Sanford, Michigan

Sanford Lake was a man-made reservoir located in Midland County, Michigan, but is no longer present since the failure of the dam in May 2020. It was formed by the damming of the Tittabawassee River near the village of Sanford, Michigan. It was built for flood control and the production of hydroelectric power. The dam is owned and operated by the Four Lakes Task Force, a property owners' group that was established by the Midland and Gladwin County boards of commissioners to oversee the dams and the impoundment lakes created by them, who took over ownership as a condition of the settlement agreement that resulted from the condemnation proceedings with former dam owner, Boyce Hydro, LLC.

The county's name is due to its closeness to the geographical Lower Peninsula's geographical center. It was founded in 1831. However, it was not until 1855 that the county was effectively organized.Midland County comprises the Midland, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area and is included in the Saginaw–Midland–Bay City Combined Statistical Area in the Mid/Central Michigan region.

The Perrine Road Bridge (formerly the North Saginaw Road-Salt River Bridge) is a bridge carrying North Saginaw Road over Sturgeon Creek in Larkin Township, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. The bridge was moved in 2001 from its location at the time of nomination (North Saginaw Rd. over the Salt River) to the present location, carrying Perrine Road over Sturgeon Creek.

The school, a part of Midland Public Schools, is a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and in 2008 was named one of the top 20 High Schools in Michigan in a study commissioned by U.S. News & World Report.

Chippewa Nature Center (CNC) is both a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization and a protected wildlife area in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, encompassing over 1,500 acres (6.1 km2) of forest, rivers and wetlands. Located in Midland County, it is one of the largest and most prominent private non-profit nature centers in the United States.

Jack Barstow Airport (ICAO: KIKW, FAA LID: IKW, formerly 3BS), also known as Jack Barstow Municipal Airport, is a city-owned, public-use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) northwest of the central business district of Midland, a city in Midland County, Michigan, United States. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a local general aviation facility.Although many U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this facility is assigned IKW by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA.A local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is located at Barstow Airport. Through the EAA's Young Eagles program, annual aviation camps are held at the airport to educate youth.
