Kalamazoo Central High School is a public high school in Kalamazoo, Michigan serving students from ninth through twelfth grades. It was the first public high school in Michigan. It began operating in 1858 and graduated its first class of five men and three women in 1859. It moved to its current location in 1972. It is rated Class A by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). On May 4, 2010, the White House announced that Central High had won the first annual Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge and that President Barack Obama would deliver the school’s 2010 commencement address.Kalamazoo Central students are eligible for the Kalamazoo Promise, which provides reduced or free college tuition for students attending public colleges in Michigan.

Maple Hill Pavilion (formerly Maple Hill Mall) is a strip mall serving the city of Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States. Maple Hill Mall became a "dead mall" after several years of decline and the loss of several major tenants. The center has since been re-developed as a strip mall called Maple Hill Pavilion which features DSW Shoe Warehouse, Hobby Lobby, Marshalls, PetSmart, Pier One Imports, Office Max, Rooms Today and Target as its anchor stores. Maple Hill Pavilion is managed by ShopOne Centers REIT.

WKPR (1440 AM) was a radio station that served the Kalamazoo, Michigan, area of the United States. WKPR Kalamazoo began its broadcast life in 1960. An unusual result of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) hearing ahead of its creation was that two radio station licenses were granted at the same time: WKPR (1420 kHz), Kalamazoo, and WDOW (1440 kHz), a new service to Dowagiac. Both stations were constructed in 1960. They remained affiliates for many years. WKPR programming was a mix of Christian music and Bible teaching. WDOW programming was similar, but did have secular music segments at some times of day. In the late 1990s, WDOW (by then an AM/FM station) was sold, and by 2012, WDOW and WDOW-FM had different owners. At the same time, WKPR had been looking for a way to increase in power. This was not feasible at 1420 kHz. However, a substantial power increase would work at 1440 kHz. The engineers found that the former affiliate WDOW (1440 kHz) would need to be moved to Kalamazoo. Overtures were made to the owner of WDOW (1440 kHz). A sale agreement was made. Upon FCC approval, WKPR relinquished 1420 kHz and began broadcasting on 1440 kHz at the Kalamazoo location. Early in 2012, power went from 1,000 watts to 2,700 watts. Late in 2012, WKPR extended its programming further through the purchase and construction of an FM translator. The system was engineered so that the translator could be located at the WKPR site. The FM translator (W286AU) located at 105.1 FM simulcasted 24 hours a day with WKPR. WKPR has always been a sister station to WFUR in Grand Rapids. As of late July 2022, the 105.1 FM simulcast was broken, and a small country music station out of Grand Rapids called "Jethro FM" began broadcasting on it. As of early August 2022, WKPR was reported as being silent.The license was surrendered to the FCC and cancelled on January 10, 2023.

The Benjamin and Maria (Ogden) Drake Farm, also known as the Drake Farmstead, is a farmstead located at 927 North Drake Road in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, and as of 2021 is open to the public as the Drake Farmstead Park.

The John E. Fetzer Center is a conference center and special events facility at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. It was opened in 1983 and named for the radio pioneer and Detroit Tigers owner John Fetzer. The facility’s lounge and exhibition area features a display of Fetzer’s life and accomplishments.The Fetzer Center is a multi usage full service center with on-site catering and videoconferencing capabilities. Meeting rooms include the 250-seat Kirsch Auditorium and the 90-seat Putney Lecture Hall, as well as seven additional meeting rooms. The Fetzer Center also has a 280-person capacity banquet hall as well as an outdoor patio and deck that are also used for wedding ceremonies and receptions. The Fetzer Center is the location for several social engagements for Western Michigan University faculty, staff, and students. The Fetzer Center hosts an annual Champagne Brunch for graduates and their families and a holiday luncheon with Santa for faculty, staff and their families, and Kalamazoo-area residents. The facility is open to both University and non-University events.

WIDR (89.1 FM) is a freeform FM radio station that broadcasts from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. WIDR, a student-run radio station licensed to Western Michigan University, broadcasts with 100 watts of power. The station is entirely student-run, employing six to eight part-time staff members. Staff members must be students at Western Michigan University, enrolled at least part-time. Even though the station is student-run, a number of community volunteers hold on-air positions as well.

Western Michigan University (Western Michigan, Western or WMU) is a public research university in Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States. It was initially established as Western State Normal School in 1903 by Governor Aaron T. Bliss for the training of teachers. It was renamed Western Michigan University in 1957. Western is one of the eight research universities in the state of Michigan and is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity". The university has seven degree-granting colleges, offering 147 undergraduate degree programs, 73 master's degree programs, 30 doctoral programs, and one specialist degree program. It is governed by an eight-member board of regents whose members are appointed by the governor of Michigan and confirmed by the Michigan Senate for eight-year terms. The university's athletic teams compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and are known as the Western Michigan Broncos. They compete in the Mid-American Conference for most sports.

James and Lois Richmond Center for Visual Arts is a visual arts center at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States. It was opened on March 9, 2007 and was dedicated on Thursday, April 12, 2007. Along with Kohrman Hall, the Richmond Center for Visual Arts houses the Frostic School of Art. The Richmond Center for Visual Arts is made up of three galleries on the first floor. It also includes two lecture halls, administration and advising offices, the WMU Design Center, a graphic design classroom and studio space, a small computer lab and a print center.

The Oaklands is a bed and breakfast owned by Western Michigan University, located at 1815 West Michigan Avenue in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

James W. Miller Auditorium is a performance venue at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States. It opened on January 12, 1968, with a ceremony that included WMU's third president, James W. Miller, for whom the auditorium was later renamed. With a seating capacity of 3,497, Miller Auditorium is the fifth-largest auditorium in Michigan, after the Fox Theatre, Masonic Temple, Hill Auditorium and MSU Concert Auditorium.Miller Auditorium has three separate seating sections, the Orchestra level, the Grand Tier level and the Balcony level. Each seating level is divided into two seating areas: left and right. Miller Auditorium employs students from the University, some as part of Work Study. The performances are also staffed in large part by volunteers from the community known as the Usher Corps. Miller Auditorium is host to several kinds of performances. A Western Michigan University student organization known as the Campus Activities Board (CAB) brings in several performances each year, usually offering a discounted price for students. The CAB events run the gamut from Miller Movies (newer movies, generally costing $1 with student ID) to comedians and other speakers. The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra routinely plays shows throughout the year at Miller. Several Broadway shows come through Miller's doors every year, the likes of which have included: The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, My Fair Lady, Wicked and Beauty and the Beast. Miller has also hosted Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Corwin, Dave Chappelle, Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood. Every year, Miller Auditorium is also host to the three Western Michigan University commencement ceremonies, in addition to hosting ceremonies for the local community college and various secondary schools in the area. The auditorium is available for rent by community groups.

The Henderson Park-West Main Hill Historic District is a primarily residential historic district roughly bounded by West Main, Thompson, Academy, Monroe, West Lovell and Valley Streets and Prairie Avenue in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Henderson Castle, built in 1895, is a large privately owned home located on the steep West Main Hill overlooking downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan. The castle has been recently renovated and is under new ownership. The building is open to the public.
