Pellston Regional Airport (IATA: PLN, ICAO: KPLN, FAA LID: PLN), also known as Pellston Regional Airport of Emmet County, is a public airport located one mile (1.6 km) northwest of the central business district of Pellston, a village in Emmet County, Michigan, United States. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a non-hub primary commercial service facility.Mainly a general aviation airport, Pellston Regional Airport also functions as the primary commercial airport for the sparsely populated northern tip of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, owing to its location halfway between the region's primary cities, Petoskey and Cheboygan, as well as its proximity to the tourist centers of Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island. One commercial airline, SkyWest (doing business as Delta Connection), currently serves Pellston Regional with three departures and three arrivals daily.The 35,000-square-foot (3,252 m2) northern lodge-themed passenger terminal building was constructed in 2003 and designed by architect Paul W. Powers. The new passenger terminal building replaced a smaller terminal building that was demolished. Wireless internet service is available throughout the terminal at no charge to travelers. The airport has commercial service on Delta Air Lines with regional jets operated by SkyWest Airlines. SkyWest generated controversy when it announced plans to operate Essential Air Service (EAS) flights to Pellston as tag flights from Detroit continuing on to Escanaba, another EAS community, and then ending in Minneapolis. The airline cited pilot shortages for the need to condense their flights to the two cities. Both communities objected and threatened to call their U.S. Senators, and SkyWest ended the tag services after a month of flying them. However, more plans for tag flights are expected to take effect in December 2022, operating from Detroit to Pellston to Alpena and then back to Detroit.The airport received $1,000,000 in 2020 as part of the federal CARES act to maintain operations and receive upgrades during the covid-19 pandemic.

Pellston is a village in Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 822 at the 2010 census. The village is the home of Pellston Regional Airport. The village lies on the boundary between Maple River and McKinley townships on US Highway 31. Interstate 75 is about 10 miles (16 km) east of Pellston. Mackinaw City and the Mackinac Bridge are approximately 18 miles (29 km) north and Petoskey is about 20 miles (32 km) southwest of the village. The University of Michigan Biological Station is on nearby Douglas Lake.

Pellston Middle/High School is a combined middle and high school in Pellston, Michigan, with a shared principal overseeing grades 6–12 in the Pellston Public Schools district. The school serves the Northwest Michigan area, including the townships of Bliss, Burt Lake, Carp Lake, Center, Hebron, Maple River, McKinley, Munro, Pleasantview, Readmond, and Wawatam. The school received a composite grade of B from the Michigan Department of Education, based on several measures of the school's performance for the 2009–2010 school year.

Pellston Public Schools is a school district located in Pellston, Michigan. It consists of Pellston Elementary School and Pellston Middle/High School. The district mascot is the hornet. Most of the district is in Emmet County. There it includes Pellston, Carp Lake, Levering, and portions of Brutus. Townships included are all of Bliss, Center, and McKinley, and sections of Carp Lake, Maple River, Pleasantview, Readmond, and Wawatam. Portions of the district are in Cheboygan County. There it includes Burt Township and portions of Hebron Township and Munro Township.

Levering is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 215.

Maple River Township is a civil township of Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,348 at the 2010 census.

Douglas Lake is an inland lake located in Cheboygan County on the northern tip of Michigan's lower peninsula. It is the 28th largest lake in Michigan with an areal coverage of 3,395 acres (1,374 hectares) and a maximum depth of 79 feet (24 meters). The Lake has two tributaries, Bessey Creek and Beavertail Creek and one outlet, the East Branch Maple River. Douglas Lake is part of the headwaters for the Maple River, a Blue Ribbon trout stream.Much of the southern shoreline of Douglas Lake is undeveloped as it is owned by the University of Michigan Biological Station and is used for research and educational purposes. The University of Michigan Biological Station and the Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council both maintain extensive records describing the biotic and abiotic features of Douglas Lake.

Brutus is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 218. Brutus is located within Maple River Township. It was established with the building of an inn called the Brutus House in 1874.

Munro Township is a civil township of Cheboygan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 571 as of the 2010 census.

Lake Paradise, historically called "Carp Lake", is a lake that feeds the Carp Lake River. It is primarily located within Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan, with an eastern bay of the lake extending into Cheboygan County. The lake covers an area of 1,900 acres (7.7 km2). The community of Carp Lake is located near the lake's western shore.The Michigan Department of Natural Resources operates a boat ramp on the lake's west shore. The lake is noted for bass, perch, northern pike, and walleye. As with other lakes in northern Michigan, Lake Paradise has been affected by invasive Eurasian watermilfoil. The lake is served by U.S. Highway 31 at Carp Lake. The nearest limited-access interchange is exit 336 on Interstate 75.Lake Paradise should not be confused with Paradise Lake in Cass County, Michigan.

Carp Lake is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Emmet County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 357. It is located within Carp Lake Township. It was founded by Octave Terrian and later became a station on the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad in 1880.

Munro Lake is an inland lake located in Cheboygan County on the northern tip of Michigan's lower peninsula. The lake discharges into Douglas Lake and, ultimately, into the East Branch Maple River. Much of the lakeshore is publicly owned, being part of the Mackinaw State Forest.The Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council characterizes Munro Lake as a groundwater-fed, relatively shallow lake. Carved by glaciers, it now provides a home for northern pike, bass, and panfish. It has a surface area of 515 acres (208 ha), a shoreline of 5.4 miles (8.7 km), and a maximum depth of 15 feet (4.6 m).
