Mendon, Massachusetts

The Mendon Center Historic District is a historic district encompassing the village center of Mendon, Massachusetts, and some of its surrounding rural areas. It is roughly bounded by Main, Hastings, Maple, North, Washington & George Streets. The village is centered on the triangle defined by Main, Hastings, and Maple Streets, with dwellings built up on the roads that radiate away from this area. Founders' Park, located at the junction of Main, Hastings, North and Milford Streets, is the site of the original town center, where the first meeting house was located. The district has residential buildings dating from the 18th to the mid-20th centuries, in a wide variety of styles. The focal point of the town center is the Second Unitarian Church, an 1820 building designed by Worcester architect Elias Carter.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Mendon Twin Drive-In is a drive-in theater in Mendon, Massachusetts. Opened on June 14, 1954, it is currently owned by Dan Andelman and his brothers Dave Andelman and Michael, who purchased the drive-in in March 2014 from Susan Swanson and Kathy Gorman, who had operated it since 1986. It can accommodate 800 cars. The second screen was added in 1998. Both screens broadcast movie soundtracks using FM radio signals; there are no remaining metal audio speakers on the poles. As of 2015, it was one of three remaining drive-Ins in Massachusetts. The Andelmans have added a 5,000-square-foot outdoor patio where they offer beer and wine.

The North Avenue Rural Historic District is a rural historic district in northern Mendon, Massachusetts. It covers 345 acres (140 ha), and extends predominantly along North Street, between Esty Road and Powers Road, and eastward along Hopedale Street and Trask Road. The area has been a rural agricultural area since the early days of Mendon's history in the 17th century. The present landscape retains boundaries and land-use patterns that were established in the 18th and 19th centuries, although some features (generally within individual farms) have been lost or obscured to accommodate modern farming practices. The architecture of the area is predominantly 19th century; the oldest building in the district appears to be the Federal style house of the Seth Davenport Farm at 133 North Avenue, built c. 1780.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Bancroft Memorial Library is the public library serving Hopedale, Massachusetts. It is located at 50 Hopedale Street in the town center, in a fine Romanesque building built in 1898-99 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hopedale is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. It is located 25 miles southwest of Boston, in eastern Massachusetts. With origins as a Christian utopian community, the town was later home to Draper Corporation, a large loom manufacturer throughout the 20th century until its closure in 1980. Today, Hopedale has become a bedroom community for professionals working in Greater Boston and is home to highly ranked public schools. The population was 6,017 as of the 2020 census.

The Nathan C. Aldrich House and Resthaven Chapel are a historic house and chapel at 111 Providence Street in Mendon, Massachusetts. The house, built c. 1830, is an example of Greek Revival architecture in stone, while the chapel is a Late Gothic structure completed in 1900. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Hopedale Junior Senior High School is a public middle and high school located at 25 Adin Street in Hopedale, Massachusetts, United States. It is part of the Hopedale Public School District, which includes three other schools.

Hopedale is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the main village in the town of Hopedale, Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 3,753, out of 5,911 in the entire town of Hopedale. It is bordered to the northeast by the town of Milford and to the southwest by the town of Mendon. It is 33 miles (53 km) southwest of Boston and 18 miles (29 km) southeast of Worcester, and 25 miles (40 km) north of Providence, Rhode Island. Massachusetts Route 16 passes through the community, leading northeast 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to the center of Milford and southwest 6 miles (10 km) to Uxbridge.

The Hopedale Village Historic District encompasses much of the historic 19th century industrial village center of Hopedale, Massachusetts. Its main focus is the mill complex of the Draper Company at Hopedale and Freedom Streets; the district includes much of northern Hopedale, extending along Dutcher and Freedom Streets, and including the mill pond. It extends to the south just beyond Mendon Street, including properties on that street from the Milford line west to Hopedale Cemetery. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The district has been included as part of the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park.

The Olney Cook Artisan Shop is a historic industrial building at 54 Hartford Avenue East in Mendon, Massachusetts. Built in the early 19th century, it is a rare surviving example of an industrial structure built for use in small-scale cottage industry from that period. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019. It is now owned by the town.

Prospect Heights Historic District is a historic district roughly bounded by Prospect Heights, Prospect, and Water Streets in Milford, Massachusetts. It encompasses a neighborhood that was created by the Draper Corporation of Hopedale, Massachusetts for its immigrant workers. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. The community has a mix of different nationalities. Every year a new mayor is chosen to represent the community. There has been a mayor for every year starting in 1962, with a different background being represented each year: Portuguese, Irish, Italian, Greek, Armenian or Polish. The Heights contains a World War II Memorial honoring local veterans who served in the war. The monument contains 184 names including one female, a nurse. There is also the Portuguese Club, a soccer field, basketball courts, and a playground for children. Every year the annual Portuguese Picnic is held drawing thousands every year. The new mayor also starts on the same day. The motto of the heights is "No matter where you roam, Prospect Heights is still your home." Milford Regional Medical Center (also known as Milford Regional), is a full-service, community and regional non-profit, teaching hospital located in Milford, Massachusetts. Milford Regional has 149 beds in the main hospital and runs a comprehensive healthcare system that includes the VNA and Hospice of Greater Milford and Tri-County Medical Associates, a physician practice group. The service area for hospital covers 20-plus towns in Worcester, Middlesex, and Norfolk counties.
