Weweantic, Massachusetts

The Sippican River ("long river") is a short river in Massachusetts, United States. The Sippican River is 6.2 miles (10.0 km) long, arising from east and west branches in the towns of Mattapoisett, Marion (once known as Sippican), and Rochester, Massachusetts. Each branch flows through a complex system of cranberry bogs and reservoirs, and empties a short distance away through Wareham into Buzzards Bay near the Weweantic River mouth. As of 2006, efforts are underway to restore the native alewife population to the river.

Rose Point is a very small peninsula located in the town of Wareham, Massachusetts, United States. It is formed by the splitting of the Sippican River into the Weweantic River. In 2005, sewer lines were extended to Rose Point and nearby Briarwood Beach to reduce pollution from reaching the rivers.

Blackmore Pond is a 46-acre (190,000 m2) reservoir in Wareham, Massachusetts, United States, in the South Wareham section of town. The pond is located south of Horseshoe Pond and west of the Weweantic River. Interstate 195 runs southeast of the pond.

Wareham Center is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Wareham in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 2,896 at the 2010 census.

Wareham High School is a public high school located in Wareham, Massachusetts, United States. The school is a part of the Wareham Public School System, and serves roughly 500 students in grades 8–12. Wareham High School's colors are Blue, Gold & White, and their mascot is the Vikings.

Clem Spillane Field is a baseball and football venue in Wareham, Massachusetts, home to the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). Wareham High School is located to the southeast of the field. Spillane Field is named for longtime Wareham High teacher and coach Clement S. Spillane. A graduate of Oliver Ames High School in Easton, Massachusetts, Spillane came to Wareham in 1947 and coached football, basketball and baseball. In 13 years at Wareham, Spillane's teams never posted a losing record, and claimed multiple league and regional titles. Spillane is enshrined in the Massachusetts coaches' halls of fame for each of the three sports he coached.The field is a multipurpose facility, used for both baseball and football. A pressbox and concession stand is located behind home plate, and large sections of bleachers along the first and third base lines and left field fence provide abundant seating. A 2007 grant from the Yawkey Foundation allowed for major improvements in the field's playing surface, irrigation, and security.The CCBL's Gatemen began play at Spillane Field in the 1960s. The field hosted the league's all-star game in 1965, 1993, 1995, 2007, 2015 and 2017, and has seen the Gatemen claim eight CCBL championships, most recently in 2018. The ballpark has been the summertime home of dozens of future major leaguers such as Lance Berkman, Kyle Schwarber, and George Springer. From 2005 through 2007, each July the field hosted an annual Cape Cod High School Baseball Classic, an all-star baseball game for high school upperclassmen.

The Weweantic River is a 17.0-mile-long (27.4 km) river in southeastern Massachusetts. Its name means "crooked" or "wandering stream" in the Wampanoag language. The river arises in wetlands in Carver, meanders generally south through swampy birch and maple forests in Middleborough and Rochester, and drains into a Buzzards Bay estuary in Wareham near the mouth of the Sippican River. Its watershed covers approximately 18,000 acres (73 km2), with many cranberry bogs in its upper reaches. Although the river has historically abounded in fish and shellfish, it currently has no significant herring population due to dam obstruction below Horseshoe Pond, and is closed to shellfish harvesting due to bacterial contamination.

Wareham ( WAIR-ham) is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. As of the 2022 census, the town had a population of 23,303.Wareham is a part of the South Coast region of Massachusetts which encompasses the cities and towns that surround Buzzards Bay (excluding the Elizabeth Islands, Bourne and Falmouth), Mount Hope Bay and the Sakonnet River.

The Tobey Homestead was a historic farmhouse located at the crossroads of Main Street and Sandwich Road in Wareham, Massachusetts.

Wareham Village station is a train station that is located on Merchants Way in Wareham, Massachusetts. Service to Wareham formerly ran from 1848 until 1959. A shelter, built in 1985 for short-lived Amtrak and commuter service, is currently unused. A new platform constructed nearby for the CapeFLYER summer weekend service (and possible future MBTA Commuter Rail service) opened for the CapeFLYER on June 27, 2014.

The Tremont Nail Company was a nail manufacturing company located in Wareham, Massachusetts, from 1819 to 2006. The Tremont Nail brand was purchased by Acorn Manufacturing of Mansfield, Massachusetts, where it still produces cut nails and other products for restoration projects. They are the oldest manufacturer of steel cut nails in the United States.

Tremont Nail Factory District is a historic district in Wareham, Massachusetts. It makes up the area occupied by the former Tremont Nail Company. In the early 19th century, Parker Mills was constructed by shipwrights as a cotton mill. During the War of 1812, it was partially burned by the British. In 1819, another building was constructed on the site of the former mill by Isaac and Jared Pratt to manufacture nails. At this time, the Parker Mills Nail Company was born. The mill was partially destroyed by fire again in 1836. Reconstruction was completed in 1848, and the buildings have not changed much since. The bell in the cupola in the original facility bears a date of 1851. The main mill is one of five buildings at the site over 100 years old. There are also 60 nail machines in the building, many over 125 years old. Until the 1920s, a water wheel powered the mill's overhead shafting.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
