Royal Derby Hospital

Derbyshire Children's Hospital is a children's hospital in Derby, Derbyshire in the United Kingdom. It is managed by the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. It was the only entirely new children's hospital built in the UK in the twentieth century.

The University of Nottingham Medical School at Derby was opened in September 2003 by Dr John Reid, then Secretary of State for Health. It is part of the University of Nottingham and is located in the nearby city of Derby in the East Midlands of England. It offers a four-year Graduate Entry Medical (GEM) course (initially for 90 students) as well as a 3-year Undergraduate Medical Physiology and Therapeutics degree (available as a 4-year foundation degree) as well. It is currently led (2015- ) by Professor John Alcolado. The medical school is attached to the Royal Derby Hospital and houses a lecture theatre, anatomy suite and clinical skills teaching facility. Additionally, students have assigned problem-based learning base rooms. Entrance to the GEM course is via the GAMSAT examination followed by a structured interview process. Competition for places is fierce, with usually over 1200 students applying for the 90 places. The course accepts people from both science and non-science degree backgrounds.The course consists of a 1+1⁄2-year pre-clinical phase which is centred on problem-based learning cases. Following successful completion of this course, students then join with the five-year course students for a 2+1⁄2-year clinical phase.

Derby High School is a private day school for children aged 3 to 18 in the suburb of Littleover in Derby. Formerly girls only in the Senior School, from September 2019 Derby High accepted boys into Years 7 and 12 (Lower Sixth). In 2022 the school will be fully co-educational with boys in all year groups. The Primary School is co-educational, taking boys and girls from age 3 to 11. The school is a member of IAPS. The school's main premises are at Hillsway, Littleover, and include sports facilities on site. A dedicated Sixth Form and Music Centre was opened by the Earl of Wessex in 2008 and a new infant and nursery building was formally opened at the site in October 2016 by the Duchess of Gloucester.

Littleover is a village and suburb in the city of Derby, in Derbyshire, England, between Rose Hill, Normanton, Sunny Hill and Mickleover, about three miles (4.8 km) southwest of Derby city centre.

Derby School of Music is an independent private music school originally established in 1885, based in Derby, England. It offers private tuition on musical instruments and music theory, and provides grade examinations with all the major music exam boards in the UK including; ABRSM, London College of Music, Trinity College of Music, Rockschool, Victoria College of Music. Pupils can take these qualifications on to advanced study at conservatoires or universities.

The Millennium Centre was located in Littleover, Derby. It was a post-16 sixth form centre, run jointly by Derby Moor Community Sports College Trust and Littleover Community School for students who wished to further their education by completing A Levels. The majority of students come from the two schools. The sixth form had joint heads who were initially; Jamie Henshaw for Derby Moor and Rob Archer for Littleover. The Millennium Centre was split between the two schools, after a decade of cooperation.

Littleover Community School is a coeducational secondary school situated on Pastures Hill, Littleover, Derbyshire in England, with pupils aged 11–18.It is a co-educational non-denominational school which educates over 1,550 pupils from in and around Derby. It has previously held Science Mathematics and Languages specialist school status, and has good academic results, both at GCSE and A-Level. The current headteacher is Jon Wilding. The school has its own Sixth Form Centre which was originally The Millennium Centre, a joint Sixth Form Centre with Derby Moor Community Sports College which opened in 1999, but disbanded in 2013 after Littleover’s Sixth Form became independent from Derby Moor and is now known as Littleover Community School Sixth Form Centre. The new humanities block opened in October 2014. The school is located on Pastures Hill which follows the route of the Roman Icknield Street, and a short distance away from the school there are buried remains of this highway.

Derby Moor Academy, the successor school to Derby Moor Community Sports College Trust, formerly known as Derby Moor Community School, is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form situated on Moorway Lane, Littleover, Derby. It was established in January 2018 when the school converted to Academy status and joined the Spencer Academies Trust. It can also be seen as the successor to Derby School, which closed in 1989, resulting in Derby Moor opening in the same year with a new headteacher and governing body, although the buildings, pupils and most of the teaching staff were the same. The school now consists of 2 buildings the main building and the MFL (modern foreign languages) building which opened to students in late 2019. Scott Doyle is the current principal.The school has its own sixth form, established in 2013. Prior to this, the school had a joint sixth form centre, The Millennium Centre, with neighbouring school Littleover Community School, which opened in 1999. Ivy House Special School is also located on the same site but in separate buildings.

Derby Pride Academy is an alternative provision secondary free school that opened in September 2012. The school is a joint venture between Derby Moor Academy and Derby County Football Club as part of the Derby Pride Trust.

Murray Park School is a secondary school on Murray Road in Mickleover, Derby, England. It has about 1050 pupils, most of whom live in the Mickleover and Mackworth areas.

The New Zealand suburb/area of Derby is situated about 1 mile from Derby City Centre. The suburb is surrounded by the Mackworth Estate, Rowditch, Friargate Coventry and The West End. New Zealand incorporates an area called the Morley Estate. It is named after a farm belonging to the Chandos-Pole family which formerly stood in this area of Derby. The farm was originally named to commemorate the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840, which established a British Government in New Zealand.New Zealand's boundaries are Uttoxeter Old Road to Ashbourne Road/Friargate then Ashbourne Road to Markeaton Island/A38 then Markeaton Island/A38 to A38/Kingsway then A38/Kingsway to Brackensdale Bridge/Lyttleton Street then Lyttleton Street to Cheviot Street then Cheviot Street to Slack Lane and finally Slack Lane to Uttoxeter Old Road. There is the New Zealand Area Centre (the Lonny Wilsoncroft Centre) on Campion Street/Stepping Lane.
