Götzens

Birgitz is a community in the district of Innsbruck in Tyrol and lies on a terrace of the highlands 10 km south west of the capital. The nearest neighbouring village is Axams in the west and Götzens in the east. Already around 100 BC the name „Birga“ was known in the area. Due to a high increase in population Birgitz will eventually merge with Götzens some time.

Axams is a municipality in the district of Innsbruck Land in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The name "Axams" has a Celtic origin and means something like „Place in the height“. The emblem has a golden top on blue ground. In the previous century flax was important for the village. Axams grew in population in the last years.

Völs is a market town in the district of Innsbruck-Land in the Austrian state of Tyrol, located at the western border of Innsbruck. It was mentioned for the first time in documents in 1188. It serves as a shopping center and storage area for the city of Innsbruck.

The Natterer See (or Lake Natters) is located 2.5 km west of Natters, 830 metres above sea level. It is one of the larger highland lakes in the vicinity of Innsbruck. Several hiking trails lead round the lake. Even though it's fen water, the lake has an excellent water quality (Grade A). Reed regions at the shores and pipes supply the lake with fresh water. Various kinds of carp live in the lake. Water temperature: 18–20 °C in Summer

Innsbruck Airport (IATA: INN, ICAO: LOWI), also known locally as Kranebitten Airport, is the largest international airport in Tyrol in western Austria. It is located approximately 4 kilometres (2+1⁄2 mi) from the centre of Innsbruck. The airport, which was opened in 1925, handles regional flights around the Alps, as well as seasonal international traffic to further European destinations. During the winter, activity increases significantly, due to the high number of skiers travelling to the region.

Axamer Lizum is a village and ski resort in Austria, located southwest of Innsbruck in the state of Tyrol. At the 1964 Winter Olympics, it hosted five of the six alpine skiing events: women's downhill, and men's and women's slalom and giant slalom. Men's downhill was held at Patscherkofel. Twelve years later in 1976, it hosted exactly the same alpine skiing events. The ski area is well known for a large variety of options to ski or snowboard off the marked piste. The highest location of the ski area is the mountain Hoadl with an altitude of 2,340 m, which is relatively high for a ski area in this region of the Alps. Thus, the Axamer Lizum has a reputation to be among the last (non glacier-based) ski resorts in the north of Tyrol which have sufficient snow for winter sport at the end of winter.

Innsbruck Observatory (Universitäts-Sternwarte Innsbruck) is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the institutes of astrophysics out of the University of Innsbruck. It is located in Innsbruck, Austria.

Kematen in Tirol is a municipality in the district Innsbruck-Land located about 12 km west of Innsbruck. The Melach river flows into the Inn river in Kematen. Kematen was first mentioned as "Caminata" around 600.

The Geroldsbach is a river of Tyrol, Austria. It originates from five fan-like source streams near Axamer Lizum at 1,900 m (6,200 ft) (AA). It flows through Götzens where it changes its direction to northeast and passes through the district Neu-Götzens. It flows further through Wilten, a district of Innsbruck. Finally, it discharges in the district Sieglanger of Innsbruck into the Inn. The Geroldsbach has a length of 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) whereof 3.9 kilometres (2.4 mi) lie in the Innsbruck city area. The Geroldsbach provides four water reservoirs for the region Götzens and two in Wilten with drinking water, which is mainly used for supplying the prisons Innsbruck and Sieglanger. As a result, the lower course carries slightly less water; it retains Grade A water quality throughout its entire course.In the event of flooding or heavy rainfall, the river proved to be a danger several times, so it was straightened in places in the local areas.

Tyrolean Airways, officially Tyrolean Airways Tiroler Luftfahrt GmbH, was an Austrian airline based in Innsbruck with its hub at Vienna International Airport and its homebase at Innsbruck Airport. It was owned by the Lufthansa Group and was an affiliate of the Star Alliance together with its parent Austrian Airlines. Tyrolean operated regional flights under the Austrian Arrows brand on behalf of Austrian Airlines from 2003 until July 2012, when nearly all employees and the fleet of Austrian Airlines was transferred to it following a labour dispute. Following a new labour agreement, Tyrolean was merged into Austrian Airlines and dissolved as a company on 31 March 2015.

The Melach is a river of Tyrol, Austria, in the western part of the Innsbruck-Land District, a right tributary of the Inn. The Melach has a length of 23.4 km (14.5 mi). It is formed by the confluence of several smaller streams at the foot of the Lisenser Fernerkogel. It passes through the villages of Gries and Sellrain and discharges into the Inn between Unterperfuss and Kematen.
