The Plum Borough School District is a midsized, suburban public school district serving the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania suburb of Plum. Plum Borough School District encompasses approximately 28 square miles (73 km2). According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 26,940. By 2010, the district's population rose to 27,131 people. In 2009, the district residents' per capita income was $20,863, while the median family income was $52,807. In the Commonwealth, the median family income was $49,501 and the United States median family income was $49,445, in 2010. By 2013, the median household income in the United States rose to $52,100.Plum Borough School District operates five schools, including Plum Senior High School (9th–12th), Plum Middle School (7th–8th), One elementary school serving grades (5–6th) Holiday Park Elementary School and two elementary schools serving grades (K-4th): O'Block Elementary School and George Pivik Elementary School. The Plum Borough School District is bordered by seven other school districts: Penn Hills School District, Gateway School District, Riverview School District, and Allegheny Valley School District (across the Allegheny River). The district is also bordered by three school districts in neighboring Westmoreland County: Franklin Regional School District, Burrell School District and New Kensington-Arnold School District.

Plum is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 27,144 at the 2020 census. A suburb of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, it is located northeast of the city in what is commonly referred to as the East Hills suburbs. Plum is often referred to as "Plum Boro" or more correctly "Plum Borough" by locals to distinguish it from its previous status as a township. It was founded as Plum Township in 1788 and was reorganized as a borough in 1956. The borough took its name from nearby Plum Creek.

Solak was consecrated and seated as its current bishop in autumn 2021.

Monroeville Public Library is a public library system located in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. It opened on November 3, 1964, as part of Gateway Campus directly opposite the administration building of the Gateway School District and three schools: Gateway High School, Moss Side Middle School, and Dr. Cleveland Stewart Jr. Elementary School. The library has undergone numerous renovations and additions.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in the 2019–2020 school year, the school reported an enrollment of 1,162 pupils in grades 9th through 12th.

Monroeville Mall is a shopping mall located in the municipality of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, east of Pittsburgh. It is located along heavily traveled U.S. Route 22 Business (US 22 Bus.) near the junction of Interstate 376 (I-376) and the Monroeville interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It was completed in 1969, extensively renovated and expanded in 2003–2004, and includes Barnes & Noble, Cinemark Theatres, Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenney, and Macy's as anchor tenants. It contains 1,418,700 square feet (131,800 m2) of leaseable retail space on 170 acres (0.7 km2), making it the largest shopping complex in Western Pennsylvania in terms of square footage. It is one of two CBL-owned malls in the Pittsburgh area, the other being Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg. Adjacent to Monroeville Mall, several major shopping centers including the Miracle Mile Shopping Center, well-known national retailers and restaurants can be found along the U.S. Route 22 commercial corridor, the biggest such concentration of retailers and other commercial businesses in the eastern environs of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area. It is located at Mall Circle Drive, across from Monroeville Convention Center, venue of the Pittsburgh Comicon, a comic book convention, from 2009 to 2014. With 150 stores, Monroeville Mall is currently the eighth largest shopping mall in Pennsylvania. The mall is famous for being the filming location of the 1978 George A. Romero horror film Dawn of the Dead.

Pitcairn is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, located 12 miles (19 km) east of Pittsburgh's central business district, named for Robert Pitcairn, an official of the Pennsylvania Railroad.Early in the 20th century, Pitcairn was the site of large railroad yards and shops that employed nearly ten thousand men. The population increased from 2,601 in 1900 to 6,310 in 1940, but has since declined. The population was 3,101 at the 2020 census.

Penn Hills High School is a public secondary school located in Penn Hills, east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. It is the sole high school operated by the Penn Hills School District. In the 2018–19 school year, enrollment was reported as 1,186 pupils in 9th through 12th grades.

The Penn Hills School District (PHSD) is a mid sized, public school district located in Pittsburgh, serving the community of Penn Hills, which is about 10 miles (16 km) east of Downtown Pittsburgh, as well as a small portion of Wilkins Township. According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 46,809. By 2010, the district's population declined to 42,431 people. The educational attainment levels for the Penn Hills School District population (25 years old and over) were 91.8% high school graduates and 22.8% college graduates. The district is one of the 500 public school districts of Pennsylvania.

Logans Ferry Powder Works Historic District is a historic district in Plum, Pennsylvania. These powder works were started in 1918, and they produced explosive bronze-aluminum powder for use in fireworks and other explosives and pigments for Alcoa. The works were listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 7, 1998. the plant was being dismantled as of 3/6/2015
