Fairview is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States.

Paint Branch High School is a high school located in the Fairland census-designated place, an unincorporated section of Montgomery County, Maryland; it has a Burtonsville postal address.It is named after the Paint Branch creek. The school was founded in 1969 and is part of the Montgomery County Public Schools System. The school lies on Old Columbia Pike, between Briggs Chaney and Greencastle Road. Paint Branch, once a rural high school now deep in the heart of suburban sprawl, is a member of the Northeast Consortium schools in Montgomery County. As a member of the Consortium, the school's signature program focuses on Science and Media education. The panther is the school's mascot and the fight song is "Hail to the Panthers", sung to the tune of "Hail to the Commanders". The school's colors are burgundy and gold, also the same as the Washington Commanders.

Spencerville Adventist Academy is a Seventh-day Adventist full K-12 day academy located in Spencerville, Montgomery County, Maryland. It is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second largest Christian school system. Its first year began in 1943 with six students and has grown to its present enrollment of over four hundred. Spencerville Adventist Academy has just opened its newly constructed facility on the outskirts of Burtonsville Maryland. They offer Pre-K through 12th grade college preparatory education. The school is open to all faiths but generally gives first right to enroll to students from Seventh-Day Adventist churches. They are also one of the first LEED certified schools in Montgomery County.

The Gardens Ice House is a privately operated skating and fitness facility in Laurel, Maryland. Built on Fairland Regional Park land, the venue features an Olympic ice rink, two NHL rinks (the third of these added on January 1, 1999), and since November 2013, an outdoor mini-rink. The Gardens is a public-private partnership between the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and Top Shelf Development. The facility hosts the Mid Atlantic Skating School, Gardens Figure Skating Club, and Potomac Curling Club, as well as the annual Maryland Scholastic High School Championship. It hosted the American Indoor Football league's Maryland Reapers in 2012 and Washington Eagles in 2013. The facility hosted the Washington Jr. Nationals from 2010 until their move to Vermont in 2014. The Gardens is the home arena for the Washington Power roller hockey team. "Whitey's Pond", an outdoor skating venue open from November to March each year, had its grand opening at The Gardens on November 1, 2013. Named in honor of veteran hockey rink owner Whitey Guenin of Indiana, the rink will feature 3 on 3 adult hockey, described at other rinks as a form of pond hockey.As of early May 2020, The Gardens was being used as a temporary morgue while otherwise closed during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, with the bodies elevated from the ice, draped with Maryland flags, and guarded by Maryland Park Police officers while awaiting transportation elsewhere.

The Potomac Curling Club is a curling club started in 1961 and currently curling in Laurel, Maryland. Operating out of the National Capital Curling Center, a dedicated curling ice facility at The Gardens Ice House operated under a long-term lease since 2002, the group maintains four sheets of dedicated curling ice, the only dedicated curling ice in the Washington, D.C., area. The club operates during the main curling season (October to April), although social events for the membership occur during the summer.The club has approximately 365 adult members across the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area, and sponsors Open Houses and "Learn-to-curl" training sessions open to the public, as well as nightly leagues for its membership and a series of tournaments, called bonspiels, through the winter season.Potomac hosted the 2004 United States Senior Woman's Bonspiel, the 2005 United States Curling Association Mixed National Championship, the 2010 Eastern Regional Qualifiers for the United States Men's Curling Championship, a visit by the 2011 Scots Woman's US tour, and the 2012 Rotary International Curling World Championships.As one of the dedicated ice curling facilities in the Grand National Curling Club (GNCC), the PCC regularly hosts GNCC events, and participates with three other area curling clubs (Chesapeake, Philadelphia, and Plainfield curling clubs) in a rotating contest, the MACA.

Rocky Gorge Reservoir is located on the Patuxent River in Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George's counties in Maryland, between Laurel and Burtonsville. The reservoir was created in 1952 by the construction of the T. Howard Duckett Dam on the Patuxent. The dam is visible from Interstate 95 near milemarker 34. Because of its close association with a dam by the name, the reservoir is sometimes called the T. Howard Duckett Reservoir. It has a surface area of 773 acres (313 ha). The reservoir is maintained as a drinking water source by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC). WSSC provides recreational facilities to the public on portions of the Rocky Gorge property, including hiking, picnicking, fishing, boating, horseback riding, and hunting. Local fish species include pike and largemouth bass.

Waters–Fulton Store and Post Office, also known as Water's Store, Fulton, is a historic home located in Fulton, Howard County, Maryland. The Post office and Store served as the center of town for Fulton, Maryland. It is situated on a slave plantation purchased by Richard Waters in 1861. On 29 December 1874 the "Water's Store" post office opened. In 1877 a road was commissioned by the county between Water's store and Souder House. In 1887 Frederick Brinkman purchased the farm and store. The Post Office name was changed to "Fulton" in 1887.
