Overlea, Maryland

Overlea is a neighborhood in northeast Baltimore. It is home to the Maryland School for the Blind.

Taylor Heights is a neighborhood in northeast Baltimore. The neighborhood contains only a few homes because Parkwood Cemetery takes up much of the neighborhood. A major road in the neighborhood is Taylor Avenue, which runs from Overlea in the east to Towson in the west, at which point it becomes Goucher Boulevard/Hillen Road. The neighborhood is the most northeastern part of Baltimore.

The Maryland School for the Blind (MSB) is a school in Baltimore for children and youth who are blind or Low-vision, including those with multiple disabilities. MSB is a non-profit, private, statewide resource center providing outreach, educational and residential programs. Over 65% of the 2,000 students identified in Maryland as blind or visually impaired are served by the school every year.

North Harford Road is a neighborhood in northeast Baltimore, Maryland.

Chrissy Lee Polis is a transgender woman who was beaten on April 18, 2011, at a McDonald's in Rosedale, Maryland, just northeast of the city limits of Baltimore. A video of the beating was posted online and went viral. The attack had been conducted by teenage girls, aged 14 and 19. They were both prosecuted. The case heightened awareness of violence against transgender people in Maryland and protests were conducted. A state law that had protections for transgender people failed to pass shortly before the attack. Gov. Martin O'Malley said he intended to work with the legislature on a bill to provide more protections for transgender people. In addition, Howard County passed a county law protecting transgender people within its boundaries.

The school was originally established in 1953 on what is now the location of Parkville Middle School. The current high school building opened in 1958. Area middle schools include Parkville Middle, Loch Raven Academy, and Pine Grove Middle.
