The Monument to the Liberator Soldier (Ukrainian: Пам'ятник Воїну-визволителю, Russian: Памятник Воину-освободителю), commonly called "Pavlusha" (Ukrainian: Павлуша, Russian: Павлуша) is a large monument in Kharkiv to the Soviet troops who liberated the city from German occupation in 1943. The monument is located across from the August 23 metro station. It was dedicated in 1981. The sculptors were Y. I. Ryk and I. P. Yastryebov, and the architects were A. A. Maksimenko, E. A. Svyatchenko, and E. Y. Cherkasov. The centerpiece is a large statue of a Red Army soldier with a carbine raised high in his right hand. The statue is flanked by two artillery pieces and walls with replicas of the Order of Victory and the Order of the Patriotic War.By 2009, the monument was in need of repair and maintenance. Previously, this had been the responsibility of the Green Areas Trust, but this body was now defunct, and so the monument had not been maintained for a decade, and required attention including testing for structural integrity, cleaning, and refacing of the pedestal.The repair was paid for by extrabudgetary funds. Money was raised by local and regional party leaders. Repair and cleaning of the pedestal alone cost more than 60,000 hryvnia. The project was completed within six months, in time for Victory Day (May 9) of 2010. Further cleaning and restoration was done in 2012.Kharkivites call the monument "Pavlusha" (by way of analogy with the Bulgarian monument "Alyosha" in Plovdiv), or simply "The Soldier". It is a popular meeting place and background for photographs. In 2013, the National Bank of Ukraine issued a commemorative coin "Liberation of Kharkiv from the Fascist Invaders" as part of the series Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, showing the statue on the obverse.

23 Serpnia (Ukrainian: 23 Серпня, (listen)) is a station on Kharkiv Metro's Oleksiivska Line. The station is one of two new stations added to the metro system on 21 August 2004, the other being Botanichnyi Sad.

Shevchenkivskyi District (Ukrainian: Шевченківський район) is an urban district of the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine, named after the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.The district was created in 1932 out of parts of Ivano-Lysohirskyi and Petynsko-Zhuravlivskyi districts. It was named as Dzerzhynskyi after the communist mass murder Felix Dzerzhinsky, head of Cheka (All-Russian Extraordinary Commission). It was renamed to its current name in February 2016 to comply with decommunization laws.

The B. Verkin Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering is a research institute that conducts basic research in experimental and theoretical physics, mathematics, as well as in the field of applied physics. It was founded in 1960 by Borys Verkin, Oleksandr Galkin, Borys. Eselson and Ihor Dmytrenko. The first director was Borys Verkin. Main areas of research are high-temperature superconductivity, weak superconductivity, magneto antiferromagnets, physics of low-dimensional systems, point-contact spectroscopy, quantum crystals, nonlinear phenomena in metals, physics of disordered systems, quantum phenomena in plasticity and others. The institute has published about 250 monographs, textbooks, reference books, more than 12,000 articles and reviews in ranking scientific journals, and has trained more than 850 highly qualified experts — PhDs.

Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (NURE) (Ukrainian: Харківський національний університет радіоелектроніки) is a higher education institution of the highest level of accreditation in Ukraine. It is one of the oldest technology universities in Ukraine, with over 7000 students and 30 scientific centers. Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics (Ukrainian: Харківський національний економічний університет імені Семена Кузнеця) is the largest economic higher educational and research institution in Eastern part of Ukraine. Established in 1912, since 2013 the University is named after American economist Simon Kuznets, its noted alumnus. KhNUE provides a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate educational programs implementing multistage training, retraining and upgrading of qualification in 26 specialties in economy and business, management, public administration, informatics and cybernetics, computer sciences, publishing business and printing industry, tourism, international relations.

Kharkiv National Medical University (Ukrainian: Харківський національний медичний університет), formerly known as Kharkiv Medical Institute and previously Kharkiv State Medical University, is a medical university in Kharkiv, Ukraine. In March 2022 many buildings were heavily damaged due to the Russian invasion into Ukraine.Over 700 teachers work at the departments of the university. Staff capacity is 5 corresponding members NAMN Ukraine, 17 Honoured Scientist of Ukraine, 2 Honored high school Ukraine, 13 distinguished doctors of Ukraine, 8 winners of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Engineering, 28 academicians of the public academies of Ukraine, 28 employees - Member of International Medical Associations;. Since 1951, the University has been training medical personnel for countries of the Eastern Europe, China and Mongolia, and since 1961 it has been training students from other countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. At present, there are about 3400 foreign students in the Kharkiv National Medical University who study at the Preparatory Department, Medical, Nursing and Dental Faculties, undergo postgraduate and clinical post-graduate (residency) courses as well as professional probation at departments of the University in Dental, therapy, orthopedics, surgery, oncology, urology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, as well as other medical specialties. The University has trained over 5000 specialists for 86 states of Europe, Asia, Latin America, Middle East countries. Among them there are 3 Doctors and 70 Candidates of Medical Science, about 200 clinical post-graduates (residents).

Slovo Building (Ukrainian: Будинок «Слово») is a residential multi-story building located in the Shevchenkivskyi District of Kharkiv. The shape of the building reflects the letter C in the Ukrainian word слово ("slovo") which means "word". Therefore, the shape of the building symbolized that it was constructed specially for prominent Ukrainian writers, who lived there in a total of 66 apartments. Built in the late 1920s, it housed many Ukrainian writers and poets, some of whom, known as the Executed Renaissance, were later executed by the Soviet Union in Sandarmokh.

Kharkiv Television Tower (Ukrainian: Харківська телевізійна вежа), most commonly known as the Kharkiv TV Tower (Ukrainian: Харківська телевежа), is a 240.7 m (790 ft) tall steel truss television tower for FM-/TV-broadcasting in Kharkiv, Ukraine. It is of similar design of Kyiv TV Tower, but has legs of a closed metal structure. In addition, the tower was constructed with truss-like space frames, which are lightweight rigid structures constructed from/by interlocking and/or intertwining struts in a geometric pattern.

The Derzhprom (Ukrainian: Держпром) or Gosprom (Russian: Госпром) building is a constructivist structure in Freedom Square, Kharkiv, Ukraine. Its name is an abbreviation of two words that, taken together, mean State Industry. In English the structure is known as the State Industry Building or the Palace of Industry. It was built during the Soviet era in 1928. It is the first Soviet 13-story skyscraper.Derzhprom takes its place as a unique phenomenon of world architecture among the various structures that represent the modernist architecture of the first half of the 20th century, which are already on the UNESCO World Heritage List or the Tentative List.
