Hiram, Maine

The Hubbard–Cotton Store is a historic commercial building on the corner of River Rd and Mountain View Ave, near its junction with 113 in the center of Hiram, Maine. Built c. 1850, it is locally notable as one of the only non-residential historic structures in the small town, and was operated for about 100 years by the Cotton family. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Soldiers Memorial Library is the public library of Hiram, Maine. It is located at 85 Main Street in the center of the small town, in a small concrete-block building erected in 1915–16. It is architecturally significant as one only two library buildings in the state built using ornamental concrete blocks, and was for this reason listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Wadsworth Hall, also known as the Peleg Wadsworth House, is a historic house at the end of Douglas Road in Hiram, Maine, United States. A massive structure for a rural setting, it was built for General Peleg Wadsworth between 1800 and 1807 on a large tract of land granted to him for his service in the American Revolutionary War. Wadsworth was the leading citizen of Hiram, and important town meetings took place at the house. He was also the grandfather of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who visited the estate as a youth. The house remains in the hands of Wadsworth descendants. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The John Watson House, also known as the Intervale Farm, is a historic house on Benny Babb Hill Road in Hiram, Maine. Built in 1785 by one of Hiram's first settlers, it is now the oldest building in the town, and is a well-preserved example of late Georgian architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The Burnell Tavern is an historic former tavern on Maine State Route 113 in West Baldwin, Maine. Built in 1737, it is the oldest building in the rural community, and has long been a local landmark. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 29, 1983. It is now a private residence, not open to the public.

Both stations share studios on Ledgeview Drive in Westbrook, while WPXT's transmitter is located in West Baldwin, Maine.

WMTW (channel 8) is a television station licensed to Poland Spring, Maine, United States, serving the Portland area as an affiliate of ABC. It is owned by Hearst Television alongside CW affiliate WPXT (channel 51). Both stations share studios on Ledgeview Drive in Westbrook, while WMTW's transmitter is located in West Baldwin, Maine. WMTW also operates a low-power digital fill-in translator on UHF channel 26 (also mapped to virtual channel 8) from the Time and Temperature Building in downtown Portland's Monument Square. The translator serves the immediate part of Portland and some surrounding areas to serve viewers that have difficulty receiving the main signal. In addition to WPXT, WMTW shares common coverage areas with four other Hearst-owned sister stations in New England: fellow ABC affiliates WCVB-TV in Boston and WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire; and its duopoly of NBC affiliate WPTZ and CW affiliate WNNE in Vermont.

The Tenmile River is an 8.6-mile-long (13.8 km) river in the towns of Hiram and Brownfield in western Maine in the United States. It is a tributary of the Saco River, which flows to the Atlantic Ocean.

Hancock Brook is an east-bank tributary to the Saco River at Hiram, Maine. The brook originates in eastern Denmark and flows through a chain of ponds along the border between Hiram and Sebago. The narrow-gauge Bridgton and Saco River Railroad was built along the brook in 1882, and operated until 1941.

Denmark is a town in Oxford County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,197 at the 2020 census. A number of ponds and lakes are located within the town.

The Dyke Mountain Annex is a historic house at 319 Dyke Mountain Road in Sebago, Maine. This 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built sometime between 1906 and 1908 by Grace L. Dike, proprietor of the Dyke Mountain Hotel, a popular summer resort in the hills west of Sebago Lake. It is the only surviving element of the hostelry, the rest of which was destroyed by fire in 1927. This structure originally housed only sleeping and common lounge spaces, but was modified after the fire to have a kitchen, and continued to be operated as a summer hostel by Dike until her death in 1937. It continues to be used as a guest lodging facility by its present owners.The house is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure with a gable roof. An engaged porch wraps around three sides of the building, and the front roof facade is pierced by three shed-roof dormers. The second floor of the front elevation has five sash windows, while the first floor has an asymmetrical recessed face with its entry slightly less recessed than the surrounding exterior walls. The porch, under the overhanging second floor, is supported by chamfered square posts. The kitchen ell is a two-story structure extending to the rear of the main block. The interior of the first floor main block is one large chamber, accessed via doors from a vestibule area, with a stairwell in the southwest and a narrow hall leading to a bathroom and kitchen. There are four bedrooms on the second floor, and two more in the attic space.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
