University of Johannesburg

Kingsway Campus Auckland Park, also known as APK, is the largest and most populated of the four campuses of the University of Johannesburg. It is also the seat of the administration and governance body of the university. The campus was formerly the only educational campus of the Rand Afrikaans University. The campus gets its name from a major Johannesburg road, Kingsway Avenue, that runs along the north-east side of the campus. The roads that form the boundary of the campus are (clock-wise) University Road, Ditton Avenue, Ripley Road, Hampton Avenue, Studente Avenue, Akademie Road and Perth Road. Although the official name of the campus implies that it is in Auckland Park, it actually falls just out of that suburb by one street. It is technically in the suburb of Rossmore with the first-year parking lot bordering the suburb of Melville, Gauteng.

Brixton is a predominantly working class suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is the site of the landmark Sentech Tower, and is near the suburbs of Auckland Park and Melville.

The Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) was a prominent South African institution of higher education and research that served the greater Johannesburg area and surroundings from 1967 to 2004. It has since merged with the Technikon Witwatersrand and two campuses of Vista University to form the University of Johannesburg.

Auckland Park Theological Seminary (ATS) is a Pentecostal and Charismatic theological seminary. It is based in the Johannesburg suburb of Auckland Park, and has campuses in Mthatha and Durban, as well as offering distance learning qualifications. Its principal is Prof. WJ Hattingh, also a professor at the University of Johannesburg. It has engaged in theological training and education for the past 50 years, and is the oldest institution of its kind in Southern Africa. It is registered with the South African Qualifications Authority, and offers various certificates, as well as the undergraduate BTh, and the postgraduate BA Honours, MA, and D Lit et Phil, all in Theology.

The IMM Graduate School is a privately owned educational institution and is part of the UXi Education group. The IMM Graduate School offers degrees, diplomas and certificates in marketing, marketing management and supply chain management.The school provides most of its teaching through distance learning, but students can supplement their distanced learning by receiving academic support at one of their Student Support Centres throughout Southern Africa. The IMM Graduate School has students from more than 20 different countries around the world, including Botswana, Congo, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Burundi, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Bosnia, China, France, India, Ireland, Serbia, Thailand and the United Kingdom.The current Executive Academic Head is Angela Bruwer.

The UJ Stadium is a multi-sports stadium facility in Westdene, Johannesburg. It is mainly used for rugby games.The stadium was used as an official training venue during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Helen Joseph Hospital is a public hospital based in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, South Africa. Prior to 1997, it was known as the J.G. Strijdom Hospital. As a teaching hospital, its affiliated to the University of Witwatersrand's Medical School.

The Westdene dam disaster was a bus accident that took place in Westdene, near Johannesburg, South Africa, on 27 March 1985. Out of the 72 occupants, 42 of them had drowned within the submerged bus and two were declared deceased shortly after being taken to a nearby hospital. while another 30, including the bus driver, were rescued.

Lindfield House is a Victorian Museum in Auckland Park, near Johannesburg, South Africa, built circa 1909–1910. The original plans have been lost. The first owners of the house were a Dr and Mrs Stanwell, who lived there until 1924. The house is named after a village in England.Herbert Baker is said to be the designer of the house. The second owner was Henry O'Kelly Webber, a past president of the Chamber of Mines. He greatly enlarged the house, getting A.J. Marshall to design the plans. Marshall worked with Baker and afterwards had his own practice. An extra room was added in 1933 which was designed by Nelly Edwards, the first woman architect in Johannesburg.The third owner was Donald Relton Austin, an engineer, who bought the house in 1944. Then in the 1950s the house was owned by Peter Laband, a stockbroker.

5FM is a South African FM radio station that follows a Top 40 music format and is owned by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), South Africa's public broadcaster. The current business manager of PCS combo(5fm and good hope fm) is JD Mostert

Soundcity Radio Network is a Nigerian FM radio and nationwide digital radio station that follows a Top 40 music format and is owned by Alphavision Multimedia, a subsidiary of the Consolidated Media Associates (CMA). Headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, Soundcity Radio Network broadcasts nationally to a youth audience. Soundcity Radio Network music quota leans more to Nigerian music with over 70% of music played from local artists and 30% split between other African and Foreign music.

7th Street is a street located in the Johannesburg suburb of Melville. It is lined with many restaurants and bars, which are mostly frequented by students from the nearby University of Johannesburg. It is featured in the South African soap opera 7de Laan.
