Kriss Donald (2 July 1988 – 15 March 2004) was a 15-year-old Scottish teenager who was kidnapped and murdered in Glasgow in 2004 by a gang of British men of Pakistani origin, some of whom fled to Pakistan after the crime. Daanish Zahid, Imran Shahid, Zeeshan Shahid and Mohammed Faisal Mustaq were later found guilty of racially motivated murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. A fifth man, Zahid Mohammed, pleaded guilty to kidnapping, assault and lying to police and was sentenced to five years in prison. He later went on to testify against the other four at their trials.The case featured the first-ever conviction for racially motivated murder in Scotland.

Farme Castle was located in Rutherglen, to the south-east of Glasgow, Scotland. It stood 0.5 miles (0.80 km) east of Farme Cross where the A724 meets the A749 trunk road. The castle keep acted as one corner of a courtyard, formed by an extension in the form of a castellated mansion. High walls and subsidiary buildings completed the courtyard. There was an ornate arched gateway to the courtyard adjacent to the keep. The old keep was of three storeys and a garret, above a corbelled-out parapet with machicolations and water spouts. An old ceiling was removed in 1792 to reveal an ancient wooden ceiling, which carried writing alluding to the Stewarts, and the date was 1325; in the 2010s, part of the text was reproduced on stone as a public art installation at Cuningar Loop, a recently opened public park a short distance to the north of the site of the castle.The castle was a simple keep of the 15th century, possibly built on an older core. Robert the Bruce had granted the Farme Castle estate to Walter The Steward. The estate later passed to the Douglases. From 1482 to 1599 it belonged to the Crawfords, and became known as Crawford's Farme. It was demolished in the 1960s, by which time it was being used as a repository for redundant mining equipment. An industrial estate bearing the same name now occupies the site.

Bridgeton Waverley Football Club was a Scottish football club based in Glasgow. Originally founded in 1904, they competed in the Junior grade from 1923 until folding in 1962.

Strathclyde Football Club was a Scottish football club based in Glasgow, who played in Scottish Junior Football Association competitions from 1894 until they went out of business in 1965. They won the Scottish Junior Cup on three occasions.

Parkhead Stadium was a railway station in the east end of Glasgow. It was opened by the Caledonian Railway as Parkhead on 1 February 1897.In recognition of its proximity to the Celtic Park football stadium, it was known as Parkhead (for Celtic Park) by 1904; and it was also referred to in some timetables as Parkhead for Celtic Park.The station was renamed Parkhead Stadium by British Railways on 3 March 1952. The nearby ex-North British Railway's Coatbridge Branch station, "Parkhead", was renamed "Parkhead North" on 30 June 1952.It was closed to passengers on 5 October 1964.

Parkhead (Scots: Pairkheid) is a district in the East End of Glasgow. Its name comes from a small weaving hamlet at the meeting place of the Great Eastern Road (now the Gallowgate and Tollcross Road) and Westmuir Street. Glasgow's Eastern Necropolis cemetery was laid out in the area in 1847 beside the Gallowgate.

The Athletes Village for the 2014 Commonwealth Games was situated on a 35-hectare (86-acre) site, in the east end of Glasgow. The project was designed by the Paul Stallan Studio @ RMJM. At first the site was used as accommodation for up to 8,000 athletes and officials from all over the Commonwealth nations, as well as providing a retail area, recreation area, dining hall and medical facilities for the athletes. After the commonwealth games, the site was further developed and has up to 1,400 homes, a portion of which are available for social rental.

Newbank is a neighbourhood in the East End of Glasgow, Scotland, near the home ground of Celtic F.C. It sits just north of the River Clyde, adjacent to Parkhead, and is bounded to the south by London Road. It is now a settlement of council houses but its name derives from an 18th-century estate of that name.

Parkhead Football Club was a Scottish football club from the Parkhead district of Glasgow who played in Scottish Junior Football Association competitions from their formation in 1880 until going out of business in 1963. Originally playing at The Sheddens on Old Shettleston Road, the club moved to Helenslea Park near current day Beattock/Sorby Streets in 1892 before development forced the club further out towards the Newbank/Lilybank area and into New Helenslea Park. In the early years of the Scottish Junior Cup, Parkhead appeared in nine finals and won the cup five times. The club supplied eight players who went on to become full Scotland internationals later in their careers and Andy Auld who played five times for the US national team.

Lilybank is a neighbourhood in the east of Glasgow, Scotland. Neighbouring areas Newbank to the west, Braidfauld to the east and the eastern part of Parkhead to the north. The A74 London Road runs to the south, with the land on the opposite side between the road and the River Clyde not used for residential purposes: the Barrowfield football training ground owned by Celtic F.C., and the Dewar's whisky bottling plant and warehouses, the latter on the former Westthorn country estate.In a wider sense, many residents of Lilybank would consider themselves residents of Parkhead or Tollcross, but they were officially placed within the Braidfauld ward of Glasgow City Council from 1995 to 2007; since then, the neighbourhood (west of Maukinfauld Road) has been in the Calton ward, while surrounding streets to the north and east fall under Shettleston ward.

Celtic Park was a football ground in Glasgow, Scotland. It was the home ground of Celtic from 1888 until they moved to the site of the modern Celtic Park in 1892. The ground staged an international match between Scotland and Ireland in 1891.

The Commonwealth Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, known for sponsorship reasons as the Emirates Arena, is an indoor arena and velodrome in Dalmarnock, Glasgow, Scotland. Built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, these venues hosted the badminton and track cycling events. Situated opposite Celtic Park in the East End of Glasgow, the complex is the headquarters of Sportscotland and Scottish Cycling.
