Rockcastle Regional Hospital and Respiratory Care Center is a not-for-profit acute and long-term care hospital located in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky. The facility primarily serves Rockcastle and surrounding counties with its 26-bed acute care facility, but receives referrals for its 143-bed ventilator facility nationwide It is an eleven-time winner of the Kentucky Hospital Association Quality Award and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

The Mount Vernon Commercial District in Mount Vernon, Kentucky is a 5 acres (2.0 ha) historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It runs along Main St. from Church to Richmond Sts. and included 22 contributing buildings. It was deemed "significant for its historical association with the commercial development of the town, as well as the development of Mt. Vernon as the major commercial and cultural center in Rockcastle County. Representing the core of the business section of Mt. Vernon, the commercial district comprises a noteworthy concentration of well-preserved late nineteenth and early twentieth century commercial architecture."

The Bennett Hiatt Log House, near Renfro Valley, Kentucky, is a log house built in 1828. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The house was built originally as a one-and-a-half-story single pen; an extension was added after the Civil War. There are six contributing buildings on the property.

Lake Linville is a 356-acre (1.44 km2) reservoir in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. It was created in 1968 by the construction of the earthen Renfro Dam, 72 feet (22 m) high with a length of 1,100 feet (340 m), owned and operated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The dam is a highway fill embankment along Interstate 75.

Rockcastle County High School (abbreviated RCHS) is a public high school located in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, United States. The school mascot is the Rockets, with the school colors being red, navy blue and white. It is the only high school inside of the Rockcastle County School District. The enrollment was 826 students as of 2021–2022.

Wabd, is an unincorporated community in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, United States. It was also called Green Yard. The name refers to the post office founder William A. B. Davis. It is located on Kentucky Route 1250 just north of its terminus on Kentucky Route 461.

Brodhead is a home rule-class city in Rockcastle County in southeastern Kentucky. The population was 1,211 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Richmond–Berea Micropolitan Statistical Area. Brodhead has been noted for its unusual place name.

Disputanta is an unincorporated community located in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, United States. It is located on Kentucky Route 1787. The name Disputanta is said to have arisen from a dispute over the name of the new post office. Many residents of the area now use the name Clear Creek.

Willailla is an unincorporated community in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, United States. It is located at the junction of Kentucky Route 70 and Kentucky Route 3273. It was named for the constant illness of a resident named Will Owens.
