Fort Wright, Kentucky

Hooper Battery was a hilltop earthworks fortification, built for the Defense of Cincinnati during the American Civil War in Northern Kentucky by the Union Army to turn back invading Confederate troops. It was constructed to protect Cincinnati and the Ohio River valley. The battery overlooks the Licking River valley in an advantageous position. Initially, Major General Lew Wallace, commanding the defenses of Cincinnati in September 1862, utilized the defensive engineering skills of Colonel Charles Whittlesey, who had commanded the 20th Ohio Infantry in one of Wallace's brigades until after the Battle of Shiloh when he resigned due to age. Whittlesey had originally planned the defenses of Cincinnati in 1861 while under the command of Brigadier General Ormsby M. Mitchel, commander of the Department of the Ohio, and Wallace had found them insufficient and in need of considerable repair. Wallace appointed Whittlesey a member of his staff and he immediately created work parties for reinforcing the defenses. Whittlesey remained part of Wallace's staff until he was replaced by Major James H. Simpson of the United States Army Corps of Topographical Engineers who was charged by Maj. Gen. Horatio Wright, commander of the Department of the Ohio, to continue reinforcing and upgrading Cincinnati's defenses.Within five days of preparing to defend Cincinnati an estimated 75,000 men showed up to the defense 60,000 men where irregulars.Hooper Battery is one of six remaining artillery batteries from the 28 that were built on Northern Kentucky hilltops from 1861 to 1864. The site was the home of the James A. Ramage Civil War Museum, which closed in 2021.

The James A. Ramage Civil War Museum sought to tell the untold story of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Northern Kentucky's involvement in the American Civil War. Although no battles occurred there, the people of the area resisted a push by the Confederate army in 1862. The museum was located on the site of Hooper Battery. The museum grounds covered 17 acres (69,000 m2) and it displayed historical passages, stories, and memorabilia. It also paid homage to the Black Brigade of Cincinnati, Fern Storer's kitchen, and the history of the city of Fort Wright. On August 25, 2021, Fort Wright's mayor, Dave Hatter, ordered the museum closed, following a year of negotiations with the museum's board to correct various infrastructure and program problems. Battery Hooper Park, where the museum is located, remains open to the public.

Notre Dame Academy is a Catholic, all-girls, college-preparatory high school within the Diocese of Covington, sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame of Covington, Kentucky. Notre Dame Academy is the only all-girls single-gender high school for girls in Northern Kentucky. Notre Dame Academy is located in Park Hills, Kentucky, United States.

Kenton Vale is a home rule-class city in Kenton County, Kentucky, in the United States. The population was 105 at the 2020 census. Kenton Vale consists of only one subdivision and a cemetery branching off Madison Pike (Kentucky Route 17). The subdivision was named for the county, which in turn was named for explorer and pioneer Simon Kenton. There is only one way in and out of the city: through the intersection of Kuhrs Lane and Madison Pike. Incorporated by the state legislature in 1949, the city was primarily created to keep Covington from annexing homes in the area.

Vent Haven Museum is an American museum of ventriloquial figures and memorabilia. It claims to be the only such museum in the world. The museum is located in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, five miles (8.0 km) south of Cincinnati. It opened in 1973.The museum is open seasonally, May through September, by appointment only. As of March 2022, the museum was closed for construction on a new facility. The museum is scheduled to reopen on May 9, 2023.

Mother of God Cemetery, Covington, Kentucky, was first located at 26th Street and Madison Avenue in 1849, and was moved to its current location at 2701 Latonia Avenue in 1887. The old cemetery was also known as the Buena Vista Cemetery or St Joseph Cemetery. Some of the graves were moved from the old cemetery, while others were not.This cemetery was founded as the parish cemetery for Mother of God Parish, Covington's second oldest, which served a German-speaking population. This cemetery evolved from a parish cemetery to a regional one and remains active today.Frank Duveneck, noted Covington artist, rests in this cemetery; his memorial is by artist Clement Barnhorn, whose Crucifixion Scene is also found in the cemetery.Pro basketball player Larry Staverman (1936–2007) is buried there. Beechwood High School is a 6-year 7-12th grade high school, located in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, United States. It is a part of the Beechwood Independent School District. The district (of which Beechwood HS is the sole comprehensive high school) includes the majority of Fort Mitchell, a portion of Fort Wright, and a portion of Lakeside Park.

Covington Catholic High School (abbreviated CCH or CovCath) is a private, Roman Catholic, high school for boys in Park Hills, Kentucky, United States. It was founded in 1925 by Bishop Francis William Howard and Brother George Sauer, and is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington. The school is the only boys' high school in Northern Kentucky and one of five in the Cincinnati area. The girls' Notre Dame Academy is located across the street.

Park Hills is a home rule-class city in Kenton County, Kentucky, in the United States, and a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. The population was 2,970 at the 2010 census. Much of the city was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008 as the Park Hills Historic District.

Latonia is a former city, now neighborhood of Covington in Kenton County, Kentucky, United States. Latonia, not to be confused with the neighboring community of Latonia Lakes, is located in the southern part of the city of Covington. It includes residential, commercial and manufacturing areas.

WCVG (1320 AM, "The Voice") is a commercial radio station licensed to Covington, Kentucky, and serving the Cincinnati metropolitan area. It is owned by Reign Enterprises, Inc. and airs a brokered programming radio format. Hosts buy time on WCVG and may use their shows to advertise their ministries, products or services. Programming includes Urban Gospel Christian radio along with special interest talk shows and ethnic shows. WCVG operates with 500 watts during daytime hours and 430 watts at night, using a directional antenna at all times. Its transmitter is behind the Latonia Shopping Center in Covington. WCVG's daytime signal is directional, and resembles a "figure-8" pattern that covers the Cincinnati market inside the I-275 loop. WCVG's nighttime pattern points to the south and west and does not cover much of the Ohio portion of the market. The northern Kentucky counties still have a listenable nighttime signal.
