Eminence, Kentucky

The Eminence Historic Commercial District is a 12 acres (4.9 ha) historic district in Eminence, Kentucky which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It included 25 contributing buildings.Specifically it includes: 116 E. Broadway, 64-80 S. Main, 112-102 S. Penn, 122-108 E. Broadway, 100-124 N. Main, 123 N. Main, and 100 W. Broadway.It includes the former L&N Railroad Depot (1908), a brick building at the intersection of Broadway and Main.It was deemed "significant in being a fine collection of late 19th-century commercial buildings which has retained its architectural integrity. The buildings combine with the arrangement of streets speak of the importance of the former railroad, which existed ten years before the founding of the town."

Crutcher House, on Mulberry Pike in Eminence in Henry County, Kentucky, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.It is a five-bay two-story frame I-house which was built as a farmhouse in about 1870 in a then-rural setting. It has a two-story ell and a one-story addition (the latter added c.1968). It has Italianate brackets under its eaves, and pilasters at the entrance bay and at its four corners.It was deemed significant as "the town's most significant remaining example of late 19th-century residential architecture."

The Highland Renaissance Festival is a permanent Renaissance Festival located on former farmland in Eminence, Kentucky and set in the fictional early 14th century village of Briarwood in the Highlands of Scotland in the time when Robert the Bruce ruled. The year 1320, to be exact. It is in the center of a triangle created by the cities of Louisville, Lexington, and Cincinnati, and is the first permanent renaissance festival in the state of Kentucky.

The Calloway House, in Shelby County, Kentucky near Eminence, Kentucky, was built around 1870. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It is Victorian vernacular with Italianate details, and stands on a cut limestone foundation.It was deemed significant on a local level "as a good example of a late 19th century center passage T-plan with Italianate details over a regional vernacular late Greek Revival house. In both form and plan, the house offers features from both eras: a low hip roof, multi light sash, and two-dimensionality of the Greek Revival; and the decorative porch frieze, polygonal bay, tall windows, and T-plan of the later Victorian era."It has also been known as S.H. Calloway House.The property includes a tobacco barn, a concrete block dairy barn, and a concrete silo east of the house, but these are not included in the smaller area listed.Its listing followed a 1986–87 study of the historic resources of Shelby County.

The Van B. Snook House, in Shelby County, Kentucky near Cropper, Kentucky, is a house was built c.1820. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.Its exterior is brick laid in Flemish bond and it is Federal in style, perhaps especially in its front doorway with sidelights and elliptical fanlight above.The property was deemed significant "as a well-preserved example of the early 19th century (1800-40) brick center-passage plan in Shelby County," whose historic resources were studied in 1986–87. The study identified 17 one-story center-passage plan houses, but "[t]his house is particularly noteworthy as it appears to be the only known example with an original projecting pedimented porch containing beaded flushboarding and a tripartite window in the tympanum." Also, its elliptical fanlight is unusual for Shelby County.The listing includes two historic outbuildings and are contributing: a board and batten-clad meathouse and a weatherboarded kitchen or wash house. The meathouse "is an integral part of a later period's domestic space, exhibiting the way outbuildings are replaced or added through time" and the kitchen or wash house is a frame outbuilding with a stone chimney that is "an extremely rare survivor from the house's original period of significance."Its listing followed a 1986-87 study of the historic resources of Shelby County.It is located on Mulberry-Eminence Pike, 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Stoney Point Rd.The house may have association with what was known as the Snook-Herr Wedding Tragedy, in which 65 or so persons became ill from poisoning and seven persons, including the father of the groom, Mr. Van Buren Snook, died. According to the account published by The Filson Historical Society (of Louisville, Kentucky), the groom lived in Henry County, Kentucky, adjacent to Shelby. The bride and groom, out of touch in Cincinnati, also were ill, and, two weeks after the wedding, the groom died too.

The Swindler House, in Shelby County, Kentucky, near Cropper, Kentucky, is a "Settlement Vernacular" home that was built c. 1825 – c. 1835 and expanded later. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The New Castle Historic Commercial District in New Castle, Kentucky is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.The 6.24 acres (2.53 ha) listed area includes 29 contributing buildings. It includes the Italianate-style Henry County Courthouse, which was separately listed on the National Register in 1977. New Castle's historic center is somewhat different from those of other Kentucky county seat towns, as it never had a railroad. Railroads reached most county seats by around 1920 and shaped development significantly. Most of the contributing buildings in the district are one- or two-story brick structures; three are log buildings.

The Henry County Courthouse, Jail, and Warden's House in New Castle, Kentucky was built in 1875. It was designed by the McDonald Brothers in a mix of Italianate, Second Empire, and other styles. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.It is a six-bay two-story brick building on a rusticated stone foundation. A stone jail and brick jailer's house extend to the rear, making the overall plan T-shaped.In 2016, the building was listed as a contributing building to the New Castle Historic Commercial District.

The Isham Henderson House, on Main Cross Rd. in New Castle in Henry County, Kentucky, was built c. 1830. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The listing included two contributing buildings (a stone house and a frame dependency) and a contributing structure (a root cellar).The house is a six-bay one-story hip roof dry stone house with a rear ell. It has nine-stone voussoirs without keystones. It had Federal/Greek transitional-style woodwork.
