California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) is a public research university in Long Beach, California. The 322-acre campus is the second largest in the California State University system (CSU). The university is one of the largest in the state of California by enrollment with a student body numbering 38,273 for the fall 2022 semester. With 5,562 graduate students as of fall 2022, the university enrolls one of the largest graduate student populations across the CSU system and in the state of California. CSULB is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High Research Activity," reflecting the university's evolution from a master's-level comprehensive university to one that awards doctorate degrees.The university is home to one of the largest publicly funded art schools in the United States. The university currently operates with one of the lowest student tuition and mandatory fee rates in the country, at $5,742 per semester for full-time students with California residence as of 2022-23. CSULB is an Hispanic-serving institution (HSI) and is eligible to be designated as an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander serving institution (AANAPISI).

The Gold Mine is a 1,900-seat multi-purpose arena in Long Beach, California on the campus of California State University, Long Beach. Opened in the late 1950s, it was known as University Gym. The Gold Mine was home to Long Beach State's basketball and volleyball teams until the Walter Pyramid opened in 1994. It used to have nearly 2400 wooden bleacher seats before a mid-80s renovation. [1] The Gold Mine is still occasionally used for volleyball and basketball games, if there is a scheduling conflict at the Pyramid. Today, its primary function is for Long Beach State intramural sports and other campus events.

The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music is the school of music at California State University, Long Beach. In March 2008, the music department was renamed the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in honor of an endowment gift of $16.4 million from the estate of Robert "Bob" Cole. Cole, a Long Beach real estate investor, long-time music lover, and amateur pianist, died in 2004. Following its disbursement, the gift will benefit the students of the conservatory in the form of scholarships and other awards.

The Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, California is a theater that hosts a variety of events, including films, forums, and musical and theatrical performances. The venue is located on the campus of California State University, Long Beach. It was built in 1994 and has seating for 1,054. The stage area was modeled after the New York State Theater of the Arts at Lincoln Center. The Carpenter Performing Arts Center is named for Richard and Karen Carpenter, alumni of the university and donors to the center. Musical Theatre West has been producing shows at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center since 1997.

The Walter Pyramid, formerly known as The Long Beach Pyramid, is a 4,000-seat, indoor multi-purpose arena on the campus of Long Beach State University in Long Beach, California.

Los Cerritos Wetlands is located in both Los Angeles County and Orange County in the cities of Long Beach, California, and Seal Beach, California. The San Gabriel River, historically and currently flows through the Los Cerritos Wetlands Complex.Los Cerritos Wetlands is very close to the Pacific Ocean with waters at high tides bringing shallow ocean water over portions of the marshland. Some portions of Los Cerritos Wetlands are fed by winter rainfall creating ephemeral pools. Once a vast marsh covering approximately 2,400 acres (971 ha), Los Cerritos Wetland are now smaller but still maintain ecological function and ecosystem processes. They were historically the wetlands of Puvunga.

VA Long Beach Healthcare System, former Naval Hospital Long Beach is a large medical treatment facility in Long Beach, California. The Veterans Administration Hospital operates the hospital on 100 acres of land at 5901 E 7th St, Long Beach. The hospital has primary care, tertiary care, and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, spinal cord injury, geriatrics, blind rehabilitation and extended care. The VA Hospital opened on June 1, 1950.The hospital opened in 1942 as a Naval Hospital in 1942 with 300 beds to serve wounded World War 2 servicemen. By the end of the war in 1945, the Naval Hospital had 1800 beds. Naval Hospital Long Beach also served as a major teaching hospital for the US Navy. In 1950 the Naval transferred the hospital to the Veterans Administration at the request of the President of the United States and the Secretary of Defense. The Navy purchased the land on September 25, 1941 from the Bixby family of Rancho Los Alamitos. Congress did not appropriate money for a new Navy hospital until 1960 and provided $9 million to build a 500-bed facility on land sold to the Navy by the city which was located at Carson and the San Gabriel River. The original site of the Navy hospital constructed at Carson Street and the San Gabriel River is now the Long Beach Towne Center.

The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a Japanese garden encompassing 1.3 acres (0.53 ha) on the campus of California State University, Long Beach, in Long Beach, California, United States. It was dedicated in 1981. Ed Lovell, landscape master plan architect for the university, traveled to Japan and took inspiration from the Imperial Gardens in Tokyo before designing the garden. Among the annual events held at the Japanese garden is a Koi auction and a chrysanthemum show.It is adjacent to the village site of Puvunga. In the trenching for the garden, evidence of the ancient Tongva village was uncovered in the early 1970s.The garden is closed on Saturdays (when it is often rented out for weddings and receptions) and Mondays.
