County of Guastalla

The Duchy of Guastalla was an Italian state which existed between 1621 and 1748. It was bordered by the Duchy of Modena and Reggio and the Po River to the north, on the opposite bank of the Duchy of Mantua.

The Battle of Guastalla or Battle of Luzzara was a battle fought on 19 September 1734 between Franco-Sardinian and Austrian (Habsburg) troops as part of the War of the Polish Succession.

The Ducal Palace of Guastalla (Palazzo Ducale di Guastalla or Palazzo Gonzaga di Guastalla) is an urban Renaissance-style palace in the town of Guastalla, a municipality in the Province of Reggio Emilia, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. It was built on the site of a 15th-century palazzo of the Conti Torelli family, and rebuilt in the next century by Francesco Capriana (Francesco da Volterra), under commission to the Count of Guastalla, Cesare I Gonzaga. Neglected for years, it is currently a museum of the city. It contains art works from antique Roman cemeteries, paintings from deconsecrated chapels and oratories, as well as an exhibit of the modern watercolor painters Mario Bolzoni.

The Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of the Gate (Santuario della Beata Vergine della Porta) is a Baroque style, Roman Catholic church in the town of Guastalla, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The Sanctuary takes its name from the presence of the ancient gate of St. Francis (Porta di San Francesco) near the site.

The Crostolo is a stream (a "torrente") in the Province of Reggio Emilia, Emilia-Romagna Region, Italy. It starts in the Apennines of the province of Reggio Emilia and flows northwards, passing through the provincial capital, Reggio nell'Emilia until it empties into the river Po near Guastalla.

Gualtieri (Mantovano: Gualtēr) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Reggio Emilia, in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) northwest of Bologna and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) north of Reggio Emilia on the right bank of the Po river. Historically, it suffered numerous floods, the last occurring in 1951. It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy").

Dosolo (Casalasco-Viadanese: Dözul) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Mantua in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) southeast of Milan and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) southwest of Mantua. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,265 and an area of 26.0 square kilometres (10.0 sq mi).The municipality of Dosolo contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Correggioverde and Villastrada. Dosolo borders the following municipalities: Gualtieri, Guastalla, Luzzara, Pomponesco, Suzzara, Viadana.

San Bernardino (Reggiano: Sân Bernardèin) is a frazione of Novellara in the province of Reggio Emilia. It has a population of 326 inhabitants.

Luzzara (Guastallese: Lüsèra) is a comune in the province of Reggio Emilia, in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. It is located at the northern end of the province, on the right bank of the river Po. Luzzara is the birthplace of the composer Maurizio Cazzati and film director and writer Cesare Zavattini. It is also the place where the Battle of Luzzara in the Spanish War of Succession was fought.

Pomponesco (Casalasco-Viadanese: Pumpunésch) is a comune in the Italian Province of Mantua. As of 2007, the estimated population of Pomponesco was 1,770.It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy"). The experimental musical artist Maurizio Bianchi was born there in 1955.

Boretto borders the following municipalities: Brescello, Castelnovo di Sotto, Gualtieri, Pomponesco, Poviglio, Viadana. Among the churches is the Basilica Minore of San Marco and Santa Croce.
