Brunswick High School (Maine)

Crystal Spring Farm is a historic farm property at 277 Pleasant Hill Road in Brunswick, Maine. The 160-acre (65 ha) property has an agricultural history dating to the early 19th century, although most of its buildings are now of mid-20th century origin. The property is now owned by the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust, and is operated as a community farm. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Growstown School is a historic one-room school located in the Growstown neighborhood of Brunswick, Maine, United States. Built in 1849, and opened on February 22 of that year, it was saved from demolition in 1971 after local residents intervened, an act that included the installation of a new roof on the property. It was restored over time, including by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) in 1983 (which turned it into a living history center) and later by the town's public works department. It is now the only remaining one-room schoolhouse in Brunswick of a one-time twenty-six. Betty Fitzjarrald, who chaired the restoration effort for the AAUW, died in 2022, aged 87.Children were still attending the school in the mid-20th century.The school was part of a case study published in 1984 by Andrew Gulliford.In 2015, it was discovered that the school's foundation was failing, a repair for which was estimated to be between $40,000 and $70,000. Seven years earlier, its floor joists and support beams were found to be deteriorated to the point that they were no longer being effective. The school was declared unsafe in March 2014.The following year, Brunswick Rotary Club installed a bronze plaque on the building, which stands at the intersection of Church Road and Woodside Road.Fifth-grade schoolchildren from around Maine attend the school in the fall and spring to experience school life as it would have been in the 1850s. They are not allowed to bring modern conveniences, such as cell phones or lunch boxes, into the school. In addition, their school buses drop them off a few blocks away so that they have to walk to the school, as the children of the period did.

Maquoit Bay is a bay in Cumberland County, Maine, in the northern part of Casco Bay. It is located between South Freeport and Mere Point, Brunswick, and is a Focus Area of Statewide Ecological Significance and one of the state's Important Bird Areas.The mouth of Maquoit Bay faces southwest, which results in its becoming a receptacle for nutrients flowing in from Casco Bay. The mixing of these nutrients with the organic material of the bay's salt marshes, a process assisted by the tides and the confluences of surrounding watercourses, creates a rich environment for marine life. On top of the large amounts of shellfish, the bay is also home to thousands of waterfowl, wading birds and shorebirds all year round. Shorebirds, in particular, undertake complete annual migration round trips of up to 20,000 miles, taking them to nesting areas in the Arctic and winter homes in South America, and many hundreds of them stop in Maquoit Bay to rest for the next leg of their journey.

The Henry Boody House also known as the Boody-Johnson House, is an historic house at 256 Maine Street in Brunswick, Maine, United States. Built in 1849, it is an important early example of Gothic Revival Architecture, whose design was published by Andrew Jackson Downing in 1850 and received wide notice. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on 1975.

The Richardson House, also known as the Captain George McManus House, is a historic house at 11 Lincoln Street in Brunswick, Maine. Built in 1857, it is a fine local example of transitional Greek Revival-Italianate architecture in brick. McManus, for whom it was built, was a prominent local ship's captain. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. For a time, it housed the museum of the Pejepscot Historical Society.

Pennellville Historic District is a residential district located in Brunswick, Maine. To locals, the neighborhood is known simply as "Pennellville." There are several historic ship captains' houses in the District; much of the real estate is waterfront property. The area's historic significance centers on the shipbuilding company and shipyard, Pennell Brothers, on Middle Bay Cove. Pennell Brothers built wooden ships for the 18th and 19th century shipping trade. About 90 tall ships were produced at the yard.

The Peary–MacMillan Arctic Museum is a museum located in the John and Lile Gibbons Center for Arctic Studies at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Named after Arctic explorers and Bowdoin College graduates Robert E. Peary (Class of 1877) and Donald B. MacMillan (Class of 1898), it is the only museum in the lower 48 states of the United States dedicated completely to Arctic Studies.

The Bowdoin College Museum of Art is an art museum located in Brunswick, Maine. Included on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum is located in a building on the campus of Bowdoin College designed by the architectural firm McKim, Mead, and White. The Museum’s landmark Walker Art Building was commissioned for the College by Harriet and Sophia Walker in honor of their uncle, a Boston businessman who had supported the creation of the first small art gallery at Bowdoin in the mid-nineteenth century. Designed by Charles Follen McKim of McKim, Mead, & White, the building was completed in 1894 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. At the entrance are a pair of Medici lion sculptures.

Sidney J. Watson Arena, or simply Watson Arena, is an ice hockey arena on the campus of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Watson Arena seats 1,900 plus additional standing room. The arena opened on January 18, 2009, and is home to the Bowdoin Polar Bears men's and women's ice hockey teams. The arena is named for former Athletic Director Sid Watson.Watson Arena was the first newly constructed ice arena built in the United States to earn LEED certification.

Bowdoin College ( BOW-dn) is a private liberal arts college in Brunswick, Maine. When Bowdoin was chartered in 1794, Maine was still a part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The college offers 35 majors and 40 minors, as well as several joint engineering programs with Columbia, Caltech, Dartmouth College, and the University of Maine.The college was a founding member of its athletic conference, the New England Small College Athletic Conference, and the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin Consortium, an athletic conference and inter-library exchange with Bates College and Colby College. Bowdoin has over 30 varsity teams, and the school mascot was selected as a polar bear in 1913 to honor Robert Peary, a Bowdoin alumnus who led the first successful expedition to the North Pole. Between the years 1821 and 1921, Bowdoin operated a medical school called the Medical School of Maine.The main Bowdoin campus is located near Casco Bay and the Androscoggin River. In addition to its Brunswick campus, Bowdoin owns a 118-acre (48 ha) coastal studies center on Orr's Island and a 200-acre (81 ha) scientific field station on Kent Island in the Bay of Fundy.

Brunswick Maine Street Station, or Brunswick station, is a multi-modal, multi-use real estate development in Brunswick, Maine. Located on Maine Street, it consists of commercial offices, service centers, healthcare, retail, restaurants, theater and residential space. Brunswick Station is also a transportation hub for city buses, taxis, and passenger trains.The development is split into two parts, the "West" and "East" sides (West and East of Union Street respectively). The west side will consist mostly of residential apartments and homes, along with some retail and commercial office space. The east side consists of mostly retail and commercial office space, along with some apartments. The east side is also the location of the passenger train station. This development was built on the vacant lots surrounding the railroad junction between Portland, Lewiston, Augusta, and Rockland.
