Kurortny District (Russian: Куро́ртный райо́н) is a district of the federal city of St. Petersburg (since 1994), Russia, located on the Karelian Isthmus along the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland. As of the 2010 Census, its population: was 70,589; up from 67,511 recorded in the 2002 Census.

Komarovo (Russian: Комаро́во, IPA: [kəmɐˈrovə]; Finnish: Kellomäki) is a municipal settlement in Kurortny District of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia, located in the Karelian Isthmus on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, and a station of the Saint Petersburg-Vyborg railroad. It is about 45 kilometers (28 mi) northwest of central Saint Petersburg. Population: 1,230 (2010 Census); 1,062 (2002 Census); 1,635 (1989 Soviet census). Komarovo is renowned for being the residence of numerous Russian intellectuals and prominent figures in science and culture. Among some of its most notable residents were, for example, three Nobel Prize laureates: Ivan Pavlov, Joseph Brodsky, and Zhores Alferov. The list also includes renowned individuals such as jeweller Peter Carl Fabergé, composer Dmitri Shostakovich, poet Anna Akhmatova, dissident Dmitry Likhachev, ballet dancers Mathilde Kschessinska and Galina Ulanova, film actor Innokenty Smoktunovsky, as well as science-fiction authors Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, among many others. During the summer months, the population increases by a factor of five to six.[2]

Solnechnoye (Russian: Со́лнечное; Finnish: Ollila) is a municipal settlement in Kurortny District of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia, located on the Karelian Isthmus, on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland. Population: 1,370 (2010 Census); 1,161 (2002 Census); 1,574 (1989 Soviet census). Before the Winter War and Continuation War, it was a part of Finland and was located near the border with the Soviet Union.

The Shelling of Mainila (Finnish: Mainilan laukaukset, Swedish: Skotten i Mainila), or the Mainila incident (Russian: Майнильский инцидент, romanized: Maynilskiy intsident), was a military incident on 26 November 1939 in which the Soviet Union's Red Army shelled the Soviet border village of Mainila (Russian: Майнило, romanized: Maynilo) near Beloostrov. The Soviet Union declared that the fire originated from Finland across the nearby border and claimed to have had losses in personnel. Through that false flag operation, the Soviet Union gained a great propaganda boost and a casus belli for launching the Winter War four days later. Historians have now concluded that the shelling of Mainila was a fabrication carried out by the Soviet NKVD state security agency.

Miller's pier (Russian: при́стань Ми́ллера, Pristan Millera), is a railway station at the quay in Sestroretsk Kurort, Russia. The 50-metre (160 ft) pier was constructed from boulders dumped into the Gulf of Finland. In time, the harbour acquired the name "Miller's Harbour". On the bay coast, in 1875, a branch line was laid to the landing stage, and the first structures were erected on it in the same year. In 1899–1900 the Kurort's esplanade was opened, and the line was surrounded with two low enclosures.

Kurort (Russian: Куро́рт), is a railway station in Sestroretsk, Russia. The station was constructed simultaneously with the sanatorium, the Sestroretsk Kurort.

Sestroretsk railway station (Russian: ста́нция Сестроре́цк, stantsiya Sestroretsk) is a railway station in Sestroretsk, Russia. It replaced the old Sestroretsk railway station, which closed in 1924.

The City Hospital No 40 of Saint Petersburg, Russia, belongs to the largest health care facilities (more than 1000 beds) for delivering in-patient definitive and specialized medical care in North West Russia. The official name is The Saint Petersburg State Health Care Establishment the City Hospital No 40 of the Resort District. The Hospital is situated within the boundaries of the city of Sestroretsk.

Sestroretsk (Russian: Сестроре́цк; Finnish: Siestarjoki; Swedish: Systerbäck) is a municipal town in Kurortny District of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia, located on the shores of the Gulf of Finland, the Sestra River and the Sestroretskiy Lake 34 kilometers (21 mi) northwest of St. Petersburg. Population: 37,248 (2010 Census); 40,287 (2002 Census); 35,498 (1989 Census); 30,500 (1975).

The Battle of Systerbäck took place on July 19, 1703 near the Sestra River during the Great Northern War. The Swedish army under the command of Abraham Cronhjort had to pull back to escape encirclement of the much larger Russian force under Boris Sheremetev. The two sides estimated their losses to 390 Swedish dead and wounded and 150 Russians dead and wounded.

Sestroretsk railway station (Russian: ста́нция Сестроре́цк, stantsiya Sestroretsk) was a railway station in Sestroretsk, Russia handling transportation to northern destinations including Beloostrov and Sestroretsk. The station was built by Finnish State Railways as the railhead feeder of Riihimäki–Saint Petersburg railway. It was designed by Swedish architects and it opened on 2 November 1871, when the station's first train arrived from Beloostrov. The Sestroretsk spur line was constructed to serve Sestroretsk armory.

Razliv railway station (Russian: Ста́нция Разли́в) is a railway station in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was built by the JSC Prinorskaya Saint Peterburg–Sestroretsk railway and opened on November 26, 1894, when the Primorskaya line was extended from Razdelnaya (now Lisy Nos) to Sestroretsk.
