Sacred Heart High School (East Grand Forks, Minnesota)

East Grand Forks (also known as EGF) is a city in Polk County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 9,176 at the 2020 Census, making it the largest community in Polk County. It is located in the Red River Valley region along the eastern bank of the Red River of the North, directly across from the larger city of Grand Forks, North Dakota. The cities of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks form the center of the Grand Forks, ND–MN Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is often called Greater Grand Forks. The population was 104,362 at the 2020 Census.

The Hamm Brewing Company Beer Depot in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, United States, is a warehouse listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hamm's Brewery built their first cold-storage warehouse in East Grand Forks in 1890. In 1897, they moved to a larger depot, and then in 1907, they built the present building, which backed up to a railroad spur. The growing use of refrigerator cars at the end of the 19th century made it possible for more small breweries to ship their beer to larger markets. The Hamm's depot was one of six such cold-storage warehouses on DeMers Avenue in 1909.

The Sorlie Memorial Bridge, also known as the Red River Bridge, was constructed in 1929 by the Minneapolis Bridge Company to connect the cities of Grand Forks, North Dakota and East Grand Forks, Minnesota. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.The Sorlie Memorial Bridge replaced a swing bridge on the same site that was built in 1889. It is a Parker through truss bridge with two truss spans and rides on rails to accommodate the ever-changing banks of the Red River of the North. The Sorlie Memorial Bridge was named for North Dakota's 14th governor, Arthur G. Sorlie. Plaques on either end identify Sorlie as "a true friend of better roads and bridges." At the time, the bridge was the only vehicular crossing in the area, and was important for carrying U.S. Route 2, a transcontinental route. It is the oldest documented Parker truss design in the state, and its two spans of 283 feet (86 m) are the longest riveted Parker through trusses in the state.

Viets Hotel was an 1876 vernacular Greek Revival building in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In proceeding years it had been the Richardson House (by 1884), a subdivided residence (by 1896), the Hall Hotel (from around 1906 until at least 1938), Hotel Apartments (1940), Hall Apartments (1942–88), and Bachellor Apartments (1989–97).The listing was proposed in a 1981 study of Downtown Grand Forks historical resources., and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.The structure was heavily damaged after the 1997 Red River flood and destroyed by fire in 2000. The location is now occupied by a dike. It was officially delisted from the National Register in 2018.

The Greater Grand Forks Greenway is a huge greenway bordering the Red River and Red Lake River in the twin cities of Grand Forks, North Dakota and East Grand Forks, Minnesota (commonly called Greater Grand Forks). At 2,200 acres (9 km2), the Greenway is more than twice the size of New York City's Central Park. It has an extensive, 20-mile (32 km) system of bike paths, which are used by bikers, walkers, joggers, and rollerbladers. In 2007, the system was designated as a National Recreation Trail by the National Park Service.Several city parks and golf courses are also located within the Greenway on each side of the river. Other amenities include wildlife observation areas, a state campground, fishing areas, interpretive displays, wildflower gardens, and fields for various athletics including softball, basketball, and disc golf. The Greenway was developed after the devastating Red River Flood of 1997. The land encompasses large areas of the floodplain along the rivers, which are subject to seasonal flooding, often severe. These areas had previously been developed for residential and business uses, much of which were damaged or destroyed in the 1997 flood, with major property losses. To protect the communities, a massive new dike system was built. It required removal of several residential areas on both sides of the river, most of which had been inundated and severely damaged. The Greenway includes the area of floodplain between these new dikes and the rivers. Today, the Greenway serves the dual purpose of providing recreational opportunities throughout the year for metropolitan area residents, and being part of the regional flood prevention program. Its trees and greenery can absorb some of floodwaters naturally. The dikes provide another level of protection to hold back river waters from the built-up city areas beyond.

The Red Lake River (French: Rivière du Lac Rouge; Ojibwe: Miskwaagamiiwi-zaaga'iganiiwi-ziibi) is a river located in northwestern Minnesota. The river begins on the western side of the Lower Red Lake and flows westward. After passing through Thief River Falls, Red Lake Falls, and Crookston, the river merges with the Red River of the North in East Grand Forks. The total length of the river is 193 miles (311 km) The term "Forks" in Grand Forks comes from this forking (confluence) of the Red and Red Lake rivers near downtown Grand Forks.As a tributary of the Red River, the Red Lake River contributed to the heavy flooding of Greater Grand Forks in 1997. The river also caused damage in its own right, albeit less severe, in Crookston.

"Greater Grand Forks" (officially the Grand Forks, ND-MN Metropolitan Statistical Area) is the name used by some people to designate the twin cities of Grand Forks, North Dakota and East Grand Forks, Minnesota, together with their surrounding areas. The two cities lie directly across from each other on both sides of the Red River of the North, but Grand Forks, with a population of 59,166, is more than five times larger than East Grand Forks, with a population of 9,176. The metropolitan area includes all of the related two counties in the two states: Grand Forks County in North Dakota and Polk County in Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the MSA had a population of 104,362, and in 2021 estimates placed the total population at 103,462.The metropolitan area is also sometimes called "The Forks." Several years ago local promoters attempted to "brand" the metropolitan area as "The Grand Cities." This name has not found widespread use in the area, although several buildings and organizations now bear the "Grand Cities" title. Occasionally, the city of Grand Forks uses the nickname "The Sunflake City."

The Building at 317 S. 3rd St. in Grand Forks, North Dakota was built circa 1884 in a style that has been described as Early Commercial and Vernacular.Among other uses it lodged overflow patrons of the next door Richardson House.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It was destroyed by the 1997 Grand Forks Flood, and was officially delisted in 2018.

When listed the property included just one contributing building on an area of less than 1 acre (0.40 ha).The property was covered in a 1981 study of Downtown Grand Forks historical resources.

The Building at 201 S. 3rd St. is a property in Grand Forks, North Dakota that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is a 1+1⁄2-story commercial building that was built in 1888, when it replaced a small frame building that had housed a harness shop. It is "one of three frame storefront buildings in Grand Forks dating from the early period of frame construction along South Third Street, which was the original main thoroughfare in the city between 1870 and the coming of the railroad and the great Dakota Boom in the 1880s. It represents the first period of early boom town building in the city.": 3 The listing is just for the one building, on an area of less than 1 acre (0.40 ha). At the time of listing, the building was vacant.The listing is described in its North Dakota Cultural Resources Survey document.The property was covered in a 1981 study of Downtown Grand Forks historical resources. After the Red River Flood of 1997, the building was moved in its entirety across the street to 216 S. 3rd, between a parking ramp and a pre-existing brick building, keeping the structure's integrity intact.

Speed Printing is a building in Grand Forks, North Dakota that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It was built in 1889, as part of a construction boom resulting from the completion of the railroad, and includes "Early Frame Vernacular" architecture.

The Metropolitan Opera House (or The Met) is located at 116 South Third Street in the downtown area of Grand Forks, North Dakota, USA. The building, constructed in 1890, faces the Red River of the North and sits between the BNSF Railway tracks and a parking structure. At one time, the Opera House was considered the best opera house between Minneapolis and Seattle. Today, the building has been converted into an apartment building called the Opera House Lofts.
