Riwaka

The Motueka River is located in the north of the South Island of New Zealand and is a popular tourist destination for watersports and fishing. The Motueka flows 116 kilometres (72 mi) from the mountains 40 km west of the city of Nelson in the southeast of the catchment and flows north to the Tasman Bay.

The Riuwaka River, formerly known as the Riwaka River, is located in the Nelson region in the northwest of New Zealand's South Island. It flows for 20 kilometres, entering Tasman Bay close to the town of Riwaka, 10 kilometres north of Motueka. The valleys of the Riuwaka and nearby Tākaka River form part of the pass over which the only road between Tasman Bay and Golden Bay runs. For part of its journey, the river flows underground through limestone caves, returning to the open air at The Riuwaka Resurgence. This spot is popular with both holidaymakers and divers, as the water is always crystal clear, and is very cold even in the heat of mid-summer. The name of the river was officially altered to Riuwaka River in August 2014, following the Treaty of Waitangi settlements between the Crown and local iwi Ngāti Rārua and Te Atiawa o Te Waka-a-Māui.

Memorial Park is a cricket ground in Motueka, Tasman, New Zealand. Memorial Park is jointly owned by Tasman District Council and Wakatū Incorporation, a company representing 4,000 shareholders who are descendants of the original Te Tau Ihu Māori of the area. The first recorded match held on the ground came in January 1950 when Nelson played Marlborough in the 1950/51 Hawke Cup. The ground later held a single List A match when Central Districts played Otago in the 1987/88 Shell Cup, which Central Districts won by 52 runs. Senior cricket hasn't been played at the ground since.

Brooklyn is a settlement and rural valley in the Tasman District of New Zealand's upper South Island. It is located on the outskirts of Motueka, and is dominated by orchards. The Brooklyn Recreation Reserve, a flat, 4.6 ha grassed reserve, was donated to Tasman District Council in 1984. It includes remnants of lowland forest the council has deemed "significant", including a hillside of tawhai rauriki or black beech and regenerating native forest dominated by kānuka. The reserve has had limited weeds and no outbreak of wild pigs. Brooklyn is connected to Woodstock by a cycling trail. In 2018, Tourism Minister Kelvin Davis announced funding to upgrade the trail. The Blue Gum corner of Motueka River, just outside the village, is a river swimming spot.

Motueka High School is a coeducational secondary school in Motueka, New Zealand established in 1955.

Motueka is a town in the South Island of New Zealand, close to the mouth of the Motueka River on the western shore of Tasman Bay. It is the second largest in the Tasman Region, with a population of 8,320 as of June 2023.The surrounding district has a number of apple, pear and kiwifruit orchards, as well as growing a variety of specialised crops such as hops. The area formerly served as the main centre of tobacco growing in New Zealand until the early 1980s. A number of small vineyards have also been developed. Nearby beaches (such as Kaiteriteri and Mārahau) are very popular with holidaymakers, and the area around Motueka has one of the country's highest annual sunshine-hour indices. Riwaka lies 4.8 km north of Motueka via State Highway 60 and Nelson is 41.7 km to the east of Motueka via State Highway 60 and State Highway 6. Motueka, as one of the nearest towns to the Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Parks, has become the base of many tourism ventures, as well as in Nelson Lakes National Park, and in other recreational areas. Extensive limestone cave systems (including Harwoods Hole in the Tākaka Hill area north of Motueka) attract cavers and rock climbers. Sea kayaking, tramping and canyoning now attract many thousands of visitors each year. Many artists live in the area around Motueka, especially potters and reggae musicians. The Riverside Community, in nearby Lower Moutere, is a pacifist intentional community. Founded in the 1940s, it is New Zealand's oldest cooperative living community.

Kaiteriteri is a town and seaside resort in the Tasman Region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is close to both Mārahau, the main gateway to Abel Tasman National Park, and the town of Motueka. Kaiteriteri is a small coastal town reliant on tourism for much of its income, and there are many accommodation providers, cafés, pubs and restaurants. It is also a hub for the adventure tourism throughout the area and into Abel Tasman National Park. A number of walking and mountainbiking trails, including the Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park, begin from or pass through the town. While it is most visited during the summer months, its temperate climate and low rainfall make it destination outside of peak season also. Nearby Breakers Bay is popular with nudists. A number of water taxis, larger boats, and sea kayak companies depart from Kaiteriteri, taking visitors deeper into the national park.

Motueka Ward is a ward of Tasman District in the north of the South Island of New Zealand.

The Moutere River is a river of the Tasman Region of New Zealand's South Island. It flows north from its origins southwest of Māpua, reaching Tasman Bay / Te Tai-o-Aorere at the Moutere Inlet, a tidal lagoon three kilometres south of Motueka.

Lower Moutere is a settlement in the Tasman District of New Zealand's upper South Island. It is a farming community it the Lower Moutere valley, 6 km (3.7 mi) from Motueka close to the Moutere Inlet.The road up the valley from Motueka to Upper Moutere is an alternative to the main State Highway 60 route between Nelson and Motueka.The Riverside Community was established in Lower Moutere in 1941 by a small group of Methodist pacifists, and continues to operate a dairy farm and cafe. As of 2013 about 24 people were permanent members and 19 children lived there, but the community’s population sometimes doubled due to visitors, including WWOOFers (Willing Workers on Organic Farms).The Lower Moutere Memorial Hall features a plaque commemorating the three local men who died and 35 local men who served overseas during World War II. A memorial gate commemorates those who died or were served during World War I.Moutere is the Māori word for 'island'.Native birds are common in the area, and a kākā was found in the area in January 2020.

Riverside Community is a village at Lower Moutere, near Motueka, New Zealand, founded by Christian pacifists in 1941.

The Ngārua Caves are a series of limestone caves in the Takaka Hill range south of Abel Tasman National Park. The caves are located close to Takaka Hill's summit, adjacent to State Highway 60 as it winds its way over the Takaka Hill between Motueka and Upper Takaka. Scheduled tours suitable for people of all ages are provided by a commercial operator from the car park and cafe situated at the cave entrance. The caves cannot be visited unattended.Ngārua Caves contain a variety of cave formations along a comfortable 300 metres (980 ft) walkway through the caves, as well as notable displays of Moa bones remaining in the caves. Ngārua Caves is listed as one of the "101 Must-Do's for Kiwis".
