Painesville-on-the-Lake, Ohio

The CSX Painesville bridge is a concrete viaduct located just outside city limits in Painesville Township in northeast Ohio. It is about 350 feet (110 m) long and 100 feet (30 m) above the Grand River. The bridge was built in 1908 for the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway. It has served the Lake Shore, New York Central, Penn Central, Conrail, and its current owner CSX. An average 50 trains daily cross the span, including two Amtrak Lake Shore Limited trains, no. 48 and 49. The bridge is bracketed by two highway spans, just to the south is US Route 20 bridge and just to the north is Ohio State Route 2.

St. James Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church at 131 North State Street in Painesville, Ohio. The main building was built in 1865 in a Gothic Revival style and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Morley Library is a medium-sized public library that is supported by both state funds and a local tax levy. The original library was founded in 1899. The Methodist Episcopal Church of Painesville (also known as Painesville United Methodist Church) is a historic church building at 71 N. Park Place in Painesville, Ohio. It was built in 1873 in a Gothic Revival style and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Lake County Courthouse located in Painesville, Ohio was designed in an eclectic Beaux-Arts style by Cleveland architect J. Milton Dyer. It was completed in 1909.Dyer, a well known Cleveland, Ohio architect had previously collaborated with Cleveland sculptor Herman Matzen on the Summit County Courthouse (Ohio), located in Akron, Ohio, in 1906. For the Lake County Courthouse Matzen produced evocative figures of Cain and Abel.

Their mascot is the Skippers and compete as a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association and is a member of the Northeastern Athletic Conference.

Fairport Harbor is a village in Lake County, Ohio, United States, along Lake Erie at the mouth of the Grand River. The population was 3,108 at the 2020 census. A far-eastern suburb of Cleveland, it is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. Fairport Harbor is home to two lighthouses: the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Light in Painesville Township, operated by the United States Coast Guard and the Grand River (Fairport Harbor) Light operated by the Fairport Harbor Historical Society. It is also the home of the Finnish Heritage Museum.

Painesville Township is one of the five townships of Lake County, Ohio, United States. The population was 20,453 at the 2020 census. It is part of Greater Cleveland in the Northeast Ohio Region, the 15th largest combined statistical area in the United States.

The Grand River (Fairport Harbor) Light is located in the village of Fairport Harbor, Ohio. The lighthouse was built in 1871 and has a 60-foot tower with a detached keeper's house. The light was decommissioned in 1925, replaced by the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Light. At one time the Coast guard considered using the keeper's house to house their personnel and demolish the tower but a letter writing campaign by local residents prevented it from happening. In 1945 the Coast Guard turned over ownership of the light to the town. The tower is open to the public and the keeper's house currently serves as the Fairport Harbor Marine Museum and Lighthouse (the first of its kind in the country), operated by the Fairport Harbor Historical Society. Visitors can climb the lighthouse for a view of the harbor. Founded in 1945, the museum features exhibits about the history of the lighthouse and its keepers, a Fresnel lens, lifesaving equipment, life on the Great Lakes, ship models and maritime artifacts. There is a gift shop. The former pilothouse from the Great Lakes carrier the Frontenac is attached to the museum's building. The museum is open seasonally, and is located at 129 Second Street. The lighthouse and museum are said to be haunted. Legend has it that a ghost cat haunts the facility. Volunteers and tourists alike have reported feeling a cat rub against them, although the cat is never seen.
