CJIB-FM

CICF-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 105.7 FM in Vernon, British Columbia with a country format branded on-air as Pure Country 105.7. The station is owned by Bell Media. The station began broadcasting on October 23, 1978 at 1050 kHz as CKAL. In 1981, CKAL added FM transmitters to rebroadcast the programming of CKAL in Nakusp, New Denver, and Kaslo, while another one was added to Armstrong/Enderby on 89.7 MHz in 1986. CKAL became CICF in 1987. The rebroadcasters CICF-FM-2 New Denver and CICF-FM-3 Kaslo were granted to change their programming source from CICF to CKKC in Nelson in 1990, and CICF-FM-1 Nakusp was shut down in 1997 and taken over by CKKC. The "CKAL" calls are now used by a television station in Calgary, Alberta. On November 28, 2001, CICF moved to FM band at 105.7 MHz, and became hot adult contemporary station Sun FM. CICF was acquired by Astral Media in 2007 along with the former terrestrial broadcasting assets of Standard Radio. By 2010, CICF switched to CHR/Top 40. On November 19, 2020, the station flipped to country as Pure Country 105.7, becoming the latest Bell Media station to adopt the "Pure Country" branding. CIMX-FM in Windsor, Ontario and CJCJ-FM in Woodstock, New Brunswick would also switch to the "Pure Country" format and branding the same day.

Clarence Fulton Secondary is a public high school in Vernon, British Columbia part of School District 22 Vernon. It is named after Clarence Fulton, former principal of several Vernon schools. Previously there was another high school named Fulton Secondary located beside Polson Park before being replaced by the current school in 1993 located in the Okanagan Landing area.

Lumby Junction is a railway point in Osoyoos Division Yale Land District, British Columbia, Canada, near the north end of Kalamalka Lake, at coordinates 50°14′N 119°16′W. Lumby Junction is on the Kelowna Pacific Railway, which operated over railway lines leased from Canadian National Railway Company until Kelowna Pacific entered receivership and ceased operations on June 6, 2013. On September 26, 2013, Canadian National announced that it had reached agreements with a major shipper and two locals of the Teamsters union that would allow CN to resume operations over most of the Kelowna Pacific. CN said it planned to abandon the line between Lumby Junction and Kelowna.

Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is a hospital located in Vernon, British Columbia, a city in the Okanagan region of Canada. Initial examination for constructing a hospital in Vernon began in 1895, when residents of the city demanded a hospital to be created. It was ultimately incorporated in 1897 and serves the North Okanagan regional district. The Vernon Jubilee Hospital offers core physician specialty, and emergency departments, in addition to acute and obstetrical care. This facility is home to 196 beds, although people who would like services that are not offered at the hospital are transferred to the Kelowna General Hospital, which is located in nearby city Kelowna. There has been consideration for more beds to be offered at the hospital.The addition of 60 beds and the completion of the sixth and seventh floor at Vernon Jubilee Hospital Polson Tower, originally set aside, with future patient needs in mind. Of the 60 beds, 14 will be new and the remaining 46 will be relocated from elsewhere in the hospital. The beds will be used primarily for single-patient rooms. Previously, they were located in four-bed and double-occupancy wards. The total number of beds at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital will increase from 140 regular and eight temporary beds (148 total) to 162 beds. Completed as part of the Kelowna / Vernon Hospitals Project, the Polson Tower includes an expanded emergency, maternity and pediatrics department, ambulatory care, surgical services, intensive care, and medical device reprocessing. The Polson Tower was also recently awarded a LEED Gold certification and is the first building in Vernon to achieve this. The Polson Tower was officially opened for patients in October 2011. The $180-million Polson Tower added 16,815 square metres (181,000 square feet) of space to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital site.

Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park and Protected Area is a provincial park in Coldstream, British Columbia, Canada. Located within the Okanagan region, the park encompasses a land area of about 978 hectares (2,420 acres) of pristine natural areas in the North Okanagan Regional District. Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park and Protected Area adopted its current name from Kalamalka Lake, for which it is located on its shore. During the process of entering summer, calcium carbonate forms crystals that reflect sunlight and create the vivid blue and green colours. Temperature changes in the fall and the spring sometimes create ribbons of deep blue colour in the lake, seen from the park. The park is a preserved remnant of the natural grasslands that once stretched from Vernon to Osoyoos. There are several forests and cross-country ski trails available throughout the year, along with two archaeological sites. Mammals include coyote, deer, black bear, Columbian ground squirrel, marmot, mink, bobcat and red fox.

Okanagan Landing was an unincorporated settlement and steamboat port at the north end of Okanagan Lake in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. Located southwest of the city of Vernon, it was the terminus station for the Shuswap and Okanagan Railway and served as the port and shipyard for steamboats operating to the south, as well as a transfer barge slip.

Greater Vernon is a conglomeration of municipalities centred on Vernon, British Columbia, which is a city in the Okanagan region of Canada. The metropolitan area includes Vernon itself, in addition to Coldstream, as well as Coldstream's neighborhood of Lavington. The Greater Vernon area is served by School District 22 Vernon, which provides school services for children in the area. Its population was 67,086 at the 2021 census, a 5.7 percent increase from its population during the 2016 census, which was 61,324. 44,519 of those that live in Greater Vernon are based in Vernon.

Vernon is a city in the Okanagan region of the Southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. It is 440 km (270 mi) northeast of Vancouver. Named after Forbes George Vernon, a former MLA of British Columbia who helped establish the Coldstream Ranch in nearby Coldstream, the City of Vernon was incorporated on December 30, 1892. The City of Vernon has a population of 40,000 (2013), while its metropolitan region, Greater Vernon, has a population of 58,584 as of the Canada 2011 Census. With this population, Vernon is the largest city in the North Okanagan Regional District. A resident of Vernon is called a "Vernonite".

Kekuli Bay Provincial Park, formerly Kalamalka West Provincial Park, is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, located on the west shore of Kalamalka Lake on BC Highway 97 south of Vernon. The lake is popular for waterskiing and boating, and the park includes a boat launch, as well as a campground with a view of the lake. The park was established in 1990. Its size is about 57 hectares (140 acres).
