Henry Wise Wood High School (HWW) is a public high school located in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. The school was built in 1961 and is named after Henry Wise Wood, an Alberta pioneer who was instrumental in forming the Alberta Wheat Pool and the United Farmers of Alberta. Wood is regarded as an influential individual in Canadian agricultural and farming history.Academically, the school offers the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB), and the Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE), in addition to the full range of academic programs standard to the province. The school also offers the Calgary Board of Education's Traditional Learning Centre program. The school is part of the Action for Bright Children Society. A unique option in the IB Programme that the school offers to students as an additional Group 3 subject is Philosophy 20/30 SL IB, which is made available bi-annually. Henry Wise Wood has a music program that includes a symphonic band, jazz band, and choir.

Meadowlark Park is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located immediately west from the Chinook Centre, east of Elbow Drive and north of the Glenmore Trail. It is named for the Meadowlark bird. Chinook Centre (formally branded as "CF Chinook Centre") is the largest shopping mall in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is located near the geographic centre of the city on Macleod Trail, north of Glenmore Trail about 5 km (3.1 mi) south of downtown, and three blocks west of the Chinook C-Train station. The mall is operated by Cadillac Fairview. CF Chinook Centre covers (1,377,768 square feet (127,998.8 m2)) of space, and includes three major anchor stores (Hudson's Bay, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue) and 250 stores and restaurants. As the largest shopping destination in Calgary, it offers a range of mid-priced retailers as well as higher-end offerings in a luxury wing anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue. Junior anchors include Sport Chek, H&M, Old Navy, and Chapters. The centre also includes a professional tower, bowling alley, 900-seat Dining Hall, and the 16-screen Scotiabank Theatre Chinook. The focal point of the mall is a four-storey-high rotunda, including a time capsule at the centre's axis, set to be opened on December 31, 2999.

Kelvin Grove is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by Glenmore Trail, to the east by Elbow Drive, to the south by 75 Avenue S and to the west by 14 Street W. The Rockyview General Hospital is located immediately west of the community. Kelvin Grove was established as a neighbourhood in 1957. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Mayfair is a small residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by the community of Bel-Aire, to the east by Elbow Drive, to the south by Glenmore Trail and to the west by the Glenmore Reservoir. The land was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1956, and Mayfair was established one year later, in 1957. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Heritage Station is a CTrain light rail station in Haysboro, Calgary, Alberta as part of the original South Line (Route 201) which opened on May 25, 1981. The station, with a large 557 space park-and-ride lot, is located on the exclusive LRT right of way (adjacent to CPR right-of-way), 7.9 km south of the City Hall Interlocking, west of Macleod Trail. The station consists of a center-loading platform with mezzanine access on the north end and an at-grade access at the south end. As part of Calgary Transit's plans to operate four-car trains by the end of 2014, all three-car stations were extended. Construction at Heritage Station to extend the platform to the South started on July 16, 2012, and the new extended platform and ramp access opened on December 10, 2012. South of the station, in "Haysboro Storage Facility" trains are stored. In 2005, the station registered an average transit of 13,600 boardings per weekday.

It is bounded by Glenmore Trail to the north, Elbow Drive to the east, 14 Street W to the west and Heritage Drive to the south. Chinook Park was established in 1959. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Bel-Aire is a wealthy residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located east of the Glenmore Reservoir and the Elbow River and west of the community of Meadowlark Park and Chinook Center and north of the neighbourhood of Mayfair. The Calgary Country Club golf course makes up its northern boundary. Bel-Aire was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1954 and was established as a neighbourhood in 1960. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Chinook station is a CTrain light rail station in Manchester, Calgary, Alberta. The station opened on May 25, 1981, as part of the original South line on the Red Line. The station is located on the exclusive LRT right of way (adjacent to CPR ROW) at 61 Avenue SW, 5.7 km south of the City Hall Interlocking. It is a three-block walk from the Chinook Centre shopping centre. A 320-space parking facility is also available for park and ride commuters. The station consists of a center-loading platform with ramp access on the North end. Chinook is the only Public Transit Station named after a privately owned and operated business (the shopping mall) as there are no other landmarks or communities in the area with that title when the station opened in Calgary. Years later, Westbrook station opened and naming scheme like this station. As part of Calgary Transit's plan to operate four-car trains starting by the end of 2014, all three-car stations will need to be extended. Chinook Station however was completely rebuilt to a new design very similar to Somerset-Bridlewood, McKnight/Westwinds and Saddletowne Stations. Construction on the new bus terminal started in the summer of 2012. On January 14, 2013, the station and bus terminal closed for redevelopment and has re-opened on September 3, 2013. Bus service to Chinook passed through a temporary terminal at 3 Street SW with a bus shuttle connecting the terminal and the 39th Avenue CTrain station during the station's closure. In 2005, the station registered an average transit of 12,400 boardings per weekday.

Woodman Junior High School is a major junior high school for S.W. Calgary, Alberta, Canada, accepting 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. The school was built in 1959, and the current principal is Marlene Krickhan.

Our Lady of the Rockies High School is operated by the Calgary Catholic School District. It is a composite high school and one of the largest in Calgary, serving just over 1800 students in the communities of south Calgary, Alberta. It is located at 111 Haddon Road SW Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The school was originally named Bishop Grandin High School, after Bishop Vital-Justin Grandin. The Calgary Catholic School District decided to rename the school in June 2021 following the 2021 Canadian Indian residential schools gravesite discoveries, due to the role Bishop Grandin played in the creation of the indigenous residential school system. On 28 June 2021 the school was temporarily renamed Haysboro Catholic High School as new names were being considered.On October 6, 2021 Our Lady of the Rockies High School was the new permanent name chosen to replace Bishop Grandin High School. The program offerings include all of the academic disciplines, an Advanced Placement (A.P.) program, extensive art, drama, choir and music programs including an elite marching band, an Extended French program, an Integrated Occupation program, a Registered Apprentice program, International Languages, an Active Life Skills physical education program, and an extensive Career and Technology Studies program.
