Mayfair is a small residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by the community of Bel-Aire, to the east by Elbow Drive, to the south by Glenmore Trail and to the west by the Glenmore Reservoir. The land was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1956, and Mayfair was established one year later, in 1957. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

The Calgary Jewish Academy (formerly the Calgary Hebrew School, and I.L. Peretz School) is a historic Jewish independent school in Calgary, Alberta.

Henry Wise Wood High School (HWW) is a public high school located in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. The school was built in 1961 and is named after Henry Wise Wood, an Alberta pioneer who was instrumental in forming the Alberta Wheat Pool and the United Farmers of Alberta. Wood is regarded as an influential individual in Canadian agricultural and farming history.Academically, the school offers the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB), and the Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE), in addition to the full range of academic programs standard to the province. The school also offers the Calgary Board of Education's Traditional Learning Centre program. The school is part of the Action for Bright Children Society. A unique option in the IB Programme that the school offers to students as an additional Group 3 subject is Philosophy 20/30 SL IB, which is made available bi-annually. Henry Wise Wood has a music program that includes a symphonic band, jazz band, and choir.

Chinook Park is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by Glenmore Trail to the north, Elbow Drive to the east, 14 Street W to the west and Heritage Drive to the south. Chinook Park was established in 1959. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Bel-Aire is a wealthy residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located east of the Glenmore Reservoir and the Elbow River and west of the community of Meadowlark Park and Chinook Center and north of the neighbourhood of Mayfair. The Calgary Country Club golf course makes up its northern boundary. Bel-Aire was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1954 and was established as a neighbourhood in 1960. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is a large hospital. It is located in the city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on the shores of the Glenmore Reservoir and is administered by Alberta Health Services and formerly by the Calgary Health Region. The hospital contains over 650 beds and provides medical and surgical services to Calgary and Southern Alberta. The RGH is noted for its comprehensive urology department, and is becoming the leader in Canada for urological care. It includes a 24-hour emergency department, an intensive care unit (ICU), as well as day surgery units. It offers a Maternal Newborn Program, mental health and psychiatric services, as well as senior's health and ambulatory care. The Lions Eye Bank, which is a regional centre for recovery of donated eye tissue for corneal transplants, is located at RGH. The building was designed by Culham Pedersen Valentine, and built at a cost of $90 million. It had a total surface of 69,952 m2 (752,960 sq ft), and an additional 23,000 m2 (250,000 sq ft) were added in 1995. Further expansion in 2004 added another 100 beds. The hospital underwent expansion and upgrades, with two operating theatres added to the surgical suite, and vertical expansion of the Highwood Building. The construction included an additional 100 inpatient beds, as well as three stories added to the hospital's North Tower, and five stories to the south side of the hospital. These expansions were completed in 2008.

Kingsland is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded to the north by Glenmore Trail, to the east by Macleod Trail, to the south by Heritage Drive and to the west by Elbow Drive. The area was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1956 and Kingsland was established in 1957. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Eagle Ridge is an affluent residential neighbourhood situated on a peninsula in the Glenmore Reservoir in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The community is known for its unique proximity to green spaces and parks, recreational waterways, and Calgary's multi-use urban pathway system despite its relative proximity to the city's denser downtown core and adjoining communities. In 2014, Eagle Ridge was ranked the 18th wealthiest neighbourhood in Canada and 3rd wealthiest in Calgary. One of Calgary's smallest neighbourhoods by population, Eagle Ridge is physically secluded from other nearby communities due to the Glenmore Reservoir acting as natural boundary to its north, west, and south, while 14 Street W bounds the community to the east. Directly adjacent to Eagle Ridge is the Heritage Park Historical Village, which borders the community to the west on the banks of the reservoir. Other landmarks in the neighbourhood’s vicinity include the Heritage Marina beach, North Glenmore Park, the Glenmore Reservoir, Earl Grey Golf Club, Calgary Golf & Country Club, Glenmore Sailing Club, Calgary Rowing Club, the Elbow River, Weaslehead Flats, Rockyview General Hospital, the Glenmore Landing shopping area, and Chinook Centre. The community is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 Councillor. It is represented in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta by the MLA for Calgary-Glenmore and in the House of Commons of Canada by the Member of Parliament for Calgary Heritage. At the neighbourhood level it is represented by the CKE Community Association (Chinook-Kelvin Grove-Eagle Ridge) and is therefore a member of the only tri-community in Calgary. Eagle Ridge is the westernmost, and, alongside adjacent communities Kelvin Grove, Chinook Park, and Kingsland, northernmost neighbourhood in the greater area/district collectively referred to as “Heritage”, of which a total of 10 communities are included.

Meadowlark Park is a residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located immediately west from the Chinook Centre, east of Elbow Drive and north of the Glenmore Trail. It is named for the Meadowlark bird. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 11 councillor.

Woodman Junior High School is a major junior high school for S.W. Calgary, Alberta, Canada, accepting 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. The school was built in 1959, and the current principal is Marlene Krickhan.

Chinook Centre (formally branded as "CF Chinook Centre") is the largest shopping mall in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is located near the geographic centre of the city on Macleod Trail, north of Glenmore Trail about 5 km (3.1 mi) south of downtown, and three blocks west of the Chinook C-Train station. The mall is operated by Cadillac Fairview. CF Chinook Centre covers (1,377,768 square feet (127,998.8 m2)) of space, and includes three major anchor stores (Hudson's Bay, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue) and 250 stores and restaurants. As the largest shopping destination in Calgary, it offers a range of mid-priced retailers as well as higher-end offerings in a luxury wing anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue. Junior anchors include Sport Chek, H&M, Old Navy, and Chapters. The centre also includes a professional tower, bowling alley, 900-seat Dining Hall, and the 16-screen Scotiabank Theatre Chinook. The focal point of the mall is a four-storey-high rotunda, including a time capsule at the centre's axis, set to be opened on December 31, 2999.

The Little Synagogue on the Prairie is a small, wooden synagogue originally built in Sibbald, Alberta, just west of the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. Originally called the Montefiore Institute, it was built in 1913 or 1916 by the Montefiore colony of Jewish immigrants who had settled in Alberta in 1910, named after Sir Moses Montefiore. It is one of the few surviving examples of the small, wooden synagogues that were built by pioneers on the Canadian and American prairie.In the sanctuary, Torah is read to the congregation from the bimah and the Torah scrolls are stored in the aron kodesh on the east wall. The congregation face towards the east, and Jerusalem, in prayer. The ornamentation features symbols such as Stars of David, and natural forms.The synagogue was moved to Heritage Park Historical Village in Calgary at a cost of over a million dollars in 2008, becoming the first Jewish house of worship to be housed in a Canadian historic park. About 2,000 people attended the dedication of the synagogue in its new location on June 28, 2009.With an area of approximately 74 square meters, the building was constructed on the farm of Joseph, Fanny and Dov Chetner to serve the approximately 30 Jewish families as a community center, school, and house of worship. After the colony was abandoned in the 1920s, the Canadian government sold the building to a family around 1937 for $200. It was moved to the town of Hanna, Alberta and served as a two-bedroom house for the same family for almost 70 years.
