The Club Westside is a private tennis club in Houston, Texas. It was the former home (2001–2007) to the ATP Tour U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships. Its 5,240-seat Gallery Furniture Stadium was the home of the Houston Wranglers of World TeamTennis. The stadium also hosted the Tennis Masters Cup in 2003 and 2004. The club long offered courts of all the Grand Slam surfaces: Rebound Ace (Australian Open), red clay (French Open), grass (Wimbledon), and DecoTurf (US Open). The clay courts were the only courts in the United States that were identical to those at Roland Garros. The grass courts were designed and installed under the supervision of David Kimpton of the Queen's Club. There were 46 courts in total, including 10 indoors. In December 2006, the club management decided to become an all-around sports and family club. It converted its red clay into swimming pools and more hard courts and added a waterpark. The current facilities include 22 outdoor hard courts and four indoor hard courts.

Royal Oaks Country Club is a country club and subdivision in Houston, Texas, United States, in the Alief community. The country club is located at 2910 Royal Oaks Club Drive, 8 miles (13 km) west of The Galleria. Sunrise Colony Company developed Royal Oaks out of the former Andrau Airpark property. The country club portion was the first country club built in the Houston City limits in fifty years.

Alief Early College High School (AECHS) is a magnet high school in Houston, Texas and a part of the Alief Independent School District, in conjunction with Houston Community College. It was scheduled to open in fall 2009, and 120 spaces were to be available for ninth grade students.The permanent campus was scheduled to open around fall 2010, with a temporary facility used for the school's first year.It allows students to take courses for dual credit and graduate with both a high school diploma and the equivalence of an associate degree at the same time. As part of the curriculum each student would take up to sixty credits at HCC during his/her high school career.

The school is one of four high schools in the Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD), the district's westernmost secondary school (serving grades 9 through 12). The Don Coleman Coliseum is an indoor arena operated by the Spring Branch Independent School District and located in Houston, Texas, United States. Completed in 1974 at a cost of $1.3 million, the facility seats 5,000 for events that have included high school sports, a visit by Gerald Ford in 1976, and the 1984 Trans-America Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament. Originally christened the Spring Branch Community Coliseum, it was renamed in 1992 for local basketball coaching icon Don Coleman. He was the coach of nearby Memorial High School boys basketball for 37 years. It has served as the place for graduates in the Spring Branch Independent School District to graduate each year, instead of Reliant Stadium as used by other schools in the Harris County area.

Terry Hershey Park is a county park that runs parallel to a roughly 6-mile (9.7 km) stretch of the Buffalo Bayou in western Houston, Texas. The park is named after Terry Hershey, a conservationist who campaigned to keep the banks of Buffalo Bayou from being paved. The park hosts a network of trails that run along the bayou from State Highway 6 to the Sam Houston Tollway and is a popular destination for local residents, runners, bicyclists and Geocachers.

The building is located at 10900 Richmond Avenue in the Westchase district. The facility serves the U.S. states of Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. In addition, the Houston consulate serves Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The consulate includes an exhibit of Indonesian culture. As of 2004, Houston had the fifth largest Indonesian population in the United States; this helps sustain the consulate.

The Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary is a 17.5-acre (7.1 ha) nature sanctuary along Rummel Creek, located in Houston, Texas, in the United States. Named after Edith Lotz Moore, who lived on the land with her husband for 43 years, the sanctuary includes a restored log cabin for hosting educational programs and houses administrative offices for the Houston Audubon Society. Since 1975, Houston Audubon has preserved Edith Moore's log cabin in addition to developing trails, creating education programs, constructing an office, and performing outreach from the site. The sanctuary also operates a plant nursery that provides wildflowers and grasses for coastal prairie restoration projects or offered for sale to support the Audubon programs. It specializes in local native prairie grasses and wildflowers with a small selection of understory plants. Moore donated land to the Houston Audubon Society in 1975, to be used as a nature preserve for birds. According to the Houston Audubon Society, the sanctuary's mission is to "provide an urban wildlife sanctuary for native plants and animals and to provide education about the natural environment to Houstonians of all ages." Birding programs and day camps held at the sanctuary serve more than ten thousand children and adults every year. This trail is accessible from 7am-7pm Monday- Friday, 9am-5pm Sunday.

Alief ( AY-leef) is a working-class suburb in Southwest Harris County, Texas, United States. Most of Alief is within the city limits of Houston, while a portion of the community is in unincorporated Harris County.First settled in 1894 as a rural farm community, Alief experienced rapid population growth in the 1970s and 1980s. The community became one of the most ethnically diverse areas in Houston.

The Japanese Language Supplementary School of Houston (ヒューストン日本語補習校, Hyūsuton Nihongo Hoshūkō, JLSSH) is a supplementary Japanese school in Houston, Texas. Its classes are held at the Westchester Academy for International Studies. and the school office is located in the Memorial Ashford Place office building. The school, operated by the Japanese Educational Institute (JEI, ヒューストン日本語教育振興会 Hyūsuton Nihongo Kyōiku Shinkō Kai), is for children between ages 5 and 18 who are Japanese speakers.
