Potterton is a village north of Aberdeen, Scotland, in Aberdeenshire, west of Balmedie. Population in 1991 was 1159, falling by 2001 to 886.

Blackdog is a hamlet approximately 2 miles north of the city limits of Aberdeen, Scotland. The nearby area serves as a shooting ground, and is used by the British Army for training.In WW2, the beaches near Blackdog were mined in response to fears of a German invasion, resulting in several fatalities. 10 March 1941 at North Beaches of Blackdog, Sapper Leslie Alfred Whitney - Royal Engineers (age 23) when a "toadstool" he was arming detonated. 17 March 1941 at Millden Links, Corporal Charles Crowe - Gordon Highlanders (age 24) and on 18 March 1941 at Millden Links, Private Colin Innes - Gordon Highlanders (age 22) were all killed by landmines. The minefields were cleared in 1944 by 11th Company Royal Engineers Bomb Disposal, during the clear up a Wasp (converted Bren gun carrier) used for flamethrowing to burn off vegetation was blown up when it hit a mine. One person lost a hand and several were injured. A public house called The Black Dog can be found in the nearby suburb of Bridge of Don, Aberdeen. It is the location of the onshore substation of the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre.An interchange at Blackdog marks the northern end of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, a bypass around Aberdeen. A four-mile (7 km) stretch between Parkhill and Blackdog opened in June 2018.

Whitecairns is a village in the Formartine area of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, lying 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) north of Potterton and 9.7 kilometres (6.0 mi) south of Pitmedden on the B999 road.

Dubford is a housing estate of approximately 550 homes, north of Denmore within the Bridge of Don suburb in the north of Aberdeen, Scotland. Dubford takes its name from the farmstead on which it was built. Aberdeen City Council commissioned an outline plan for its development, published as the Dubford Development Framework, in January 2012. The Aberdeen Local Development Plan 2017 specifies that 550 homes were extant in Dubford by 2016. Scotia Homes advertises the estate as one of its developments.

Murcar Links Golf Club is a golf club in northern Aberdeen, Scotland, to the north of the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club. The 18-hole, par 71, 6,516 yard course was established in 1909. The course was designed by Archie Simpson and later changed by and James Braid.According to Golf Monthly, the club is on the Top 100 Golf Courses UK and Ireland. The Scottish Golf Union cites it as "one of the most celebrated courses in Scotland".

Hermes Junior Football Club are a Scottish football club from Bridge of Don, an area of the city of Aberdeen. Founded in 1968 by pupils of Robert Gordon's College, the club initially played at amateur level before becoming members of the Scottish Junior Football Association in 1993. They currently play in the SJFA North Superleague and their home ground is Lochside Park.The club are so named after a founder member saw an advert in a magazine for a Hermes 2000 typewriter.The club finished as champions in 2011–12 season, winning the SJFA North Region Superleague title for the first time. Hermes set a new SJFA Superleague points record of 73 points during the championship winning season, the previous record being held by Formartine United. Hermes were undefeated at home and only lost one game all season. The top goalscorer for the season was Marek Madle.

Hall Russell United Football Club are a Scottish football club based in Bridge of Don, a suburb of Aberdeen. Members of the Scottish Junior Football Association, they currently play in the SJFA North Superleague. Founded in 1968 as an Amateur club, the club joined the SJFA in 1989. Their home ground is Denmore Park and club colours are navy blue. The club are related to a previous Junior side, Hall Russell's F.C.. This club, existing from 1915 to 1963, were a works team of the Hall Russell shipyard in Aberdeen. They reached the final of the Scottish Junior Cup in 1929–30, losing 3–0 to Newtongrange Star at Tynecastle Park in front of 17,000 spectators.After the 2021–22 North Superleague ended, Hall Russell United went into abeyance.

Scotstown Moor is in the north of Aberdeen, Scotland. Scotstown Moor Local Nature Reserve (LNR) is located four miles to the north of Aberdeen City Centre, near the residential areas of Dubford and Bridge of Don, at grid reference NJ 935116. The reserve covers roughly 34 hectares and is owned by Aberdeen City Council, who established it as a nature reserve in 1994. It contains the only example of species rich lowland heath in Aberdeen City.

The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (also known as the General Electric Exhibition Centre and often shortened to the AECC) was a large exhibition and conference complex, in the suburb of Bridge of Don, in Aberdeen, Scotland. The complex is home to a Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotel, conference facilities and multi-purpose arena which hosted concerts and local sporting events, including the Aberdeen Cup tennis event. The BHGE Arena (formerly the AECC Arena (1985–2002), Press & Journal Arena (2002–2012), and the GE Oil and Gas Arena (2012–2017)) was an indoor arena with a standing capacity of 8,500 and 4,750 seated for concerts and up to 8,000 for other events. The sponsorship lasted until 2019 when the arena was closed and replaced with a new arena at TECA.

Bridge of Don Academy is an Aberdeen City Council operated six-year secondary comprehensive school and community centre in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, Scotland. The building was opened in 1979, originally designed to accommodate around 900 pupils. The school's functional capacity is currently 799. Its feeder primaries are Balmedie, Braehead and Scotstown primary schools. The school campus is currently shared with Braehead Primary School and Saint Columbia's Church of Scotland and Roman Catholic church. Adjacent to the school is Westfield Park and playing fields.
