Dulles Town Center is a two-level enclosed shopping mall in Sterling in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States, located five miles (8.0 km) north of the Washington Dulles International Airport. As of 2022, Dulles Town Center currently features traditional tenants Macy's, JCPenney, and Dick's Sporting Goods. It currently features retailers Banana Republic, American Eagle, Hollister, H&M, and Ann Taylor. It encompasses 1,400,000 square feet (130,000 m2) of GLA and is the sole enclosed shopping center in Loudoun County. The mall serves a wide geographic area, drawing customers from Loudoun, Fairfax, Clarke, and Frederick counties in Virginia, as well as Jefferson County, West Virginia.

The Broad Run Bridge and Tollhouse were built for the Leesburg Turnpike Company in Loudoun County, Virginia. The stone bridge, built about 1820, was a permanent replacement for a series of wood bridges at the location, with at least three that had been washed away between 1771 and 1803. The bridge spanned Broad Run on two arches with prominent conical buttresses. The road rose to the center of the bridge. The stone toll house stands nearby. It is a one-story three-bay house that has been progressively enlarged. The Tollhouse was purchased by the county Board of Supervisors with intentions to restore the facility.One span of the bridge collapsed, on June 21, 1972, as a result of flooding from Hurricane Agnes. The remainder of the bridge has since collapsed, leaving only the stone abutments.The bridge and tollhouse were placed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 17, 1970.

Cascades is a census-designated place (CDP) in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 United States Census was 11,912. Along with nearby Countryside and Lowes Island, it is considered one of the three main components of the Potomac Falls community (ZIP code 20165) within Sterling, Virginia. Cascades is a planned community of 2,500 acres (1,000 ha) with approximately 6,500 homes. The corresponding homeowners association was incorporated on November 8, 1990. As in nearby Sterling Park, prior to the establishment of the Cascades community in 1990 the area was made up of a few very large farms. The homeowners association maintains five community centers, five swimming pools, 15 tennis courts, and other amenities including extensive paved walking trails. The Lowes Island at Cascades community (commonly referred to as Lowes Island) is an advertised portion of the legal subdivision of Cascades, but is not a legal subdivision itself. The Lowes Island community is centered on Trump National Golf Club Washington, D.C., formerly Lowes Island Country Club. The Cascades development is bordered on the north by the Potomack Lake Sportsplex and Algonkian Regional Park (which abuts the Potomac River); both facilities are included in the Cascades census-designated place. The name "Cascades" alludes to the rapidly descending flow along the Potomac River starting at Lowes Island and leading to Great Falls. The commercial core of Cascades is Cascades Marketplace, a 318,000-square-foot (29,500 m2) retail center adjacent to the Cascades Public Library and very near the Loudoun campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Great Falls Plaza is a second, smaller retail center located just outside Lowes Island. Area public schools include Potomac Falls High School, River Bend Middle School, Potowmack Elementary School, Horizon Elementary School, and Lowes Island Elementary School. The Cascades area encompasses the gated campus of the Falcons Landing retirement community for retired U.S. military officers. Cascades is served by Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, the Sterling Volunteer Fire Department, and the Potomac Falls post office.

Vestal's Gap Road and Lanesville Historic District is a national historic district located in Claude Moore Park at Sterling, Loudoun County, Virginia. It encompasses 1 contributing building and 1 contributing structure. They are "Lanesville," a two-story side-gabled frame house on a solid stone-rubble foundation built about 1807, and a section of the former Vestal's Gap Road, an 18th-century road.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area is a Wildlife Management Area in Montgomery County, Maryland. It is a large contiguous forest of varied habitat, situated between the Potomac River and the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal to the south, and Seneca Creek State Park to the east.Acres of sunflowers are planted each year at McKee-Beshers WMA to attract game birds. Every July, these spectacular fields in full bloom also draw photographers, garden enthusiasts, and tourists.In the 1950s this was the site of the Mills Cross Array, an early radio telescope operated by the Carnegie Institution of Washington which was the first instrument to detect radio waves from another planet (Jupiter).
