Roxboro is an inner city residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It is bounded to the north and west by the Elbow River and to the south by 33 Avenue SW of Roxboro, in a bend of the Elbow River, lies the community of Rideau Park. Rideau Park was established in 1911, and Roxboro in 1923. Buildings from that period still stand today. Both were designated as communities of the city in 1967. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 9 councillor.

CJLI (AM 700 The Light) is a Canadian radio station, that broadcasts a christian format at 700 kHz/AM in Calgary, Alberta. The station is licensed to broadcast at 50,000 watts during the day and 20,000 watts at night, with additional restrictions to protect Class A clear-channel stations WLW in Cincinnati, Ohio and KBYR in Anchorage, Alaska. Owned by Touch Canada Broadcasting, the station received CRTC approval on April 24, 2009. The station planned to broadcast from a transmitter site from the Black Diamond area southwest of Calgary, but was unable to secure a site, due to local opposition. In November 2013, the station acquired a site north of Black Diamond, in hopes of broadcasting from there.On June 29, 2015, Touch Canada Broadcasting launched CJLI, branded as AM 700, The Light.

Erlton is an inner city residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by the Elbow River to the north and west, by Spiller Road to the east and by Mission Road to the south. Macleod Trail bisects the neighbourhood from north to south. The neighbourhood is represented by the Erlton Community Association. Erlton was established in 1906. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 8 councillor. The community is served by the Erlton/Stampede station of the C-Train LRT system. The MNP Community & Sport Centre and Lindsay Park border the community to the north, and the Stampede Grounds are located immediately northwest.

Union Cemetery is a 19 ha (47 acre) urban cemetery in Calgary, Alberta, Canada containing about 21,000 graves. It is located in the city's southeast in the predominantly industrial district of Manchester, and is the burial place for many of the city's earliest pioneers and settlers, as well as over 150 Commonwealth burials from the First and Second World Wars. Along with Burnsland Cemetery, St. Mary's Cemetery, Chevra Kadisha (Jewish) Cemetery, and the Chinese Cemetery, Union Cemetery is recognized by Heritage Calgary as a culturally significant historical landscape, and every summer the city offers guided walking tours through the cemetery district.

Burnsland Cemetery is a 13 ha (32 acres) urban cemetery in Calgary, Alberta, Canada containing about 22,000 graves. It is located in the city's southeast in the predominantly industrial district of Manchester, and is the burial place for many of Calgary's First World War veterans.The cemetery is named after Patrick Burns, one of the Big Four founders of the Calgary Stampede. Burns was a local rancher and meat packer who donated the land to the city in 1922. Along with St. Mary's Cemetery, Union Cemetery, Chevra Kadisha (Jewish) Cemetery, and the Chinese Cemetery, Burnsland Cemetery is recognized by Heritage Calgary as a culturally significant historical landscape, and every summer the city offers guided walking tours through the cemetery district.

The Mission district is an inner city neighbourhood of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, that originated as Notre Dame de la Paix, a Catholic mission, and was for a time the incorporated Village of Rouleauville. Mission is bordered by 4th Street SW with restaurants and shops, and it hosts the Lilac Festival in June. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 8 councillor. The community has an area redevelopment plan in place.

South Calgary was a provincial electoral district in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting from 1913 to 1921.

Manchester is a residential neighborhood of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It straddles both the southeast and southwest quadrants of Calgary and neighbors the industrial community of Manchester Industrial to the east, south and north. Manchester is in Ward 9. The community is among one of Calgary's oldest, but has been one of the most affected by urban decay. Manchester is not to be confused with Manchester Industrial, an industrial and commercial community that surrounds Manchester. Manchester consists of mostly low-income housing and housing projects, with a significant portion of such being built in 2003 in the southern portion of the community. Manchester has the lowest income and highest percentage of residents classified as low-income of any Calgary community by a decent margin. Manchester additionally struggles with crime, urban blight, homelessness, and poverty.

Calgary-Elbow is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Canada. Its most recent MLA was Doug Schweitzer, who won the seat in the 2019 provincial election. Schweitzer stepped down on August 31, 2022 and the electoral district (often commonly referred to as “riding”) is currently unrepresented. The riding was created in 1971 from the southeast part of Calgary-Glenmore and the southwest Part of the old Calgary South riding. Includes the communities of: Altadore, Bel-Aire, Britannia, Elbow Park, Elboya, Erlton, Garrison Woods, Glamorgan, Lincoln Park, Mount Royal, Marda Loop, Mayfair, Meadowlark Park, North Glenmore, Parkhill, Rideau Park, Roxboro, South Calgary and Windsor Park.

Cliff Bungalow is an inner city residential neighbourhood in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. Centered along 5 Street SW, it is bordered by Elbow River to the south, by Uptown 17th Avenue to the north and by Fourth Street to the east. Cliff Bungalow was developed on land owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway in the 1870s. It was mainly populated by CPR employees, due to the convenient distance from the district to CPR headquarters and railyards. The area was gradually annexed to the City of Calgary between 1906 and 1912. Cliff Bungalow was established in 1907 although the name "Cliff Bungalow" would not be applied until the 1970s. It was re-zoned in 1935 to allow for denser residential buildings. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 8 councillor. The community has an area redevelopment plan in place.

St. Mary's Parish Hall is a historic sandstone building in the Mission District of Calgary. It was built in 1905 to be used as a Roman Catholic parish hall, but starting in 1913 was adaptively reused as a railway station by the Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR), during which time it was known as Calgary Southwest Railway Station. It was then operated as a railway station by the CNoR's successor, the Canadian National Railway (CN) until 1971. In 1981 the building was named a Provincial Historic Resource of Alberta. In 1985 a fire gutted most of the interior and it was restored in 1987.
