Bethlehem Village, Connecticut

Bethlehem is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 3,385 at the 2020 census, down from 3,607 at the 2010 census. The town is part of the Naugatuck Valley Planning Region. The town center is a historic district and a census-designated place (CDP). The town's name has prompted thousands of visitors each December to mail their Christmas cards at the renowned local post office, situated at 34 East Street, in order to get a "Bethlehem" postmark. The post office also has nearly 100 Christmas-related stamps for customers to decorate their envelopes during the holiday season.Bethlehem is one of the two towns in Litchfield County served by the area code 203/area code 475 overlay. The other is the town of Woodbury.

Christ Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church located on the town green of Bethlehem, Connecticut. Founded as a parish early in the 19th century, it has been a central part of the life of the town ever since. The building is an outstanding example of Gothic Revival architecture, and its unique metal roof helps incorporate it visually with other historic buildings in the area around the green. Major renovations were designed by R. W. Hill, a noted Waterbury architect, early in his career. It also houses a Jardine tracker organ designed in 1855. Along with the First Congregational Church across the street and the Bellamy-Ferriday House on another side of the town green, Christ Episcopal Church helps anchor the historic center of this small rural town in Litchfield County, Connecticut.

The Bethlehem Green Historic District is a historic district in the center of the town of Bethlehem, Connecticut, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 for the architectural significance of the houses around the town green. The historic district includes the green and 63 contributing properties over an area of 55 acres (22 ha).The Bethlehem Green is a triangular park bounded on the east by Route 61 (Main Street), on the north by Route 132 (West Road), and on the west by the street called "The Green". Within the green are five tablet monuments and a large green boulder monument listing names of Bethlehem residents who served in various wars from the American Revolution to World War II. A flagpole lies opposite the monuments. Maple trees have been planted around the perimeter of the green, and a large evergreen tree (decorated as a Christmas tree in winter) is located in the center of the green.Historic buildings around the green include the Congregational church (1790), the townhouse (1839), the Episcopal Church (1832), two 18th-century taverns now used as residences, a general store built on the site of a former store built in the 19th century, and a former school building.The district is also the site of the Bellamy-Ferriday House and Garden (Joseph Bellamy House), which is listed separately on the National Register of Historic Places, and of the original meetinghouse of Bethlehem built in 1767. The original meetinghouse no longer stands but its site is marked by a granite obelisk.

The Bellamy-Ferriday House and Garden (also known as the Joseph Bellamy House) is a historic house museum at 9 Main Street North in Bethlehem, Connecticut. The main house was built between about 1754 and 1767 by the Rev. Joseph Bellamy, a prominent Congregationalist minister who played an influential role in the First Great Awakening. The property, the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The house and surrounding gardens are owned and operated by Connecticut Landmarks; admission is charged. Another 81 acres of forest and fields adjacent to the museum property are maintained as Bellamy Preserve, the town of Bethlehem's "Central Park," by the Bethlehem Land Trust.

The Woodhall School, located in Bethlehem, Connecticut, United States, is a small, independent boys' boarding school for students in grades 9-12. The school's individualized approach to teaching is intended for the unconventional learner, and utilizes multi-modal strategies to support learning. It was founded in 1983 by Sally Campbell Woodhall and Jonathan A. Woodhall, former Headmaster at the Oxford Academy. Sally Campbell Woodhall served in this role from 1983 to 2007; Matthew C. Woodhall became the second Head of School in 2008.

The Caleb Martin House is a historic house at 42 Mill Pond Road in Bethlehem, Connecticut. With its oldest portion dating to 1730, it is one of the community's oldest buildings, exhibiting a wealth of construction detail through its 18th-century transformation from a small single-pile house to a full saltbox. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

The Benedictine Abbey of Regina Laudis was founded in 1947 by Mother Benedict Duss, O.S.B. and Mother Mary Aline Trilles de Warren, O.S.B. in Bethlehem, Connecticut. This monastic foundation was one of the first houses of contemplative Benedictine nuns in the United States. Mother Benedict and Mother Mary were both nuns of the Benedictine Abbey of Notre Dame de Jouarre in France. Mother Benedict had grown up in Paris and studied medicine at the Sorbonne. Until the monastery of Regina Laudis gained abbatial status, it was a dependent priory of Jouarre Abbey, a 7th-century monastery northeast of Paris, France. The abbey is home to an "exquisite museum quality, 18th century Neapolitan Crèche," according to the website of the Town of Bethlehem.

Camp Columbia State Park/State Forest is a public recreation area and state forest located in the town of Morris in Litchfield County, Connecticut. The 600-acre (240 ha) site was once the rural campus of Columbia University's Engineering Department. The majority of the property has been designated as a state forest; the acreage designated as a state historic park includes the frontage on Bantam Lake and the site of the former university buildings. It is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The Town Hall and District School No. 6 are a pair of historic government buildings at 12 South Street in Morris, Connecticut. The school, built about 1772, and the town hall, built 1861, are well-preserved examples of vernacular civic architecture. They presently house the local historical society museum, and were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Skilton Road Bridge is a historic stone arch bridge, carrying Skilton Road across the Nonewaug River in northwestern Watertown, Connecticut. The bridge was built in 1865–66, and is a rare well-preserved example of a mid-19th century stone bridge. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Woodbury Ski Area was a ski area located in Woodbury, Connecticut. This small ski area was in northwestern Connecticut, about 2 hours from New York City. The skiing and snow tubing operations were serviced by a chairlift and multiple surface lifts. Local residents referred to it as "Rod's" after its owner, Olympic skier Rod Taylor.Taylor opened the resort in 1972. Taylor took pride in Woodbury being the first ski area in Connecticut to open each season.The ski area closed in 2016 following a drought and has not reopened. It has since been bought, however, its future is uncertain. The ski area may reopen in the coming years, as work has begun to get the park operational again.
