Llanrhystud

Cofiwch Dryweryn (Welsh for 'Remember Tryweryn') is a graffitied stone wall near Llanrhystud, Ceredigion, Wales. Author and journalist Meic Stephens originally painted the words onto the wall of a ruined cottage in the early 1960s after Liverpool City Council decided to start the Tryweryn flooding, including the community of Capel Celyn, to create the Llyn Celyn reservoir. Due to its prominent location, stark message, and history of repeated vandalism, the wall has become an unofficial landmark of mid Wales. The phrase "Cofiwch Dryweryn" has itself become a prominent political slogan for Welsh nationalism, appearing on T-shirts and banners, and as replica murals.

Afon Wyre (Welsh pronunciation: [ˈʊɨ̯rɛ] ), (English: River Wyre), is a small river in the county of Ceredigion, Wales; also called Afon Wyre Fawr ("Great Wyre") and formerly Gwyrai.The river runs north from its source for about 1.5 miles or 2.5 km, through Lledrod, and then turns west for the bulk of its course (about 8 miles or 13 km), passing through Llangwyryfon and Llanrhystud (where it is joined by the Wyre Fach (Little Wyre) and Carrog) before emptying into Cardigan Bay.

Gaer Penrhôs, in Ceredigion, Wales, was a ringwork castle at the summit of a steep hill near the village of Llanrhystud; now all that remains are the outlines of its ringworks. Through the years it has variously been referred to as Llanrhystud Castle and Castell Cadwaladr and has likely been the site of more than one structure. Gaer Penrhôs commands a view into the mountains of the Ystwyth Valley and over Cardigan Bay. The ringwork consists of a small courtyard enclosed by a large rampart and outer ditch, however it lines up with the remains of what appears to have been a much larger enclosure that could have formed the basis of a much older Roman-era hillfort (which is usually referred to as Caer Penrhos in modern sources). According to the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, a ring motte was first erected by Richard de la Mare in around 1110; just six years later it was captured by Gruffydd ap Rhys, and destroyed by Cadwaladr ap Gruffydd in 1136, who built a new castle on basically the same site in 1149. In 1150, a dispute between Cadwaladr's brother Owain Gwynedd and his nephew Hywel ab Owain Gwynedd, Owain's son, erupted and Hywel seized Gaer Penrhôs for himself. Hywel was only able to retain control of the castle for a year, losing it to Rhys ap Gruffydd and his brothers. The castle hadn't seen the last of Hywel, however; he returned some months later, where he slaughtered the castle's garrison and destroyed its timber defenses. In 1158 what appears to be a new structure was captured by Normans, but that was likely burned to the ground again when Rhys returned later to scourge every English-controlled castle in Ceredigion.

The Dylan Thomas Trail (Welsh: Llwybr Dylan Thomas) runs through places associated with the poet Dylan Thomas in Ceredigion, west Wales. It was officially opened by Aeronwy Thomas, Dylan's daughter, in July 2003. It also featured in the celebration in 2014 of the centenary of Dylan's birth.The Trail is marked by blue plaques and information boards in Lampeter, Aberaeron and New Quay. There is also a detailed guide available, The Dylan Thomas Trail, which helps visitors walk the route but also describes the poet's time in the area.

Llanon (Welsh pronunciation: [ɬanˈɔn]; also spelled Llan-non) is a village in Ceredigion, Wales. It adjoins the village of Llansantffraed on the coast of Cardigan Bay, 5 mi (8.0 km) north of Aberaeron and 11 miles (18 km) south of Aberystwyth on the A487 road. It is situated on a raised beach. The village is named after the church of Saint Non (Llan-Non), the mother of Saint David. By tradition, St David was born and brought up in Llanon.

Llansantffraid or Llansantffraed (Welsh: Llansanffraid) is a small rural village and community and practically merged with the village of Llanon just west of the main A487 coastal road between Aberaeron and Aberystwyth, about 11 mi (18 km) from Aberystwyth. The population in 2001 was 1,241, declining to 1,212 at the 2011 census.The parish church of St Ffraed dates from the 15th century and is a Grade II* listed building.

In 2011 the population of Dyffryn Arth was 1174 with 49.7% of them able to speak Welsh. It includes the villages of Aberarth, Pennant, Moelfryn and Cross Inn.
