Columbus Park (Chicago)

Central is an abandoned rapid transit station in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The station served the Chicago Transit Authority's Congress Line, which is now part of the Blue Line. Central opened on October 10, 1960, and closed on September 2, 1973, as part of a group of budget-related CTA station closings.

Austin is a station on the 'L' system, serving the Blue Line's Forest Park branch. It is located at Austin Boulevard alongside the Eisenhower Expressway in Oak Park, Illinois. The station has an auxiliary entrance/exit at Lombard Avenue. After CTA Blue Line trains pass the station, the CTA line splits away from the Baltimore and Ohio Chicago Terminal Railroad lines letting the CTA Blue Line continue into Chicago afterwards.

The J. J. Walser Jr. residence in the Chicago, United States, neighborhood of Austin was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for real estate developer Joseph Jacob Walser Jr. The cruciform two-story house is typical of Wright's Prairie School period.

The Oak Park Village Hall at 123 Madison Street is the center of village government in Oak Park, Illinois. The village hall was built in 1975 as part of a series of public infrastructure improvements intended to prevent white flight from the village. In the late 1960s, as more black residents moved to the east side of Oak Park, preexisting white residents began deinvesting in the neighborhood and moving away. The village responded by investing heavily in the east side and adopting housing policies which discouraged blockbusting and resegregation, ultimately causing the village to become diverse and integrated. The new village hall was a key piece of this plan, as it brought a landmark building to a vulnerable section of the east side. Harry Weese, a nationally prominent Chicago architect, designed the Modernist building. The building's design includes a brick exterior with a ribbon window along the roof line, an enclosed central courtyard, and a triangular council chamber section with a long front ramp threaded through several brick pylons.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 25, 2014.

The Third Unitarian Church (TUC) is a Unitarian Universalist church in the West Side of Chicago, Illinois. It was founded in November 1868. Because of its pioneering architecture for its day, it has become much of a landmark in Chicago, and is now an official landmark. The church is liberal and describes itself as "a progressive, welcoming, and diverse congregation".

The Austin Historic District is a residential historic district in central Austin, Chicago, Illinois. The district, which includes 336 buildings, has a large number of Victorian homes, with many examples of the Queen Anne, Stick, and Shingle styles. Henry Austin, for whom Austin is named, began development in the district in the late 1860s. While the Panic of 1873 halted the area's early development, a construction boom in the 1880s spurred its growth; most of the homes in the district were built in the 1880s and 1890s. By the time Chicago annexed it in 1899, Austin had become one of the city's more significant middle-class suburbs. Future development in the neighborhood, including the construction of multi-family housing, changed its character, leaving the district to represent Austin's original plans.

Austin College and Career Academy High School (formerly known as Austin Polytech High School, commonly known as Austin High School) is a public four-year high school located in the Austin neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Operated by the Chicago Public Schools, Austin opened in 1876 and was named in honor of Henry W. Austin, a Chicago real estate developer. Austin shared its campus with two smaller schools; Austin Business & Entrepreneurship Academy High and V.O.I.S.E. Academy High School. After the 2015–2016 school year, the small schools converted into one school and was renamed Austin College and Career Academy High School.

Austin is a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's 'L' system. It is located between the Ridgeland and Central stations on the Green Line, which runs from Harlem/Lake and to Ashland/63rd and Cottage Grove. The station is located at the intersection of Austin Boulevard and Corcoran Place in the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side and borders the village of Oak Park. Austin opened on April 15, 1899, as part of a surface level extension of the Lake Street Elevated Railroad, along with Central. It was rebuilt in the early 1960s as part of a project which moved the western end of the Lake Street line off of its street level alignment and onto an abandoned strip of the parallel Chicago and Northwestern Railway's embankment. The station at Austin consists of a single island platform; a stairway and escalator connect the platform to a station building. Trains serve Austin from 3:50 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on weekdays, from 4:55 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Saturdays, from 4:55 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Sundays. In addition to trains, Austin also serves CTA and Pace buses.

Midway Park is a sub-neighborhood of Austin in Chicago, Illinois. This Chicago landmark district lies both north and south of Lake Avenue. The northerly section is bounded by West Lake Street (400 N), West Ohio Street (600 N), North Waller Avenue (5700 W) and North Austin Street (6000 W). The southerly portion runs north from West End Avenue (200 N) to Corcoran Place (350 N) and west from Parkside Avenue (5650 W) to Menard Avenue (5800 W). Despite the massive scale change, the nineteenth-century village residential core is still visible in the Midway Park area north of Central and Lake, a designated National Register historic district (1985). This neighborhood boasts stately neoclassical and Queen Anne–style homes, many designed by architect Frederick Schock, as well as several structures by Frank Lloyd Wright and his students.

First Congregational Church of Austin, also known as Greater Holy Temple of God in Christ, is a historic church at 5701 West Midway Place in Chicago, Illinois. The church was built in 1905 for a Congregational assembly; it was later used by Seventh-Day Adventist, Roman Catholic, and Church of God in Christ congregations. A Chicago building permit was issued on August 15, 1905 according to the Chicago Tribune of August 16, 1905. Architect William Eugene Drummond, a student of Louis Sullivan and a sometime employee of Frank Lloyd Wright, designed the church in the Prairie School style; it is an unusual example of a Prairie School church and influenced Wright's Unity Temple which was designed after the original church burned on June 4, 1905. The one-story building consists of a tall central section with massive piers and a smaller section to either side. The entrance is recessed in the base of the central section; the doorway features lintels and posts that continue the building's rectilinear emphasis. Leaded glass windows are recessed in the spaces between the central section's piers.The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 17, 1977.
