Love Field, Dallas

Burbank station is a DART light rail station located near Dallas Love Field airport for service on the Green Line and Orange Line. The station opened as part of the Green Line's expansion in December 2010, and serves the headquarters for Southwest Airlines and an adjacent residential neighborhood. This station was originally proposed to serve the airport terminal directly with an underground station (much like Cityplace/Uptown station), but a 2004 study showed that costs would be well beyond acceptable levels and jeopardize a federal grant. The City of Dallas officials and transit agency agreed to a nearby surface-level station on March 12, 2007. Because of this, the station was originally known as Love Field station during construction. In 2010 Inwood/Love Field station was designated for bus service to the airport. Signage at the station still purports a future connection to Love Field.

The Center for BrainHealth, part of The University of Texas at Dallas' school of Behavioral and Brain Sciences, is a research institute focused exclusively on brain health that combines brain research with clinical interventions. Founded by Dr. Sandra Bond Chapman in 1999, the Center for BrainHealth houses 125 researchers, postdoctoral research fellows, doctoral students, master's students, and research clinicians who work on 60 privately and federally funded research projects. The Center provides academic training and houses specialists in, among many others, Alzheimer's disease, traumatic brain injury (TBI), healthy brain aging, multiple sclerosis, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), stroke, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). To help raise awareness of and funding for research underway at the Center for BrainHealth, a number of proponent groups have formed. These include the Think Ahead Group (TAG) of young professionals and Friends of BrainHealth.

Braniff Jetrail Fastpark System was a suspended monorail system that operated at Dallas Love Field in Dallas, Texas, United States, from April 18, 1970, until January 13, 1974. It was built by Stanray Corporation, Chicago, Illinois, for and operated by Braniff International Airways to transport passengers and their luggage from remote parking lots to the airport terminal. Jetrail was the world's first fully automated monorail transit system. The system, however, continued in operation when Braniff moved the majority of its operations to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on January 13, 1974. Braniff continued to operate intrastate service from Love Field to both Houston Hobby and San Antonio International Airports, to compete with Southwest Airlines, until September 1, 1974. At that time, all Jetrail operations ceased.

Dallas Love Field (IATA: DAL, ICAO: KDAL, FAA LID: DAL) is a city-owned public airport 6 miles (9.7 km) northwest of downtown Dallas, Texas. It was Dallas' main airport until 1974 when Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) opened. Love Field covers an area of 1,300 acres (530 ha) at an elevation of 487 feet (148 m) above mean sea level and has two runways.Love Field is the birthplace, corporate headquarters, and a major operating base of Southwest Airlines; as of August 2021, Southwest has a 95% market share at the airport. Several full-service fixed-base operators (FBOs) provide general aviation services: fuel, maintenance, hangar rentals, and air charters. The City of Dallas Department of Aviation headquarters is on the grounds of the airport.

American Airlines Flight 910, a four-engine Douglas DC-6 propliner, collided in mid-air with a single engine Temco Swift on final approach to Dallas Love Field on June 28, 1952, over Dallas, Texas. The DC-6 was carrying 55 passengers and 5 crew members from San Francisco, California. The DC-6 landed with no injuries to any of its 60 occupants, while both occupants of the two-person Swift died when their aircraft impacted the ground.

American Airlines Flight 157, a Douglas DC-6, departed on November 29, 1949, from New York City bound for Mexico City with 46 passengers and crew. After one engine failed in mid-flight, a series of critical mistakes by the flight crew caused the pilot to lose control of the plane during the final approach to a routine stopover at Love Field in Dallas, Texas. The airliner slid off the runway and struck a parked airplane, a hangar, and a flight school before crashing into a business across from the airport. 26 passengers and two flight attendants died. The pilot, co-pilot, flight engineer, and 15 passengers survived.

Alcuin School is an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational day school in Dallas, Texas. Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Dallas (TTUHSC Dallas) is a branch campus of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) located in Dallas, Texas. The TTUHSC School of Pharmacy and the School of Nursing are the only academic units to offer classes at the campus. TTUHSC Dallas is located adjacent to the Southwestern Medical District in Dallas, that includes institutions such as Children's Medical Center Dallas, Parkland Memorial Hospital, and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

The Consulate-General of Mexico in Dallas (Spanish: Consulado-General de México en Dallas) is a diplomatic mission of Mexico in Dallas, Texas, United States. Alfredo Corchado of The Dallas Morning News said that as of 2009, in terms of activity and size of the area Mexican population, the Dallas consulate is considered to be the third most important Mexican consulate after Los Angeles and Chicago.The consulate moved from 8855 North Stemmons Freeway to 1210 River Bend Drive in January 2009.On Wednesday May 6, 2009, lawyers filed a class action lawsuit in the Dallas County District Court; in it four Dallas County residents said that "corruption and greed" were in the consulate. In August 2009 the Mexican government announced that it would remove Enrique Hubbard Urrea, the consul general, from his post due to allegations of corruption. Hubbard was very popular with area immigrants.

On September 24, 2025, a shooter identified as Joshua Jahn shot three people detained by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at an immigration facility near Interstate 35E in the Love Field area of Dallas, Texas, before shooting and killing himself. The shooter fired multiple rounds from a nearby rooftop down into the field office's sally port. One of the victims was killed on scene, while the other two were taken to nearby hospitals in critical condition. One of the two injured victims later died from his injuries six days later. All three were shot in a van in the sally port. No officers or staff were injured. Jahn, who had no known political affiliations or overt anti-ICE activity online, had a prior drug-related arrest and some experience with firearms. Authorities found unfired ammunition, one round marked "ANTI-ICE", at the scene and anti-ICE notes in his personal effects, leading investigators to conclude that the attack was a premeditated terrorist act, but that he acted alone and was targeting ICE agents rather than detainees. Details of the attack and Jahn's background remain under investigation.

The Frontiers of Flight Museum is an aerospace museum located in Dallas, Texas, founded in November 1988 by William E. Cooper, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and Jan Collmer. Originally located within a terminal at Dallas Love Field, the museum now occupies a 100,000-square-foot (9,300 m2) building at the southeast corner of Love Field on Lemmon Avenue. The museum is an affiliate within the Smithsonian Affiliations program.Aviation historian George E. Haddaway promoted the founding of the museum subsequent to donation of his extensive personal collection of aviation history books, journals, photographs, as well as archives to the University of Texas at Dallas as the nucleus of one of the world's finest aviation collections, the History of Aviation Collection.The museum features an extensive collection of aviation history artifacts and vehicles, and focuses on the history of aviation and space exploration with an emphasis on the role of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Exhibits include the Apollo 7 Command Module; a World War I Sopwith Pup biplane replica; artifacts from the German airship Hindenburg and other airships; and over 200 World War II aircraft models.

Bachman Lake is a small freshwater lake located in the Bachman Lake community of northwest Dallas, Texas (USA). It covers 205 acres (0.83 km2) and lies on the northwest boundary of Dallas Love Field in the airport's landing path and the western boundary of the upscale Bluffview neighborhood. At the Western end of the lake, DART provides transit service at Bachman Station, including light rail service via the Green Line and Orange Line.
