Punta Santa Teresa Lighthouse (Italian: Faro di Punta Santa Teresa) is an active lighthouse located at the east side, opposite to the outer breakwater of the gulf of La Spezia, in the municipality of Lerici, Liguria on the Ligurian Sea.

San Terenzo is a village (frazione) in the comune of Lerici in the province of La Spezia.

The Gulf of La Spezia (Italian: Golfo della Spezia; Ligurian: Gorfo da Spezza), nicknamed the Gulf of Poets (Italian: Golfo dei Poeti; Ligurian: Gorfo di Poêti), is a body of water on the north-western coast of Italy and part of the northern Tyrrhenian Sea, specifically of Ligurian Sea. It measures some 4.5 (length) by 3-3.5 (width) kilometers. The gulf is named for the Italian city of La Spezia, located at its middle point, which is also the main military and cargo port in the gulf, including several arsenals of the Italian Marina Militare. At the gulf extremities are the two tourist resorts of Lerici (eastern) and Porto Venere (western). Islands in the gulf include Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto. The British poet and dramatist Percy Bysshe Shelley drowned in the Gulf in 1822 when the sailing boat he was on, the Don Juan, sank due to a severe storm. A copy of poems by fellow British Romantic writer John Keats was found in his pocket when his body was recovered from the Gulf.

The Montemarcello Formation is a Late Triassic (Carnian) geologic formation in Liguria, Italy. Fossil prosauropod tracks have been reported from the formation.

Lerici (Ligurian: Lerxi, locally Lerze) is a town and comune in the province of La Spezia in Liguria (northern Italy), part of the Italian Riviera. It is situated on the coast of the Gulf of La Spezia, 8 kilometres (5 mi) southeast of La Spezia. It is known as the place where the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley drowned. The town is connected by ferry to the Cinque Terre and Portovenere. One of the main sights of Lerici is its castle which since its first founding in 1152 was used to help control the entrance of the Gulf of La Spezia. Today the castle contains a museum of palaeontology.

COMSUBIN (Comando Raggruppamento Subacquei e Incursori "Teseo Tesei"; Divers and Raiders Group Command "Teseo Tesei") is the Italian Navy's special operations unit. Italy was the first nation to use frogmen and human torpedoes. The Royal Italian Navy's Naval Assault Divisions are considered to be the precursor of modern Naval Special Forces. Their record can be traced back to World War I and the operation against the Austrian-Hungarian Battleship Viribus Unitis in Pula Harbour in 1918. In World War II, famous operations include Suda Bay, Alexandria, Gibraltar, and Malta. Italy's frogman group originated in 1938 as the 1a Flottiglia Mezzi d'Assalto (1st Flotilla Assault Vehicles), which was reformed in 1940 as the Decima Flottiglia MAS (10th Flotilla Assault Vehicles, X MAS).

Arcola (Ligurian: Arcoa) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of La Spezia in the Italian region Liguria, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) southeast of Genoa and about 7 kilometres (4 mi) northeast of La Spezia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 10,145 and an area of 16.4 square kilometres (6.3 sq mi).The municipality of Arcola contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Baccano, Termo, Fresonara, Monti, Romito Magra, Cerri, and Trebiano. Arcola borders the following municipalities: La Spezia, Lerici, Sarzana, Vezzano Ligure.

Scoglio Torre della Scuola Lighthouse (Italian: Torre della Scuola) is an active lighthouse located 243 metres (797 ft) from the north-eastern tip of Palmaria in the Gulf of La Spezia.

Port of La Spezia (Italian: Porto della Spezia) is a port in La Spezia, Liguria, Italy. The port of La Spezia is one of the largest commercial ports in the Ligurian Sea, and is located in the northernmost part of the Gulf of La Spezia. Its development dates from the late nineteenth century and has since grown to become one of the main ports of the Mediterranean Sea, specializing in container handling in particular. Inside a bay of 1500 hectares protected by a breakwater of about 2.2 kilometres (1.4 mi), the port of La Spezia has 5.1 kilometres (3.2 mi) of quays and at least 400,000 square kilometres (150,000 sq mi) of space. In 2014, 15,700,000 tonnes and 483,564 passengers passed through the port. According to the 2017 official data, the port of La Spezia was the second Italian node in terms of TEUs movement, preceded by the Port of Genoa with an annual movement of 2.6 millions in respect of a national traffic of around 10.5 millions TEUs.

Varignano Roman Villa is an ancient Roman residence in Varignano, now a frazione of the town of Porto Venere in the province of La Spezia in Italy. Its site is marked by an archaeological museum.

Palmaria is an Italian island situated in the Ligurian Sea, at the westernmost end of the Gulf of La Spezia. With an area of 1.6 square kilometres (0.6 sq mi), it is the largest island of an archipelago of three closely spaced islands jutting from the mainland at Portovenere. The outer islands, Tino and the tiny Tinetto, lie further south. In 1997, the archipelago was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site that also includes Portovenere and the Cinque Terre.
