Luis Ruiz Suárez S.J. (September 21, 1913 – July 26, 2011) was a Spanish-born Jesuit priest and missionary to China. Father Ruiz founded Casa Ricci Social Services, and later the Caritas Macau charity. His work in the 1950s focused mainly on refugees from mainland China. As Casa Ricci's works developed, it spawned Caritas Macau and Ruiz turned the focus of Casa Ricci to work with lepers and their families, and still later to those suffering from HIV/AIDS. He came to be known by several nicknames – "Luk Ngai" (in Cantonese), "Father of the Poor", and "Angel of Macau."

Caritas Macau is the charity outreach of the Diocese of Macau, Macau, China. It began in 1951 as an outgrowth of the charitable works of Luis Ruiz Suarez SJ, and his Casa Ricci Social Services.

The Dom Pedro V Theatre (Chinese: 伯多祿五世劇; Portuguese: Teatro Dom Pedro V) is a historical theatre situated at Largo de Santo Agostinho in São Lourenço, Macau, China. It is one of the first western-style theatres in East Asia. The theater is an important landmark in the region and remains a venue for important public events and celebrations today.

The Historic Centre of Macao (Portuguese: Centro Histórico de Macau, Chinese: 澳門歷史城區) is a collection of over twenty locations that witness the unique assimilation and co-existence of Chinese and Portuguese cultures in Macau, a former Portuguese colony. It represents the architectural legacies of the city's cultural heritage, including monuments such as urban squares, streetscapes, churches and temples. In 2005 the Historic Centre of Macau was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, making it the 31st designated World Heritage Site in China. It was described by UNESCO as: "with its historic street, residential, religious and public Portuguese and Chinese buildings, the historic centre of Macao provides a unique testimony to the meeting of aesthetic, cultural, architectural and technological influences from East and West," and "...it bears witness to one of the earliest and longest-lasting encounters between China and the West, based on the vibrancy of international trade."

Municipal Council of Macau (Portuguese: Leal Senado, lit. Loyal Senate), was the local government structure in Macau (similar to city councils) during Portuguese colonial rule. The title Leal Senado was bestowed on Macau's government in 1810 by Portugal's prince regent João, who later became King John VI of Portugal. This was a reward for Macau's loyalty to Portugal during the Philippine Dynasty, between 1580 and 1640. Following the handover in 1999, the Council was replaced by a Provisional Municipal Council and finally replaced by the Municipal Affairs Bureau. Like its Municipal Council predecessors, the Institute meets at the Leal Senado Building.

The Leal Senado Building (Portuguese for Loyal Senate) was the seat of Portuguese Macau's government (Legislative Assembly of Macau and Municipal Council of Macau). It is located at one end of the Senado Square in São Lourenço, Macau, China. It currently houses Macau's Municipal Affairs Bureau.

The Municipality of Macau (Portuguese: Concelho de Macau) was one of two municipalities of Macau, along with the Municipality of Ilhas.

Sam Kai Vui Kun, known also as Kuan Tai Temple, (Chinese: 三街會館) is located in front of St. Dominic’s Market Complex, near Senado Square in Sé, Macau, China. The temple was built in 1750.Kuan Tai (Chinese: 關帝) is the Anglicized spelling of Lord Guan, an important general during the Three Kingdoms period in China, being now honored and worshiped in Taoism, Confucianism and Chinese Buddhism.

The Senado Square, or Senate Square (Chinese: 議事亭前地; Cantonese Yale: Yíh Sih Tìhng Chìhn Deih; Portuguese: Largo do Senado), is a paved town square in Sé, Macau, China, and part of the UNESCO Historic Centre of Macau World Heritage Site. It is an elongated triangular shaped square and connects Largo do São Domingos at one end and Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro on the other. It covers an area of 3,700 square meters (4,425 square yards)

Hotel Central (Chinese: 新中央酒店) is an 11-storey hotel on Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro in Sé, Macau. Historically it has also been known as President Hotel (Chinese: 總統酒店). The building was 6 storeys tall in 1928 but, after 5 more floors were added in 1942, became the tallest building in Macau. There were formerly casinos on the fifth and seventh floors of the building. It is also the first building in Macau with elevators.

The Former Court Building, or Old Court Building, is a former courthouse located at 459 Avenida da Praia Grande in Macau. Built in 1951, the building was used as offices for the Portuguese colonial government, including the Judiciary Police headquarters, and then as a courthouse. It has been designated as a structure of importance. Plans to convert the building for use as the new Macao Central Library were axed in 2020. Instead, the building is now planned to house the Court of Final Appeal.
