East Cowick

West Cowick is a village in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, situated approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) south-east of Snaith. It is just to the south of the A1041 road and north of the M62 motorway. It was historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. It forms part of the civil parish of Snaith and Cowick. To the east of the village is the late 17th-century Grade I listed Cowick Hall the former seat of the Viscounts Downe which is now the headquarters of Croda International. In the late 13th to early 16th centuries AD, West Cowick was one of the production sites of a type of Medieval ceramic known as Humber ware.

Snaith railway station is a railway station that serves the market town of Snaith in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is located 26 miles (42 km) east of Leeds railway station on the Pontefract Line, between Knottingley and Goole. The former five trains each way per day service of the late 1980s (see British Rail National Passenger Timetables from May 1988–90) was cut in half in 1991 (due to shortage of rolling stock) and again in 2004, leaving only a residual "Parliamentary" minimum timetable in operation east of Knottingley to avoid the need for statutory closure proceedings - a situation that remains unchanged to this day.

Snaith Priory was a Benedictine priory in Snaith, within the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The priory was located at the Church of St Lawrence in Snaith, which has been a Grade I listed building since 1967. It was founded shortly after 1101, and dissolved in 1539.

Rawcliffe (or Rawcliffe in Snaith) is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England on the border with North Yorkshire. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Goole and 17 miles (27 km) south of York. It lies on the banks of the River Aire just north of the M62 and on the A614 road. Rawcliffe, along with nearby Airmyn, was the location of one of the first reliable reports of the practice of warping in agriculture in the 1730s.

Carlton is a village and civil parish in southern North Yorkshire, England. The village is situated approximately 5 miles (8 km) south-east of the town of Selby on the A1041 road. The parish had a population of 1,934 at the 2011 Census, an increase from 1,829 at the 2001 Census.Carlton was part of the West Riding of Yorkshire until 1 April 1974, when it became part of the Selby District of the new ceremonial county of North Yorkshire. On 1 April 2023, Selby District was abolished and Carlton became part of the new North Yorkshire unitary authority area. Holy Family Catholic High School is a secondary school located in the village. Carlton Primary School, which was called Carlton-in-Snaith Community Primary School prior to 2020, is also located in the village.

Holy Family Catholic High School is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school located in Carlton in the Selby District of North Yorkshire, England.The school has capacity for 450 pupils. Currently 444 pupils attend the school.The school was rated as "Requires Improvement" by Ofsted in September 2019. Only 8% of students achieve the English Baccalaureate, compared with 43% of students in the Local Authority Area as a whole. However, performance in core GCSEs is in line with the local average, with 46% of Holy Family pupils achieving grade 5 or above in their English and maths GCSEs compared with 47% in the Local Authority.Previously a voluntary aided school administered by North Yorkshire County Council, in March 2021 Holy Family Catholic High School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by the Bishop Konstant Catholic Academy Trust.The school offers GCSEs and Cambridge Nationals as programmes of study for pupils.

Rawcliffe railway station is a railway station that serves the village of Rawcliffe in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The station is located on the Pontefract Line. The line passing through here was once a busy passenger and freight link to the inland port of Goole (the line and station first being opened by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in 1848) but since the mid-1980s much of the traffic that once used this route has disappeared. The route is single track between Hensall and Goole, the level crossing here has been automated and the rail-served freight terminal in Goole docks sees little use. The station has also been downsized and its signal box demolished. The Snaith School is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in Snaith in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The school was founded in 1899. As of 2014 the school had a pupil count of 910. Also as of the 2014 ofsted report the school was rated: Good. the Percentage of pupils who attained five GCSEs grade A* to C including English and mathematics in 2014 was 66%.

Carlton Towers railway station served the village of Carlton, Selby, England from 1885 to 1959 on the Hull and Barnsley Railway.

Drax Hales railway station was one of two railway stations that served the village of Drax in North Yorkshire, England. It opened to passengers and goods in 1912 as part of the Selby to Goole line and later closed in 1964 as part of the Beeching cuts. The area is now occupied by the A645 road.
