Lakeland Square Mall is a shopping center situated on the northern side of Lakeland, Florida. Serving Polk County as one of only two enclosed malls, it holds the distinction of being the sole shopping destination off of I-4 between Tampa and Orlando. Presently, the mall is anchored by Dillard's, Resale America, J. C. Penney, Urban Air Adventure Park, and Cinemark Theatres. Developed by Edward J. DeBartolo and Homart, Lakeland Square Mall opened in 1988. When it first opened, the mall featured anchor stores such as Mervyn's, Sears, and Belk, followed shortly by the addition of Maison Blanche. In 1990, J. C. Penney joined the mall, and in 1994, Burdines also became part of the lineup, relocating from downtown Lakeland. Dillard's took over the space previously occupied by Mervyn's in 1997.In 1995, General Growth Properties acquired the Homart Company, and management was subsequently transferred to General Growth Properties. Maison Blanche, after acquiring Mercantile Stores Company, Inc., opened in the subsequent year. In 2004, Burdines transformed into Burdines-Macy's and completed its transition to Macy's in 2005. Belk closed its doors later in the same year, coinciding with the opening of a new Belk location in Lakeside Village. The vacant space left by Belk was filled by a Burlington Coat Factory in the fall of 2007.Dillard's ceased operations in 2012, consolidating its presence to the former Maison Blanche store. The vacant anchor spot once occupied by Mervyn's was demolished in 2012 to make way for the construction of a new 12-screen Cinemark Theaters and Sports Authority. This new complex opened in 2013.In 2015, the Sears property was among the 235 properties sold by Sears Holdings to Seritage Growth Properties. Sports Authority closed along with the rest of the chain in 2016, and its space was later occupied by Urban Air Adventure Park in August 2018. Macy's closed in 2017, and Resale America took over the space in November 2019.Sears, as part of a 142-store closure round, also closed in 2018. Charlotte Russe, which had closed earlier in the year, reopened at the mall as part of the chain's plan to open 100 stores in 2019. In 2022, Burlington closed its doors and relocated across the street to the Shoppes of Lakeland shopping center. Flacks Group is turning the closed Sears store at the mall into a 320-unit luxury apartment complex, set to open in 2025. The development offers one to three-bedroom units with rents ranging from $1,450 to $1,900. Amenities include a clubhouse, pool deck, dog park, and yoga garden. The project may provide direct mall access to boost economic support.

The Griffin Elementary School is a school building in Lakeland, Florida. It is part of the Polk County Public Schools district. The original school building was built in 1932. On June 5, 2007, this building was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places as the Griffin Grammar School.

Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium is a baseball field in Lakeland, Florida. The 8,500-seat stadium was opened in 1966 and has had multiple renovations, most recently in 2017. It was named after local resident and former Lakeland Parks and Recreation Director Marcus "Joker" Marchant. It is the spring training home of the Detroit Tigers and the regular-season home of the minor league affiliates Lakeland Flying Tigers and Gulf Coast Tigers. On March 15, 2011, the largest crowd in the stadium's history (10,307 people) watched a spring training game between the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox.

Rochelle School of the Arts (RSA) is a K–8 magnet school in Lakeland, Florida that has a specific focus on art-related subjects. It offers a variety of classes, such as Art, Band, Dance, Orchestra, Theatre, and Vocal. Rochelle has many different other classes that students can participate in such as keyboard, creative writing, photography, television production, robotics, theatre tech, musical theatre, art, women's choir, men's choir, Treble Choir, Show Choir, Physical Education and handbells. There are many clubs at Rochelle that do not have a class such as, Rocketry Club, Chess Club, Junior Thespians, Ukulele, SSYRA club, National Junior Honor Society, P.E.A.R.L.S, Math Counts, Golf Club, Recycling Squad, and Robotics.

Kathleen is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,280 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Thomas W. Bryant Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Lakeland, Florida that is currently home to Lakeland High School athletics and the Lakeland Tropics soccer team of USL League Two. It is named for Thomas W. Bryant, a Lakeland native lawyer, legislator, and donor to the University of Florida. Bryant Stadium is just to the north of Henley Field. In August 2017, Polk County Public Schools purchased Bryant Stadium from the City of Lakeland at a cost of $1.2 million.

Henley Field is a historic site in Lakeland, Florida. Built in 1922, it is located at 1125 North Florida Avenue. Clare Henley, for whom the park was named in 1942, encouraged its construction in an effort to persuade a professional baseball team to train there. On May 23, 1997, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Henley Field is located adjacent to Bryant Stadium, a football stadium. Henley Field was used as the home ballpark of the fictional Class D Tampico Stogies in the 1987 HBO movie Long Gone which starred William Petersen and Virginia Madsen. During the film the stadium was known as Smythe Field. The ballpark was renovated prior to the 2002 season at a cost of $250,000. Henley was renovated to enable the Lakeland Tigers to play at the historic ballpark during the 2002 season. while their home field, Joker Marchant Stadium (which is also the current spring training home of the Detroit Tigers), was renovated during the 2002 season. On September 2, 2015, the City of Lakeland announced it would sell Henley Field for $1 million to United Methodist Church-affiliated Florida Southern College, whose baseball team have used the park for the past 55 years.

The John F. Cox Grammar School (also known as the John F. Cox Elementary School) is a historic school in Lakeland, Florida. It is located at 1005-1021 North Massachusetts Avenue. On July 22, 1999, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Lakeland is a city in Central Florida. Located along Interstate 4 east of Tampa and west of Orlando, it is the most populous city in Polk County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 U.S. Census Bureau release, the city had a population of 112,641. Lakeland is a principal city of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is sometimes locally referred to by the nickname "Swan City" due to its sizeable population of swans, all of whom are descendants of two mute swans gifted to Lakeland by Queen Elizabeth II in 1957. Lakeland is the birthplace of Publix, a supermarket chain. European-American settlers arrived in Lakeland from Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina in the 1870s. The city expanded in the 1880s with the arrival of rail service, with the first freedmen railway workers settling here in 1883. They and European immigrants also came because of land development opportunities with farming, citrus, cattle and phosphate industry developing. Lakeland is home to the 1,267-acre Circle B Bar Reserve (513 ha).

McKeel Academy of Technology is a junior and senior high school of over 1,000 students located in Lakeland, Florida, United States. It is located approximately a half mile southeast of Kathleen High School and cannot be viewed from any major road. In addition to being technology oriented, the school stresses career choices for each student. The school originally was Seth McKeel Jr High, and became McKeel Academy in the 1990s. McKeel Academy is a school of choice and students from anywhere within Polk County can attend. Entering students are selected through an open enrollment lottery. Students graduating from one of the McKeel Elementary Schools, siblings of current students, students that were previously in South Mckeel Academy, and children of staff members are given priority.

Tiger Flowers Cemetery is a historic cemetery for African Americans in Lakeland, Florida. Most of its burials are in crypts. It is now city-owned and has struggled with maintenance issues and poor record keeping.The cemetery is named for boxer Tiger Flowers. Burials include Henry Wilkins Chandler. His son-in-law Dr. David John Simpson, who took care of many of the area's Spanish Influenza patients, is also buried there.Cemeteries in the area were segregated and Tiger Flowers Cemetery is near the Roselawn Cemetery which includes a section for Confederate soldiers. Relocation of a Confederate statue from Lakeland's Munn Park to Roselawn Cemetery's Confederate section a 1/4 mile away from the African American burial ground was considered by the city.
