The National Elephant Center was an American 501(c)(3) non-profit conservation organization founded by a group of ten directors from zoos accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The National Elephant Center was open from 2013 - 2016 and is now closed. It was created to provide care to African and Asian elephants on a 225-acre (91 ha) site in Fellsmere, Florida. In addition to providing care to animals, its goal was also contribute research, support and population management to accredited zoos with elephants. The National Elephant Center was forced to close in 2016 after the deaths of three elephants. Though not accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the National Elephant Center was a collaborative effort between AZA institutions and was intended to become the center for AZA elephant population management. It envisioned itself as a world leader in elephant conservation, scientific research and care for elephant populations in zoos and in the wild.

The First Methodist Episcopal Church is a historic church in Fellsmere, Florida. It is located at 39 North Broadway Street. It was built in 1924 by local contractor Corydon E. Nourse. In 1996, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival is a city fundraiser held annually in Fellsmere, Florida in the third week of January. The first festival, proposed by Fran Adams, and other local residents, was planned in 1990 in order to increase the funds of Fellsmere's recreation department. Since that time, festival attendance has grown tremendously and the city of Fellsmere continues to benefit from it.In 2006, the festival took place from January 19–22; in 2007 it took place January 18–21. In 2008, it was held January 17–20. The festival is planned for 19–22 January 2023. Since 2021, strict measures are in place, such as wearing masks & social distancing to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Fellsmere Public School is a historic school in Fellsmere, Florida. It is located at 22 South Orange Street. On November 22, 1996, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Deer Run is an equestrian community in Brevard, Florida, United States known for wildlife. The community began when Cavalier Properties Inc. along with Atico Financial Corp purchased the property July 10, 1980 for the sum of $2,715,000. The development was officially completed on January 27, 1983. The community was platted thereafter with 560 lots over 2.5 square miles. There are currently 493 land parcels, as some parcels have been combined. As of 2018 about 147 of the parcels have been developed. Deer Run Community park features a community building, tennis court, and equestrian ring.
