Rodia, Achaea

Elaeonas or Elaionas (Greek: Ελαιώνας meaning olive grove 'the place where olives grow', before 1949: Τρυπιά - Trypia) is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Diakopto, in the northern part of the Peloponnese peninsula, Greece. It is on the Gulf of Corinth, 3 km west of Diakopto and 9 km southeast of Aigio. The Olympia Odos (Greek National Road Α8) (Patras - Corinth - Athens) passes south of the village. The community consists of the villages Elaionas, Metochi and Terpsithea. In 2011 Elaionas had a population of 671 (712 for the community). The village lies between the river of Vouraikos and Selinountas in the foothills of Mount Marathia. According to Pausanias, travelers could visit the caverns of Heracles in those foothills. A small marked path off the Old National Highway leads you to these caves.

Nikolaiika (Greek: Νικολαίικα) is a village in the municipal unit of Diakopto, Achaea, Greece. It is located near the Gulf of Corinth coast, 1 km east of Rizomylos, 5 km west of Diakopto and 7 km southeast of Aigio. The Greek National Road 8A (Patras - Aigio - Corinth) passes south of the village. In 2011, Nikolaiika had a population of 438.

Eliki railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Ελίκη, romanized: Sidirodromikós Stathmós Eliki) is a Station on the Athens Airport–Patras railway line just outside the borders of the settlement of Eliki, a small village in Achaea, Greece. It is located just North of the village, close to the 8A motorway. It was opened on 22 June 2020 as part of the €848-million ErgOSE project extension of the Athens Airport–Patras railway to Aigio rail line, co-financed by the European Union's Cohesion Fund 2000–2006. The station is served by Hellenic Train local services between Kiato and Aigio. It should not be confused with the now-closed station on the old Piraeus–Patras railway, which is located northeast of the current station, closer to the coast of the Corinthian Gulf

Zachloritika (Greek: Ζαχλωρίτικα) is a village in the municipal unit of Diakopto, Achaea, Greece. It is located on the left bank of the river Vouraikos, 1 km west of Diakopto. The Greek National Road 8A (Patras - Aigio - Corinth) passes south of the village. In 2011 Zachloritika had a population of 339.

Rizomylos (Greek: Ριζόμυλος meaning rice mill) is a village in the municipal unit of Diakopto, Achaea, Greece. Its beach on the Gulf of Corinth, 2 km northeast of the village, is well known. Aigio is 6 km to the northwest, and the village Nea Keryneia is adjacent to the west. The Greek National Road 8A (Patras - Corinth) passes south of the village. In 2011, Rizomylos had a population of 366 inhabitants.

The Selinountas (Greek: Σελινούντας, Ancient Greek: Σελινοῦς, romanized: Selinous, Latin: Selinus) is a river in Achaea, Greece. It is 47.8 km (29.7 mi) long. Its source is on Mount Erymanthos, near the village Kato Vlasia in southern Achaea. It flows in generally northeastern direction, through the municipalities Kalavryta and Aigialeia. It flows into the Gulf of Corinth in the village Valimitika, near the town Aigio.

Helike (; Greek: Ἑλίκη, pronounced [heˈlikɛː], modern Greek pronunciation: [eˈlici]) was an ancient Greek polis (city-state) that was submerged by a tsunami in the winter of 373 BC. It was located in the regional unit of Achaea, northern Peloponnesos, two kilometres (12 stadia) from the Corinthian Gulf and near the city of Boura, which, like Helike, was a member of the Achaean League. Modern research attributes the catastrophe to an earthquake and accompanying tsunami which destroyed and submerged the city. In an effort to protect the site from destruction, the World Monuments Fund included Helike in its 2004 and 2006 List of 100 Most Endangered Sites.

Eliki (Greek: Ελίκη, before 1917: Ζευγολατιό - Zevgolatio), is a village in the municipal unit of Diakopto, Achaea, Greece. It was named after the nearby ancient town Helike. Eliki is located near the river Selinountas and the Gulf of Corinth. It is 5 km (3.1 mi) southeast of Aigio and 7 km (4.3 mi) west of Diakopto. Nea Keryneia is adjacent to the east. Eliki had a population of 516 in 2011, including the small village Kalanteri. The Greek National Road 8A (Athens - Corinth - Patras) passes south of the village.

Keryneia (Greek: Κερύνεια) is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Diakopto, Achaea, Greece. The community consists of the villages Keryneia and Nea Keryneia. It is located 6 km southeast of Aigio and 7 km west of Diakopto. The Greek National Road 8A (Patras - Aigio - Corinth) passes between Keryneia and Nea Keryneia. In 2011 Keryneia had a population of 35 for the village and 362 for the community. The town takes its name from the ancient town of Ceryneia

Valimitika (Greek: Βαλιμίτικα) is a village in the municipal unit of Aigio, Achaea, Greece. It is situated at the outflow of the river Selinountas into the Gulf of Corinth, 5 km east of Aigio. The railway from Corinth to Patras passes through the village. In 2011 Valimitika had a population of 575.

Diakopto (Greek: Διακοπτό) is a coastal town municipality in Achaea, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reforms it is a municipal unit of the Aigialeia municipality. The municipal unit has an area of 103.932 km2. Population 6,429 (2011). The town of Diakopto is situated on the Gulf of Corinth, near the mouth of the Vouraikos river and at the lower end of the Vouraikos Gorge. The 750 mm (2 ft 5+1⁄2 in) gauge Diakofto–Kalavryta Railway built in 1885 leads up to the town of Kalavryta passing the Mega Spilaio Monastery at about halfway. Diakopto is on the old Greek National Road 8 (Athens - Corinth - Patras); the new Greek National Road 8A (also Athens - Corinth - Patras) passes 1 km to the south. Diakopto is located about 40 km east of Patras, and 15 km southeast of Aigio.

The Vouraikos (Greek: Βουραϊκός, Latin: Buraïcus, Erasinus (Ancient Greek: Ἐρασῖνος, romanized: Erasinos) according to Strabo) is a river in Achaea, Greece. In ancient times it was called Erasinos. Its source is in the Aroania mountains, near the village of Priolithos. It flows past the towns of Kalavryta and Diakopto, and flows into the Gulf of Corinth near Diakopto. It is 37.5 km (23.3 mi) long. The name is derived from Boura, a mythological daughter of Ion and Helice who was beloved by Hercules, who according to legend opened the gorge in order to get close to her. This is the Vouraikos gorge, which has a length of about 20 km. In the gorge the river passes along dense vegetation and steep cliffs, waterfalls and caves. The Diakofto–Kalavryta Railway passes through the Vouraikos gorge.According to legend there was a cave on the banks of the river which was dedicated to Hercules. There pilgrims came to read their fate in the Tables of Knowledge, as they were called.The river is mentioned by Pausanias in his Description of Greece.
