Jacksonville Beach, Florida

San Pablo Island is an unofficial name of a barrier island located off the northeast Atlantic coast of Florida in the United States. It composes the Jacksonville Beaches sitting on the eastern edge of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The island is about 34 miles (55 km) long. It is separated from the mainland by the Intracoastal waterway to the west, the St. Johns River to the north, and St. Augustine Inlet to the south. The island's name has been recognized by the city-county consolidated government of Jacksonville and by the municipal government of Atlantic Beach. Multiple other names had been proposed, including Pablo Island, San Diego Island, Diego Island. The goal of uniting a 30-plus mile stretch with its seven communities, some unincorporated, under one name is to provide better opportunities for tourism business. The northern half of the island is in Duval County, and consists of the cities of Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach, as well as a portion of Jacksonville, including Mayport village. The southern half of the island is in St. Johns County, and includes the communities of Ponte Vedra Beach, Sawgrass and Vilano Beach Naval Station Mayport is at the northern tip of the island, and the mouth of the St. Johns River.

American Red Cross Volunteer Life Saving Corps Station is a national historic site located at 2 Ocean Front North, Jacksonville Beach, Florida in Duval County. The building, constructed in 1947, is an example in the Art Modeme Style of local architect Jefferson Davis Powell. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 5, 2014.

Freebird Live (originally Freebird Cafe) was a music venue located in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. They closed their doors with a final concert on January 21, 2016.

Springing the Blues is an annual blues festival held in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. It is one of the largest and oldest blues festivals on the East Coast of the United States. It was first held in 1990 and has been held yearly on the first weekend of April.

The Casa Marina Hotel is a historic hotel in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. It is located at 12 Sixth Avenue, North. On September 2, 1993, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The National Trust for Historic Preservation has accepted the Casa Marina Hotel to be part of the Historic Hotels of America.

St. Paul's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church is an Episcopal church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The first church to be established in the Jacksonville Beaches, it dates to 1887 with the construction of its original building. The current building was dedicated in 1967.

Adventure Landing is a group of amusement parks located in Florida, New York, North Carolina and Texas. The first park was opened in Jacksonville Beach, Florida in 1995 by Adventure Entertainment Company. It was a success and nine other Adventure Landing parks were constructed.Adventure Landing also manages and operates several other family entertainment centers throughout the United States. In 2012, current parent company Adventure Holdings purchased The Beach Waterpark in Mason, OH, which reopened in May 2013 as The Beach at Adventure Landing. Adventure Landing runs 13 amusement parks nationwide.

Duncan U. Fletcher High School, commonly referred to as Fletcher High, is a comprehensive public high school in Neptune Beach, Florida, United States. The school is one of 47 high schools in the Duval County School District. Like all Duval County schools, it is accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. As of 2019, Fletcher High offered its 2,146 students 20 Advanced Placement courses, several varsity sports and the Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) program. As part of the Department of Education's full-service community schools (FSCS) program, the school also hosts the Beaches Resource Center, which provides mental health services to the Jacksonville Beaches area. Student academic and athletic teams, including mock trial, have represented the school at state and national competitions. Fletcher's mock trial team has competed in the National High School Mock Trial Championship (NHSMTC) after placing first in the state-level competition three times.

The killing of Jared Bridegan occurred on February 16, 2022, in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Jared Bridegan, a 33-year-old Microsoft senior design manager, was shot and killed after he dropped off his older twins at his ex-wife's house. In January 2023, Henry Tenon, was arrested for Bridegan's murder. In March 2023, a second suspect, Mario Fernandez Saldana, was arrested in Orange County, Florida. The grand jury indicted the suspect with charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation to commit a capital felony, and child abuse. In August 2023, a third suspect, Shanna Gardner, ex-wife of the victim and wife of the second suspect, was arrested and indicted on the same charges. Tenon accepted a plea deal, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. The other two suspects pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors are seeking the capital penalty against the suspects. The trial is expected to take place in late 2025.

Neptune Beach is a beachfront city east of Jacksonville in Duval County, Florida, United States. When the majority of Duval County communities consolidated with Jacksonville in 1968, Neptune Beach, along with Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach and Baldwin remained quasi-independent. Like those other towns, it maintains its own municipal government but its residents vote in the Jacksonville mayoral election and are represented on the Jacksonville city council. The population was 7,037 at the 2010 census. Neptune Beach is part of the Jacksonville Beaches community.

121 Atlantic Place, formerly the Atlantic National Bank Building, is a historic skyscraper in Jacksonville, Florida. It was built in 1909 as the headquarters for the Atlantic National Bank, and is located at 121 West Forsyth Street. It was the tallest building in Jacksonville and in Florida from 1909 to 1912, and remains an office building today.

Castaway Island Preserve is a 311-acre nature park in eastern Jacksonville, Florida that abuts the west bank of the Intracoastal Waterway. It received an Award of Honor in 2004 from the American Society of Landscape Architects and is wheelchair accessible.
