The University of Algiers (Arabic:جامعة الجزائر – بن يوسف بن خـدة ), commonly called the Algiers 1 University, it is the largest, oldest and most prestigious university in Algeria. It is headquartered in Algiers, the national capital.Emerging from a series of independent institutions in the 19th century, it was organized as a university in 1909 and profoundly reorganized in 2009. It pays tribute to Benyoucef Benkhedda, considered one of the heroes of the Algerian independence process.

The Museum of Modern Art of Algiers (MaMa) is an art museum in Algiers. It was inaugurated in 2007.

Alger Centre is a municipality in Algiers Province, Algeria. It is administratively part of Sidi M'Hamed district, and it has a population of 96,329 as of the 1998 census, which gives it 15 seats in the PMA.

The Aérohabitat is a residence located in Algiers, built between 1952 and 1955 by Louis Miquel and José Ferrer-Laloë. Constructed as a raised horizontal block, it aimed to materialize a new form of city, a "vertical village" called Unité d'habitation (Housing Unit). It consists of four buildings and 300 apartments.

Centre Hospitalo-Universitair Mustapha Pacha (French: Centre Hospitalo-Universitaire Mustapha d'Alge) was founded in 1854 in the town of Moustapha (now Sidi M'Hamed) and is the largest hospital in Algeria.This hospital center is one of 14 Centre Hospitalo-Universitair under the Algerian Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform.

The Burdeau Bridge-Building (in French: Immeuble-pont Burdeau) is a structure that combines the functions of a residential building and a road/pedestrian bridge. It is located in the Télemly district of Alger-Centre, Algeria. Designed by the French architect Lucien Pierre-Marie, the building was constructed in 1952 during the French colonial period. It consists of 7 floors with 82 apartments.

Cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur d'Alger (Sacred Heart Cathedral of Algiers) is a Roman Catholic church located in Algiers, Algeria. Completed in 1956, it became the new cathedral in the capital after the Cathedral of Saint Philip of Algiers reconverted into a Muslim Ketchaoua Mosque. The Cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur d'Alger is the cathedral church of the Archdiocese of Algiers. Construction of the church began after a wish of Bishop Leynaud in 1944. It was elevated to a cathedral in December 1962 and consecrated in 1963. The designers of the building, Paul Herbé and Jean Le Couteur, along with engineer René Sarger, were inspired by the Gospel of John. Its nave measures 52 metres (171 feet) long and 35 metres (115 feet) wide. The church is noted for its central tower.At the entrance to the nave there are small organs offered by the parish of Boufarik opposite which is a mosaic. The mural dates to 324, from the first Roman basilica of Castellum Tingitanum (Chlef). The altar is made of Carrara marble, and houses the relics of numerous African saints.

The Government Palace (Arabic: قصر الحكومة, French: Palais du Gouvernement), known before 1962 as Gouvernement général, is the office of the Prime Minister of Algeria and a major public building in Algiers. At the time of its inauguration in 1933, with a surface of 33,000 m2, it was the largest administrative building of the entire French state.

The Algiers Central Post Office, (Arabic: بريد الجزائر المركزي, French: Grande Poste d'Alger) is an office building for postal services located at Alger Centre municipality in Algiers, Algeria. It was designed by architect Jules Voinot and Marius Toudoire. and was constructed in 1910. It is Algeria's largest post office building, In 2015, the state turned it into a museum.

Icosium (Ancient Greek: Ἰκόσιον, romanized: Ikósion) was a Berber city that was part of Numedia which became an important Roman colony and an early medieval bishopric (now a Latin titular see) in the casbah area of actual Algiers.

The 1541 Algiers expedition occurred when Charles V of the Holy Roman Empire and king of Spain attempted to lead an amphibious attack against regency of Algiers, in modern Algeria. Inadequate planning, particularly against unfavourable weather, led to the failure of the expedition.
