Fort Lauderdale High School is a high school located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that serves students in grades 9 through 12. The school is a part of the Broward County Public Schools district. Founded in 1899 as a school for whites, the high school is the oldest continuously functioning high school in Broward County, Florida, and the oldest in South Florida.Fort Lauderdale High has an FCAT School grade of "A" for the 2011-2012 school year, the highest grade a school can achieve.It serves: portions of Fort Lauderdale, Wilton Manors, Lazy Lake, a portion of Oakland Park, and a portion of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.

The Oakland Park Elementary School is a historic school in Oakland Park, Florida, United States. The school, part of Broward County Public Schools, is located at 936 Northeast 33rd Street. On June 9, 1988, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. As of 2016 the principle of the school is Michelle Garcia. The mascot of the school is an eagle. Grades are Pre-K, K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. There are English for Speakers of Other Languages students in this school who typically natively speak Spanish or Creole.

Fort Lauderdale (; also spelled Ft. Lauderdale) is a coastal city located in the U.S. state of Florida, 25 miles (40 km) north of Miami along the Atlantic Ocean. It is the county seat of and largest city in Broward County with a population of 182,760 as of the 2020 Census making it the tenth largest city in Florida. Fort Lauderdale is the second largest and one of three principal cities comprising the Miami metropolitan area with a population of 6,166,488. Built in 1838 and first incorporated in 1911, Fort Lauderdale is named after a series of forts built by the United States during the Second Seminole War. The forts took their name from Major William Lauderdale (1782–1838), younger brother of Lieutenant Colonel James Lauderdale. Development of the city did not begin until 50 years after the forts were abandoned at the end of the conflict. Three forts named "Fort Lauderdale" were constructed including the first at the fork of the New River, the second at Tarpon Bend on the New River between the present-day Colee Hammock and Rio Vista neighborhoods, and the third near the site of the Bahia Mar Marina.Known as the “Venice of America," Fort Lauderdale has 165-miles of inland waterways across the city. In addition to tourism, Fort Lauderdale has a diversified economy including marine, manufacturing, finance, insurance, real estate, high technology, avionics/aerospace, film, and television production. The city is a popular tourist destination with an average year-round temperature of 75.5 °F (24.2 °C) and 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue Department is the fire and rescue service provider for the City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as well as the cities of Wilton Manors and Lazy Lake through service contracts. Additionally the FLFRD is responsible for ARFF at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. In 2013, the department responded to 44,387 calls for service.

Poinsettia Heights is a neighborhood in the northeast section of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and its boundaries are west of Federal Highway (US 1), north of Sunrise Boulevard and adjacent to the neighborhoods of Lake Ridge and Middle River Terrace. The original development, called "North Ridge," was built by Gill Construction Company right after World War II in the 1940s and early 1950s. Today homes line the streets from 15th Avenue on the west to 20th Avenue and Lake Melva on the east. The Middle River forms a natural boundary to the north and 13th Street separates it from the neighboring Lake Ridge.Poinsettia Heights is zoned single family residents and allows townhomes and condos only along the two main thoroughfares. Two schools are located in within the neighborhood (Sunrise Middle School and Bennett Elementary School.) Shopping can be done along U.S. 1 and its eastside location. Homes generally range from 1,100 to 1,800 square feet (170 m2) but with new construction can be in excess of 4,000 square feet (370 m2).

The Parker Playhouse is a 1,191-seat theatre in southern Florida. The Playhouse was established by Dr. Louis Parker. The curtain rose for the first time on February 6, 1967 as E.G. Marshall and Dennis O'Keefe starred in Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple. Parker teamed with Broadway impresario Zev Buffman, who was also producing shows in Miami at the Coconut Grove Playhouse, to offer productions featuring many of the top theater artists of the day. Parker Playhouse has produced continuously for nearly 40 years with community arts organizations joining Broadway headliners in shows that made South Florida theater history. Today, (2006) the Parker Playhouse is controlled by the Performing Arts Center Authority ("PACA") – the governing body that oversees the Broward Center for the Performing Arts which manages the theater and provides the programming on its stage. Although much has changed since it first opened its doors, Parker Playhouse is poised to once again take center stage and play an important role in the community.

Stonewall National Museum and Archives (SNMA) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that promotes understanding through preserving, interpreting and sharing the culture of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their role in society. It owns and manages a library and archival collection and presents a series of public programs. SNMA has two small exhibition areas (Ross Gallery and Hester Gallery) with changing exhibitions drawn primarily from its collections. Additionally, SNMA hosts a web-based LGBTQ timeline of American LGBTQ history, launched in 2021 and known as In Plain Sight. Although Stonewall's name is inspired by the Stonewall Inn where the 1969 Stonewall riots took place, the museum and archive has no direct link with the New York location.

War Memorial Auditorium is a 2,110-seat multi-purpose arena and convention center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, U.S.The venue hosted professional wrestling cards from the Championship Wrestling from Florida promotion between 1951 and 1987. It was later home to television tapings for Ladies Major League Wrestling in 1990 and UWF Fury Hour in 1991. It was also host to ECW Hardcore Heaven in 1997, MLW WarGames in 2003, ROH Showdown in the Sun in 2012, and MLW WarGames in 2018. The venue has hosted professional boxing cards since 1950, including the professional debut of Mickey Rourke in 1991.The Florida Panthers, who play at FLA Live Arena in nearby Sunrise, Florida, began leasing the venue in 2019 with plans to renovate it for community use.

The Mai-Kai is a Polynesian-themed restaurant and tiki bar in Oakland Park, Florida. It opened to the public on December 28, 1956, and is one of the few "Grand Polynesian Palaces of Tiki" still in operation today. In 2015 it was named the "best tiki bar in the world" by Critiki, an organization of fans of Polynesian pop culture. It is the last restaurant in existence carrying on the traditions of service and serving the original drink recipes of Don the Beachcomber, and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Twin Lakes was a census-designated place (CDP) in Broward County, Florida, United States, which was divided into Twin Lakes North and Twin Lakes South. The population was 1,875 at the 2000 census. On November 2, 2004, residents of the Twin Lakes North voted to join the City of Fort Lauderdale. The annexation became effective on September 15, 2005, and it now serves as a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood. Twin Lakes South became a neighborhood of Oakland Park, Florida in 2005.
