Haltwhistle

The Old Town Hall, also known as The Old Courthouse, is a former municipal building in Main Street, Haltwhistle, a town in Northumberland, England. The building, which is currently in use in part as a hair salon, and in part as commercial offices, is a Grade II listed building.

Haltwhistle War Memorial Hospital is a health facility at Greencroft Park, Haltwhistle, Northumberland, England. It is managed by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The war memorial itself, which stands in front of the hospital, is a Grade II listed structure.

Haltwhistle is a railway station on the Tyne Valley Line, which runs between Newcastle and Carlisle via Hexham. The station, situated 22 miles 66 chains (22.8 mi; 36.7 km) east of Carlisle, serves the market town of Haltwhistle in Northumberland, England. Plenmeller is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Plenmeller with Whitfield, in Northumberland, England about a mile (1½ km) southeast of Haltwhistle. In 1951 the parish had a population of 107.

Bellister Castle is a National Trust owned castellated 19th-century mansion house attached to the ruinous remains of a 14th-century tower house, near Haltwhistle, Northumberland, England. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade I listed building. The house is leased as a private residence and not open to the public.

The Haltwhistle Burn is a river which lies to the east of the Northumbrian town of Haltwhistle. Rising in the peaty uplands below the ridge of the Whin Sill, the burn passes through the Roman Military Zone south of Hadrian's Wall and through a dramatic sandstone gorge before descending between wooded banks to the South Tyne Valley. The Haltwhistle Burn drains an area of approximately 42 km2. Today, the Burn is a haven for wildlife and a popular walk for residents and tourists but from Roman times until the 1930s the combination of valuable minerals and water power attracted a succession of industries which provided goods and employment to the town.

Lees Hall Roman Camp is an archaeological site, a Roman camp near Hadrian's Wall, in Northumberland, England. It is near Haltwhistle and adjacent to the B6318 road.

Tipalt Burn is a burn which lies to the east of Greenhead, Northumberland. The burn passes several historical sites such as Thirlwall Castle and discharges into the River South Tyne near the village of Haltwhistle. The burn is about 10 miles (16 km) in length and is located close to the north end of the Pennine Way.

Aesica (modern name Great Chesters) was a Roman fort, 1.5 miles (2,400 m) north of the small town of Haltwhistle in Northumberland. It was the ninth fort on Hadrian's Wall, between Vercovicium (Housesteads) 6.0 miles (9.7 km) to the east and Banna (Birdoswald) 6.5 miles (10.5 km) to the west. Its main purpose was to guard the Caw Gap where the Haltwhistle Burn crosses the Wall.

Milecastle 43 (Great Chesters) was a milecastle on Hadrian's Wall (grid reference NY70356684). It was obliterated when the fort at Great Chesters (Aesica) was built.

Milecastle 42 (Cawfields) is a milecastle on Hadrian's Wall (grid reference NY7157466692).
