West Monroe is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,227 at the 2020 census. The CDP is located within Monroe Charter Township.

Custer Airport (ICAO: KTTF, FAA LID: TTF), sometimes referred to as Monroe Custer Airport, is a city-owned public airport located in the city of Monroe in Monroe County, Michigan. The airport opened in November 1946 and was named for George Armstrong Custer, who spent much of his early life in Monroe. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a local general aviation facility.Custer Airport is owned by the city of Monroe and is financially supported through hangar rentals, landing fees, and fuel sales. It is located on North Custer Road (formerly designated as M-130) about two miles (3.2 km) northwest of Monroe's downtown area. The airport property itself—occupying 158 acres (64 hectares)—is an exclave of the city limits and is separated by a one-quarter mile (0.4 km) wide undeveloped residential area belonging to Frenchtown Charter Township. Since the city owns the airport, the area it occupies was incorporated into the city limits. Munson Park, the largest public recreation park in Monroe, occupies the land immediately east of the airport. The River Raisin is just south of the airport, and farmland surrounds the airport to the west and north.

The Rudolph Nims House is a private residence located at 206 West Noble Street in the city of Monroe in Monroe County, Michigan. It was listed as a Michigan Historic Site on October 29, 1971 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 18, 1972.

The Weis Manufacturing Company, currently known as WoodCraft Square, is a former factory located at 800 West 7th Street (at the intersection with Union and originally the building used an address of 61 Union) in the city of Monroe in Monroe County, Michigan. It was listed as a Michigan Historic Site and added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 26, 1981.

The Navarre–Anderson Trading Post is a former trading post complex located at 3775 North Custer Road in Frenchtown Charter Township along the River Raisin in Monroe County, Michigan. It was listed as a Michigan Historic Site on June 16, 1972 and also listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 31, 1972.The main building on the complex dates back to 1789, and is claimed to be the oldest surviving wooden residential building in the state. However, architectural analyses of the Biddle and McGulpin houses on Mackinac Island indicate they could date back as far as 1780. The Navarre–Anderson complex was established by the early French settlers Francois Navarre and John Anderson, who were among the first to settle the area of present-day Monroe. In addition to the main building, which also served as a house, the cookhouse building was built in 1810. The original barn is no longer standing, but a 1790s replica was built on the complex.The complex was originally located several miles downstream in the present-day Old Village Historic District. When advancing development threatened this historical complex, it was moved in 1894 and again in 1971. The complex was restored back to its appearance from what it looked like 1799. Today, the complex is owned by the Monroe County Historical Museum and is open to the public for special events and group tours.

South Monroe is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 6,468 at the 2020 census. The CDP is located within Monroe Charter Township.

The Monroe County Intermediate School District (commonly abbreviated as the Monroe County ISD or MCISD) is an intermediate school district that provides educational services throughout Monroe County, Michigan. The ISD provides numerous services to all nine of Monroe County's public schools, as well as two public charter schools and 15 private schools. The ISD also provides educational services for juvenile delinquents and works with other government agencies, charitable organizations (such as United Way), Monroe County Community College, and the county's library system.While the Monroe County ISD serves all schools in Monroe County, its boundary is not conterminous with Monroe County and follows the district lines drawn by the county's public schools. Certain portions of Monroe County, especially those in the northern portions near Milan, Flat Rock, and South Rockwood, are within the boundaries of schools in Wayne County and are incorporated into the Wayne County RESA. Not all students in Monroe County attend a school in Monroe County and therefore are not under the ISD's jurisdiction. At the same time, the ISD provides services for those out-of-county students who attend schools in Monroe County — most notably Whiteford Agricultural Schools and Airport Community Schools, who have boundaries extending into neighboring counties.

The Hall of the Divine Child was a boarding school in Monroe, Michigan serving kindergarten through eighth grades. It was built in 1918 and closed in 1980; the building turned into the "Norman Towers". It was entered onto the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

Monroe County Community College (MCCC) is a public community college in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The main campus is located in Monroe Charter Township with a smaller off-campus location further south in Temperance. MCCC was founded in 1964 and is the only higher education institution in the county. The college was established in 1964. Classes were initially held at the Ida Public Schools in the fall of 1965. Classes were first held at the main campus in the fall of 1967. MCCC offers a general education program for students seeking transfer to a four-year university or those seeking a career in a vocational education. The college has a highly regarded and selective nursing school. The highest degree that one can achieve solely through MCCC is an associate degree. Nearby universities, such as Eastern Michigan University and Siena Heights University, offer some of their undergraduate courses at Monroe County Community College so students can earn a bachelor's degree without ever leaving MCCC's campus. MCCC also has a Formula SAE chapter, a student operated newspaper (Agora), and programs available in distance learning, courses on video, and online courses. The college has no sports teams, but they do offer intramural courses in many sports and physical health classes.

Saint Michael the Archangel Church (St. Michael Church) is located on the west side of the city of Monroe, Michigan, along the River Raisin and is a part of the Archdiocese of Detroit. Its congregants include over 1,000 registered families. It was founded in 1852. Its current pastor is Rev. Kishore Battu, who has been serving the St. Michael community since August 1, 2020.
