Cedar Creek, Delaware

Cedar Creek is a 10.5-mile-long (16.9 km) stream and estuary of Delaware Bay in Cumberland County, New Jersey in the United States.It rises in Lawrence Township and flows through Lummistown, where it is dammed twice to form the Lummis Lakes. It is dammed again at Cedarville to form Cedar Lake, below which it enters the marshes and becomes tidal. Fresh Creek, now mostly turned to marsh, ran south to connect it to Middle Brook and cut off Jones Island. Bowers Creek and Howells Creek discharge into it among the marshlands before it empties into Nantuxent Cove of Delaware Bay.

Cubbage Pond (also known as Cabbage Pond) is a reservoir on Cedar Creek in Sussex County, Delaware, United States, about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east of Lincoln. It is approximately 0.5 miles (0.80 km) long.Cubbage Pond Mill has stood on this site since about 1785, built originally by John and William Draper. Samuel Draper, eldest son of William Draper, inherited it around 1821 and sold it to Lemuel Shockley. John C. Davis owned the mill from 1833 to 1863, then Charles M. Miles was owner from 1866 to 1879. Subsequent owners were John Dubois (owned 1879–1881), Mark H. Davis (owned 1881–1892), Frank Davis (owned 1892–1908). It was last operated by Samuel Cubbage from 1908 to 1917. He died in 1917 and the mill was inherited by his widow Ida.The properties were passed on from Ida Cubbage to W. Edgar Waples. The property passed from W. Edgar Waples to son-in-law Theodore Jones in 1928. In 1930 the property was sold in a Sherriff's sale to Joseph and Nancy Brittingham. In 1951 the Cubbage Pond and the millwrights property were sold to Orville and Susan Wilson. The Wilsons sold the properties to Henry and Mary Cofer in 1954; upon Henry's death in 1968 the property became solely owned by Mary Cofer. Mary Cofer died in 1980 and the property was inherited by her son, Gary Cofer who is the current owner. Use of Cubbage Pond is limited to property owners bordering the pond and those given permission by the current owner. The only regulations are those set forth by the State of Delaware. Fishing from the property along the road is tolerated; but, the local residents generally don't tolerate much noise and littering and are encouraged by the current owner to report any problems they may have to the Delaware State Police and/or the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

Argos Corner (also referred to as Argo Corners) is an unincorporated community in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. Argos Corner is located along Delaware Route 1 (DE 1) southeast of Milford. It is a neighborhood consisting of one main road (Argos Corner Road), which used to be old DE 14. Argos Corner Road is perpendicular to Slaughter Beach Road. There are two businesses on Argos Corner Road: Taylor Marine Center (a boating store and repair center), and War Relics (a store specializing in the sale of military relics and paraphernalia). Former Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner once lived in Argos Corner.

Lincoln (originally Lincoln City) is an unincorporated community in northern Sussex County, Delaware, United States. It is part of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. The planner who originally laid out the town planned for it to become the county seat. Lincoln lies on U.S. Route 113 between Ellendale and Milford. The town was never incorporated, but streets were laid out and several businesses and residences came, surrounding the current Delmarva Central Railroad line. Lincoln was formerly the headquarters of the Delaware Coast Line Railroad. Recently there has been a push to incorporate Lincoln, primarily for two reasons. First, the city of Milford is quickly growing towards Lincoln and could eventually envelop the town. Secondly, the Delaware Department of Transportation is developing a Milford By-Pass for US 113 that could divide the small community of Lincoln, effectively cutting off neighbors from each other, as well as causing the removal of several homes and businesses and at least one of the two schools in Lincoln.In the 2020 United States census, Lincoln was added as a census-designated place.

Geneva Academy is a private classical Christian school located in Lincoln, Delaware. The school was founded in 2007 by a group of homeschool parents, taking inspiration from Dorothy Sayers essay "The Lost Tools of Learning," as well as Douglas Wilson's books, Recovering the Lost Tools of Learning and The Case for Classical Christian Education. Geneva Academy follows a traditional education pattern called the Trivium. This pattern consists of three successive stages: grammar, logic (dialectic), and rhetoric. Geneva Academy was a member of Association of Classical and Christian Schools but, as of September 2020, is no longer a member.

Egglinton Hall is a historic home located in Milford, Sussex County, Delaware. The house was constructed by Henry Egglinton circa 1790 and is noted for its Greek Revival features, particularly the two-story porch added in 1828. Reverend Truston P. McColley, a significant figure in Sussex County history, lived in the house from 1828 until 1874. McColley preached and led Methodist churches around Milford; he was also a successful businessman who helped start the peach industry in southern Delaware and organized a railroad in Milford. In addition, McColley served as president of the 1852 Delaware Constitutional Convention.Egglinton Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 7, 1983.

Milford Shipyard Area Historic District is a national historic district located at Milford, Sussex County, Delaware. The district includes 18 contributing buildings, including the original Vinyard Shipyard (now Delaware Marine & Manufacturing) and surrounding workers' houses. The shipyard buildings are the combination office and warehouse (c. 1920), mold/sail loft (c. 1900), boat house (1929), and machine shop (c. 1930). The remaining buildings are primarily one and two-story, frame, center hall plan dwellings built around 1870.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Carlisle House is a historic home located at Milford, Sussex County, Delaware. It was built in 1794, and is a two-story, five-bay, frame building with a gable roof with dormers. It has a two-story rear wing and two side wings; one a conservatory and the other a garage. It has a pent roof across the front with a pedimented entrance hood supported by paired Doric order columns. The house was built by a ship's carpenter, David West, and is one of the last surviving artifacts from a once prosperous shipbuilding industry.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Dr. Dawson House is a historic home located at Milford, Sussex County, Delaware. It was built in the mid-19th century, and is a two-story, five-bay, frame building with a steep gable roof with cross gable and lancet windows in the Gothic Revival style. It has a one-story side wing and two-story rear wing. A porch covers the middle three bays on the main house. It was originally built as two separate, but neighboring, structures that were joined at an unknown date. Dr. Dawson used part of the house as an office.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Federalsburg (also known as Fleatown) is an unincorporated community in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. Federalsburg was located at the intersection of Old State Road and Fleatown Road, north of Ellendale.

South Milford Historic District, or Victorian South Milford Historic District, is a national historic district located at Milford, Sussex County, Delaware. The district includes 68 contributing buildings. The northernmost part of the district includes part of Milford's central business district. It primarily consists of frame dwellings located on large town lots and a small number of brick commercial structures. They are in a variety of popular styles including Queen Anne and Gothic Revival. Notable buildings include the Windsor Block (1872), Milford Trust Company building, old Post Office building (1910), Adkins House (c. 1860), Causey Mansion (1763), Garrison House, and Causey House (C. 1900).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

According to the 2020 census, the population of the city is 11,190 people and 4,356 households in the city.The Kent County portion of Milford is part of the Dover, DE Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Philadelphia-Reading-Camden, PA-NJ-DE-MD Combined Statistical Area, while the Sussex County portion is part of the Salisbury, MD-DE Metropolitan Statistical Area.
