Coalinga, California

Coalinga High School is a public high school in Coalinga, California. It lies southwest of Fresno, California and northeast of San Luis Obispo, California. It serves both the communities of Coalinga and Huron. It is a member of the West Sierra League Conference. Its mascot is the Horned Toad.

The Coalinga Polk Street School, in Coalinga, California, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and destroyed by an earthquake in 1983. Also known as Old Polk Street School, it was located at S. 5th and E. Polk streets in Coalinga and was built in 1908. Its bell tower is on display at the R.C. Baker Museum in Coalinga. It had an irregular plan within a 143 by 84 feet (44 m × 26 m) rectangular area, and had elements of Classical Revival style, esp. in its entrance portico on its north facade.

Coalinga College, formerly West Hills College Coalinga, is a public community college in Coalinga, California, with a satellite facility in Firebaugh. Both locations serve students in the central San Joaquin Valley. Established in 1932, Coalinga College is in the West Hills Community College District. It is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges.

Coalinga Municipal Airport (Old) is a closed airport located 1 mile north of Coalinga, California. The airport was closed approximately in the year 2000; all aviation use was moved to the New Coalinga Municipal Airport.

The Jacalitos Hills are a low mountain range in western Fresno County, central California. They are located south of Coalinga, California. They are in the Southern Inner California Coast Ranges. Habitats of the hills are in the California interior chaparral and woodlands sub-ecoregion. Jacalitos is derived from a Spanish word meaning "little wigwams".

The Coalinga Oil Field is a large oil field in western Fresno County, California, in the United States. It surrounds the town of Coalinga, about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, to the west of Interstate 5, at the foot of the Diablo Range. Discovered in the late 19th century, it became active around 1890, and is now the eighth-largest oil field in California, with reserves totaling approximately 58 million barrels (9,200,000 m3), and over 1,600 active oil wells. The principal operators on the field, as of 2008, were Chevron Corp. (formerly Standard Oil of California or SoCal) and Aera Energy LLC.

Jacalitos Creek formerly known as Arroyo de Jacelitos (Creek of Little Huts), is a creek in Fresno County, California. Its source is 0.96 km (0.6 mi) north of Andrews Peak, in the Diablo Range. From there it runs east then northeast between the Jacalitos Hills and the Kreyenhagen Hills, then passes across Pleasant Valley to its confluence with Los Gatos Creek 4.2 km (2.6 mi) south of Coalinga Nose.

Jasper Creek is a stream in Fresno and Monterey counties, California, in the United States. Jasper Creek was named from the jasper buttes lining its banks.

Mustang Peak is a summit in the Diablo Range on the northwest - southeast trending range of mountains marking the boundary of Monterey County and Fresno County, California. This summit rises to an elevation of 3,596 feet (1,096 meters). It overlooks the Kreyenhagen Hills and Kettleman Plain beyond it to the east, and the Jacalitos Hills and Pleasant Valley beyond it to the north. To the south is Joaquin Canyon, tributary to Cholame Creek and to the west is Mine Mountain and Cholame Creek beyond it, below its summit.
