Watertown Arsenal

The New Repertory Theatre (New Rep) is a Boston-area regional theater company founded in 1984, it has produced more than 70 East Coast, US, or World premieres. Since 2005 New Rep has been the resident company at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown, MA. It creates productions for the 340-seat Main Stage Theater, the 90-seat Black Box Theater, and its outreach program, New Rep Classic Repertory Company, performs for over 14,000 students, many from underserved communities, each year. In 2019, Michael J. Bobbitt was appointed as executive artistic director. In April 2021, New Rep named M. Bevin O’Gara its interim executive artistic director, as Bobbitt moved to the position of executive director for the Massachusetts Cultural Council.New Rep's Next Voices Playwriting Fellowship sponsors playwrights each year to develop new work. Recent fellows include Walt McGough, John Minigan, Ellen O'Brien, Lila Rose Kaplan, and Patrick Gabridge. In 2020, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, New Rep transitioned from live to virtual performaces and later the next year featured outdoor performances at the Arsenal on the Charles. In July 2021, the theatre announced it would be suspending operations due to pandemic related challenges. In 2022, the company announced it would be producing two shows for the 2022 season; We Celebrate: Storytelling through Song, Music, and Sound at the Mosesian Center Main Stage, and Solo Moments in New Reps Black Box Theater.

The Dorothy and Charles Mosesian Center for the Arts (formerly Arsenal Center for the Arts) is a nonprofit multidisciplinary arts venue on the Charles River in Watertown, Massachusetts, United States. The 30,000 square foot center, located in an historic 1894 manufacturing shop of the U.S. Army's Watertown Arsenal, houses a 339-seat main stage theater, a 100-seat black box theater, exhibition galleries, art classrooms, and rehearsal studios. Mosesian Arts is located six miles from downtown Boston, borders Brighton and the Charles, and is accessible from surrounding suburbs and MetroWest. Programming includes professional theater and musical performances, comedy, gallery exhibitions, literary and art discussions, and performing and visual arts classes and workshops for all ages. Watertown Children’s Theatre, Mosesian Arts’ performing arts education program, provides classes and performances for youth and families. The venue also hosts other performing arts companies from throughout the Greater Boston region.

The Materials Technology Laboratory (MTL) was a research facility under the U.S. Army Materiel Command that specialized in metallurgy and materials science and engineering for ordnance and other military purposes. Located in Watertown, Massachusetts, MTL was originally known as the Watertown Arsenal Laboratories (WAL) and represented one of many laboratory buildings erected at Watertown Arsenal. Despite its name and its role in housing the arsenal's mechanical and metallurgical laboratory equipment, however, WAL operated independently from the arsenal. The facility remained in operation even after Watertown Arsenal closed down in 1967. WAL was renamed the Army Materials Research Agency (AMRA) in 1962 and then the Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center (AMMRC) in 1967 before it became the Materials Technology Laboratory in 1985. In 1992, MTL was disestablished, and the majority of its operations and personnel were incorporated into the newly created U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL).

The Commanding Officer's Quarters, Watertown Arsenal is a historic house in Watertown, Massachusetts. During the American Civil War, a new commander's quarters was commissioned by then-Capt. Thomas J. Rodman, inventor of the Rodman gun, for the Watertown Arsenal. The lavish, 12,700 sq ft (1,180 m2), quarters would ultimately become one of the largest commander's quarters on any U.S. military installation. The expense ($63,478.65) was considered wasteful and excessive and drew a stern rebuke from Congress, who then promoted Rodman to Brigadier General and sent him to command Rock Island Arsenal on the frontier in Illinois, where he built an even larger commander's quarters. The Watertown commander's quarters house now houses offices and a museum about the arsenal. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, and included in the Watertown Arsenal Historic District in 1999.

The North Beacon Street Bridge is a bridge carrying North Beacon Street (U.S. Route 20) over the Charles River between Watertown, MA and Brighton, Boston, MA. It was built in 1917.The southern end of the bridge is also at the western terminus Birmingham Parkway (and the extension of Soldiers Field Road, not built until 1935, itself an extension of Storrow Drive), while its northern end is at the western terminus of Greenough Boulevard, an extension of Memorial Drive. The North Beacon Street carried by this bridge is not the same street as the well-known Beacon Street in Boston.

The Charles River Reservation Parkways are parkways that run along either side of the Charles River in eastern Massachusetts. The roads are contained within the Charles River Reservation and the Upper Charles River Reservation, and fall within a number of communities in the greater Boston metropolitan area. The Charles River parks extend from the Charles River Dam, where the Charles empties into Boston Harbor, to Riverdale Park in the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston. Most of the roadways within the parks are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a unit, although Storrow Drive and Memorial Drive are listed as part of the Charles River Basin Historic District. The other roadways, listed in 2006, extend from Harvard Square to Newton Upper Falls. The roads on the river banks were improved at the beginning of the 20th century to provide a continuous route through the park.

Old Watertown High School is a historic school building at 341 Mount Auburn Street in Watertown, Massachusetts, United States. The 3+1⁄2 story brick building was built in 1913 by local architect Charles Brigham. Now an assisted living facility named Brigham House, the English Revival structure is one of Watertown's most imposing public buildings, standing about one mile east of Watertown center. When built it first served as the city's high school, but was converted to a junior high school in 1925, a role it served until the late 1980s. It then stood vacant until its conversion to housing in the 2000s.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

St. James Armenian Church is a prominent Armenian Apostolic church located in Watertown, Massachusetts. Established in 1937, the church has become a vital center for the Armenian-American community in the Greater Boston area.

Arsenal Yards (formerly known as Arsenal Mall from 1983 to 2013 and the Arsenal Project from 2013 to 2016) is a mixed-use, smart growth development in Watertown, Massachusetts. The area is home to the original Arsenal Mall site, which is currently being redeveloped for Arsenal Yards. The construction of the site is expected to be finished in 2022. It includes 250,000 sq ft (23,000 m2) of retail and restaurants, 200,000 sq ft (19,000 m2) of office space, a 150-room Hampton Inn hotel, and 425 residences.

Perkins School for the Blind, in Watertown, Massachusetts, was founded in 1829 and is the oldest school for the blind in the United States. It has also been known as the Perkins Institution for the Blind.Perkins manufactures its own Perkins Brailler, which is used to print embossed, tactile books for the blind; and the Perkins SMART Brailler, a braille teaching tool, at the Perkins Solutions division housed within the Watertown campus's former Howe Press.

St. Stephen's Armenian Elementary School (Armenian: Սուրբ Ստեփանոս հայկական տարրական դպրոց), located in Watertown, Massachusetts, was founded in 1985. It is a small Armenian private school.

St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church (Armenian: Սուրբ Ստեփանոս Հայաստանեայց Առաքելական Եկեղեցի), also known as Soorp Stepanos Church, is an Armenian Apostolic church in Watertown, Massachusetts. St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church is located in the heart of the Armenian community in Watertown, MA, the largest Armenian community on the east coast. Its jurisdiction falls under the Eastern Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church, and the Holy See of Cilicia. There is a bilingual school next to the church named St. Stephen's Armenian Elementary School.
