Gornal Halt railway station

Pensnett Halt was a small railway stop on the Wombourne Branch Line. It was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1925 and closed in 1932. The halt served the small town of Pensnett. The sidings around the station survived until about 1994, thanks to the Perrier distribution centre. The line north of these sidings has now been lifted. The trackbed between Gornal Halt and Pensnett Halt has become a wasteland with the bridge that took the line under High Street and towards Tansy Green Road being fenced off and has since been overgrown. At one point, the line from Pensnett Halt to Brockmoor Halt railway station became a footpath but has since been hardly used and is now overgrown with only the single track that carried the line to Gornal Halt still in situ and a steep, dangerous footpath from Gibbons Lane.

The Crooked House was a pub in South Staffordshire, England. Its name and distinctive appearance were the result of 19th-century mining subsidence which caused one side of the building to be approximately 4 feet (1.2 m) lower than the other. It was known as "Britain's wonkiest pub", and optical illusions inside the building made objects appear to roll uphill. Located in Himley in England's Black Country, the building was originally an 18th-century farmhouse before it was converted into a pub in the 1830s. It was sold in July 2023, and on 5 August was gutted in a fire; two days later it was demolished. Police are treating the fire as arson, and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the fire and the lawfulness of the demolition.

Pensnett High School was a secondary school located in the Pensnett area of the Dudley Metropolitan Borough, in the West Midlands of England. There were around 150 pupils aged 14–16 on the school roll before closure.

Pensnett is an area of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, West Midlands, England, 2.3 miles (3.7 km) south-west of central Dudley. Pensnett has been a part of Dudley since 1966, when the Brierley Hill Urban District, of which it was a part, was absorbed into the County Borough of Dudley, later the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley from 1974.

Ketley Claypit is a 13.7 hectares (34 acres) geological site of Special Scientific Interest in the West Midlands. The site was notified in 1990 under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is located in Kingswinford.

Barrow Hill Local Nature Reserve is a local nature reserve situated in Pensnett in the county of West Midlands, England. Its most distinctive feature, Barrow Hill, is the eroded remnant of a high level igneous intrusion that was formed 315 million years ago during the Carboniferous period. The reserve was created in 2005.

Straits Estate is a housing estate located near Sedgley, West Midlands, England, to the north-west of Gornal Ward, and was built for homeowners during the late 1950s and early 1960s. The streets within the estate are all named after famous poets and wordsmiths. It is served by Diamond Bus service 27/27A which runs between Wolverhampton and Dudley. It was originally known as the Conqueror's Farm housing estate after a farm which had been situated in the local area, but the Straits name was adopted by the local community soon afterwards as it was situated around The Straits, a main through route along which several shops to serve the new estate were built. The estate was constructed around a large residence called The Straits House, which was built during the 1830s. It had once been occupied by a succession of affluent local people, but by the time the surrounding estate was completed, it had been converted into a public house. This pub was the centre of most activities in the estate, with fairs, and fetes on the car park and grounds. It opened as a pub in 1960, when the new housing estate was being built. However, due to being depreciated by the brewery was closed in 2006. Despite Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council declining the planning application multiple times, it has since been converted into flats. In 2002, there was an earthquake in Dudley, with its epicentre being located at the junction of High Arcal Road and Himley Road (just of the border of the Straits Estate).

Gornal Athletic Football Club is a football club based in Lower Gornal, Dudley, in the West Midlands county in England. They are currently members of the West Midlands (Regional) League Division One and play at the Garden Walk Stadium.

Bromley Halt was a small railway stop on the Wombourne Branch Line. It had very poor patronage and, along with the rest of the line's passenger stations, was closed just seven years after its introduction by the Great Western Railway in 1925. The halt served the communities between Pensnett, Wordsley and Kingswinford. Bromley Halt ran alongside the Stourbridge Extension Canal, which itself was eventually removed. Only two platforms and a single line from Bromley Halt to Pensnett Halt and Kingswinford Junction remain.

Bromley is a residential area of Kingswinford, West Midlands, England.It was a rural area for many centuries, mostly consisting of farmland, but since the Second World War has been extensively developed for upmarket private housing. Principle bus routes through the area are service 15/15A between Wolverhampton and Merry Hill Centre and service 226 between Dudley and the Merry Hill Centre. These are operated by National Express West Midlands and Diamond Bus respectively. A Tesco Express is located on Bromley Lane in the former Fox and Goose public house.Since the 1960s it has been home to The Crestwood School, a secondary school located on Bromley Lane.

The Church of St. James the Great is an Anglican church in the Lower Gornal area of Sedgley in the West Midlands, England. The church is Grade II listed, a status it received on 11 March 1996. It is located within the Anglican Diocese of Worcester.Construction of the church commenced in 1815 and was completed in 1817 although it came into use in 1823. It was designed by Thomas Lee and built of local yellow stone with slate and tile roofs. The church was enlarged in 1837 to add north and south porches. It was refitted in 1849 with the addition of a chancel. The chancel was rebuilt and an organ was added in 1899 and in 1930, the top section of the tower was rebuilt. The north window of the apse was produced by Ninian Comper in 1902.It is not to be confused with St James's Church at Eve Hill in nearby Dudley, some two miles away.

Dudley Town Football Club is a football club based in Dudley, West Midlands, England. The club is one of the oldest non-league teams in the Midlands region, having been established in 1888. They are members of the Midland League Division One, although they have reached as high as the Premier Division of the Southern League, and in 1976 reached the first round proper of the FA Cup, when a crowd of over 5,000 saw them take Football League Third Division team York City to a replay.
